Clary's POV
Therapy was okay today, I actually was feeling a bit better now that I had talked some things out with Dr. Peterson. He's been amazing at calming me down here lately.
Now, surprisingly, I was out with Maryse, Robert and Jace, browsing through the mall. Izzy and Magnus had run off to some shoe store, which I didn't want to go to, and Alec was home, since he hates to shop, and Max wanted to stay with Alec.
"So, where to next?" Jace asked.
"Hot Topic?" He chuckled.
"Of course that's where you'd want to go." He stated, amused.
"There is nothing wrong with Hot Topic." I defended.
"I never said there was." He shot back and I rolled my eyes. "Do you do anything other than roll your eyes?"
"No, not really." He laughed.
"Clarissa!" I froze.
"No." I whispered.
"Clarissa!" Goddammit.
Maryse snapped her head around at the voice not far behind me, anger clear in her eyes. "The nerve of that woman." She seethed.
"Maryse, it's okay. I'll meet you guys in the food court, alright?" Maryse turned her eyes to me.
"Are you sure? I can get rid of her."
"I have to deal with her sooner or later, might as well get it over with."
"Fine, but Robert stays with you." I nodded.
"Okay." Jace stared at me curiously.
"Jace, let's go." Maryse grabbed his arm and hauled him off towards the food court.
I turned around and faced Jocelyn and a lumberjack looking man beside her.
"Clarissa-"
"I go by Clary, not Clarissa."
"Alright, Clary then. Can we talk? Alone?" She glanced at Robert standing with his arms crossed over his chest, only about three feet behind me.
"I am not leaving her alone with you, Jocelyn. Not with your history."
"I understand. Clary, I want to apologize for everything-" I shook my head.
"Don't. You have no business here, Jocelyn. You are not my mother, nor will you ever be. You had your chance back then and you blew it. Majorly. If you really want me to be happy, you'll stop calling me and you'll leave me the hell alone. If you fail to do that, I will make sure to get a restraining order against you. You got that? f**k off and leave me the hell alone."
I turned and started walking towards the food court. "You alright, Clary?" I shook my head at Robert as he walked beside me. "Would you like to go home?"
"No." The vomit rose in my throat and I couldn't push it back down. "Gonna puke." I took off running to the bathroom and collapsed in a stall, puking into the toilet.
"Clary, sweetheart." Maryse came up behind me and held my hair back until the puking stopped. "Come here, sweetheart." She helped me up and got a paper towel wet, letting me wipe my mouth with it.
"Thanks." I whispered.
"Anytime." She handed me two pieces of gum and I laughed lightly. "She's been calling you?" I nodded. "Why haven't you told Val?"
"I hoped she'd eventually give up. But, she hasn't and I don't think she will."
"So, we get a restraining order." I nodded and chewed up the minty gum. "Let's go get something to eat."
We continued our day of shopping and when we got home, I thanked them and headed back to my house.
"Hey, princess. How was the shopping trip?" I sighed and sat down beside dad on the couch, letting his arm wrap around me.
"Good, except for a little surprise visitor."
"Yeah? Who?"
"Jocelyn f*****g Fray." He looked down at me.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm okay. I made her leave me alone and told her to stop calling me." His eyebrows raised in question. "She's been calling me for about a month or so, but I usually only answer to cuss her out. So, if you don't mind, I was gonna ask if I could get a new phone and a new number so that she can't call me anymore."
"Whatever you want, baby." He kissed my forehead and I smiled, leaning into his side.
"I love you, daddy."
"I love you, too, baby."
A knock sounded on the front door and dad got up to get it.
"Jace. What can I do for you?"
"Well, actually, I was looking for Clary." I stood up and took dad's place at the door.
"Looking for me, why?" I asked with a small smile.
"Wanted to borrow another cd. You have better ones than Jonathan."
"Fine. But, in return, you have to carry my bags to my room." He chuckled.
"I can do that." I opened the door further and we walked in while I closed it behind him.
He picked up all of my bags and started up the stairs. I glanced back at dad and saw the bright smile on his face. "What?"
"Nothing." He shook his head, but I knew there was something.
"Whatever." I walked upstairs and found Jace browsing through my bookcase with many cd's on them.
"So, who was that woman at the mall today? She looked like you." I sighed and collapsed on my bed.
"My b***h of a mother. She's unfortunately out of jail. What she was in for, I will not tell you."
"I'll accept that. At least you're telling me things now." I rolled my eyes and he laughed, continuing to inspect my cd's.
Though, he started to fidget nervously and try to secretly glance over at me every once and a while. "What is up with you?" I finally blurted out and looked up at him from my sketch book.
"I wanted to ask you something."
"So, ask." He sighed.
"I- so, in high school, we have that little thing called 'Prom' and I was wondering if you maybe wanted to go with me?"
"To prom?" He nodded. "Ask me again with a bit more confidence." He laughed.
"Will you go to prom with me?" I smiled.
"I'd love to." He smiled along with me and pulled out my Three Days Grace cd.
"I'll take this one." He went to lean against my doorframe. "This Friday, I'll pick you up at six." I nodded.
"See ya." He left my room and I smiled as I leaned back against my pillows.
Gaining my senses, I walked back downstairs and stood in front of dad as he typed on his computer.
"Need something, princess?" He looked up and smiled when he noticed my bright one. "What are you smiling about?"
"I need to borrow some money. Please."
"What for?"
"A prom dress." His smile widened.
"Take my credit card." He got out his wallet.
"Thank you, daddy." I took his credit card from him. " I promise not to get anything too expensive."
"Hey, you get whatever you want, no matter the cost. You never ask for anything, so go crazy this time. Just, don't give let your brother have the card." I laughed.
"I won't. Thank you." He nodded and turned back to his computer. "I am going over to the Lightwoods for a minute, but then I'm coming back to get dinner started."
"Okay. Let me know if you need any help."
Yeah right......
