Chapter one: I have got my groove back
Chapter One
This time, I was wearing my floral cream-colour dress. We just came back from a date, and he couldn’t seem to get his eyes off me. Desperate to reach the house, he already grabbed me, lifted me up from the floor. It was so sudden, but it was so exhilarating too. I could feel his desperate hunger in his eyes. Before I could say jack, we were already inside the house.
Oh my! When did he even bring those keys out? Who cares, anyway? He put me down, staring lovingly at me all the while.
“Do you know you are the most beautiful woman in the world?” he said.
Even though I didn’t believe it was true, but darn, I felt like it. His adoring eyes said it all. He kissed me again desperately as he fondled my breast. A moan slipped from my mouth.
“Frankie, please,” I begged him, this time not willing to suffer his long, torturous caresses before he claimed me.
Oh GOSH, how I love this man.
⸻
The silly devil-possessed alarm rang, snapping me out of my sensuous dreams.
“Oh God! This is getting worse already,” I muttered.
I was as wet as a Barnie in heat. My whole body was sweaty already.
I glanced at the man beside me as I took in the stark masculine form of him lying on the bed. He was snoring mildly, his bare body visible to my ravenous eyes.
Oh s**t! Frank has a way of sleeping and still manages to look so damn sexy in an unconscious state. Yeah, that was my torment.
I watched the perfect bronze skin that seemed to glow beneath the faint blue light, his chiseled face, perfect angular jawline. His mouth was a little bit open. Asleep, most people will look ridiculous like that, but he still managed to pull off a sexy cover look like that.
His full lips had me dying to kiss him. He had a habit of sleeping only with his briefs on. Right now, he had carelessly discarded his blanket, probably while tossing during sleep.
I watched his early morning arousal, thinking maybe I should just try my luck. I shifted closer to him as I ran my fingers down his chest, moving towards his groins. I watched it harden the more.
Good.
I kissed his lips very lightly, trying not to get him fully awake. Then I brushed a kiss against his n*****s; they hardened beneath my touch. I heard him muttering something but still deeply asleep, so I continued as I was emboldened by his unconscious reaction.
I reached for his groins and massaged them gently. He stirred in his sleep. I fondled them against my palm. I heard a voice or maybe a name.
“Okay, Lori, harder.”
Then I froze.
Who the f**k is Lori?
I paused. For goodness’ sake, could my husband be cheating on me? Tears threatened to slip from my eyes.
Then he woke up, fully awake now. He stared at me, both confused and, at the same time, with that look that usually crushed my heart—the disgusted look that always made me feel like Frankenstein’s bride.
“What the hell did you think you are doing touching me that way?” his voice thundered around the room.
“I’m sorry. I—I—um, am really sorry.”
For goodness’ sake, I am his wife, for crying out loud. Don’t I have the right to touch my husband? It’s been almost a year since we made love. Since then, he had not even taken a s****l interest in me. For once, when I approached him, he would treat me like one would treat a leper.
Okay, I get it. We have been married for ten years now, and I have given him four kids, so my body had paid the price of giving him a legacy. I might not look like I used to look before. My body had changed drastically. My weight wasn’t something I should be dwelling on right now, but man should cut me some slack. At least treat me like someone you loved once.
I missed him, and I wanted the Frankie I used to know before—the one who would fight the whole world for me, the one who gave some boys a bloody nose just for flirting with me in a club, the one who was possessive and insanely jealous if another man so much as simply admired me back then.
How did we get here?
He stood up and adjusted his briefs.
“You know you should learn to keep your hands to yourself. You’re becoming too slutty for my liking.”
“Stop it, Frankie. You’re hurting me,” I said, trying so hard to keep myself from breaking apart. “What did I ever do to deserve this treatment from you?”
He paused as he took in my disheveled hair and nightie. He shook his head in disgust.
“Look at you! I mean, really, look at yourself. Do you see how fat and ugly you have become? I couldn’t even get an erection even if I try.”
“For goodness’ sake, Frankie, I have given birth to four children. That’s the price my body pays, giving you a legacy,” I said.
This time, I gave into the tears.
This broke me.
“Oh, please, don’t start again with the legacy thing. Did you see Logan’s wife? Did you see how hot she is? She’s got five kids. Still hot.”
“Stop comparing me with other women. Just stop.”
“Huh? You never liked to hear the truth, do you?” he said.
As he turned towards the bathroom, at the entrance of the bathroom door, he said, not bothering to look back at me, “Fix me something to eat quickly. I don’t want to be late for work today because you can’t get your fat ass out of that bed.”
Despair washed over me like a cold shower during autumn.
Fat and ugly.
He had called me that.
Just then, the phone rang. I glanced over the screen. It said, SUGAR GIRL.
Seriously, who’s this?
Curious, I picked up.
“Hello?”
A female voice.
“Come on, Frankie. I can’t wait for us to have the trip I kept dreaming of us.”
Silence.
“Hello? Are you there, Frank?”
I cut the call.
So that was the Lori—the name he moaned out.
