Chapter 9

Della’s pov Joe was just talking. She really wasn’t listening. She was trying to focus on anything but the pain in her hand. “Della say something.” Oops. All she remembers hearing is I love you. “I think I hate you.” Wow she was not expecting that to come out of her mouth. He looked just as shocked as she was… to be fair she’s never been mean to Joe before. She’s always been nice and quiet. But she really did hate him in this moment. He ruined her relationship. She’s been happy the past 2 years without him. “You hate me?” He sounded so surprised. The smirk from him didn’t go unnoticed. “You ruined my life. After this I don’t want to see you again. Ever! I want you to leave me alone.” She started crying again. She meant every word of it. She leaned back. She was so tired right now. She closed her eyes. Maybe if she doesn’t see him he will go away. Where are some meds? She heard Joe get up and walk over to her. “You know you don’t mean any of that.” She probably didn’t. But right now in this moment she did. He started stroking her hair. She loved it when her brothers did that. She was enjoying it. She loved it. It relaxed her. It felt amazing. Then she caught scent of him. No! She pushed his arm away. “I mean it leave me alone.” There was a knock on the door. Joe went and sat down. Thank God. Della tried to sit up. That was harder than she thought. The doctor came in as Joe got up to help her. She pushed him away. The doctor smirked. “Well it’s broken badly.” He put the x-rays up and showed every little break. Great. “It could take almost a year to heal. Better start being nice to your boyfriend or he might leave you.” The doctor said. “I really wish he would leave me.” She sounded so bitter even to herself. “Aww you don’t mean that. I’ll come back with a pain shot and an antibiotic shot. Then I’ll give you the first round to take home. I’ll put an order in at the pharmacy your man can go pick it up in the morning.” “He’s not my man or boyfriend. I don’t even like him. I hate it.” Wow she was being awful to poor Joe. “Sweetie you don’t mean it. It’s just the pain talking.” “He’s the one who broke me.” “Break up with him immediately.” Della laughed. So did Joe. “Can I get security to escort him out?” The doctor looked him over. “I would say yes but security is smaller than me… I don’t think he wants to leave so he can just tie him up and stay.” Della laughed again. She can see Joe doing that. “Did the nurse tell you he tied the towel and ice pack to my arm?” “Yep. And you threw it at him as hard as you could and he was very unfazed.” “Yeah. He seems to be that way… he’s getting on my nerves.” “There is a shot for that. Would you like it?” Would she? “As long as the side effect isn’t that I fall in love with him yes.” The doctor laughed. “You’re a little feisty huh?” “Give her a minute. She’s warming up.” She glared at Joe. He was smirking so was the doctor. He was enjoying this so was the doctor. She hates men. She’s going to be a lesbian. “So he’s in love with you and you want to.. kill him?… why?” “He made my fiancé break up with me after he showed up unannounced to my fiancés house and yelled that he was in love with me. Then I went to go inside and he grabbed my arm and I jerked it free and hit the door frame and I heard my hand break.” “How did your wrist break?” “I fell down the stairs after he came over trying to take care of me. He then threw me in his truck and brought me here.” “Wow. I don’t think this relationship is healthy. I think you should stay away from each other.” “Joe you have to leave and stay away from me. Doctors orders. Can I get that in a note?” Joe laughed. He was enjoying this. He enjoyed Della end of story. He has always enjoyed her. She doesn’t know why. “Yes. Would you like a restraining order while you’re at it?” “If you wouldn’t mind.” That was such a great idea. Why hasn’t she thought of that? The doctor left. “So… you and Cruz broke up?” “I’m not talking about it with you.” She gave him a dirty look. “You look incredibly hot right now.” “Just shut up. I don’t want to hear your voice again.” She laid back down. She was so tired and in so much pain. The nurse came in. “So this one you can have in your arm. This one has to be in your butt. You have to massage the sight for 10 minutes after.” She said. Great. “Leave.” Della said looking at Joe. “No sweet heart let him stay. He can massage you.” “I’m on a hiatus from him and his touch for the rest of my life.” The nurse laughed. “At least leave the ice pack. That will feel good after.” Joe got up and left and left the ice pack. The nurse did the butt shot first. Hurt really badly. She massaged it. “How do you know him?” “My brothers friend.” “He’s cute.” “I guess.” The nurse laughed again. “What did he do that was so bad.” “He broke my hand and wrist.” “Ouch. He deserves everything mean you have said or done.” “Yep.” The nurse got done and then did her arm one. Della laid on her side and she put the ice pack on her hip area. “Want me to let him back in?” “He’s going to do what he wants anyway.” The nurse left and the doctor came in. He started fitting a cast on her. The meds kicked in. She yawned. “Meds finally working?” “A little… I also think my adrenaline has worn off.” “Yeah. You were riding a wicked high. Your heart rate and blood pressure were through the roof.” “He has that effect on me.” The doctor laughed. “Most people when they say that they are talking about s*x not about breaking bones.” She laughed. “Oops. He’s just a little aggressive. He’s not a bad guy. Or a mean or horrible one. He just knows what he wants and goes after it. Even if it’s already taken.” “He loves you. He wouldn’t be putting up with everything mean you’ve said to him if he didn’t.” He was sadly right. Joes pov He walked back down the hall to Della’s room. “He loves you. He wouldn’t be putting up with everything mean you’ve said to him if he didn’t.” Joe honestly would put up with it all. She was his friends little sister and she needed Joe. “Unfortunately you’re right. But the circumstances surrounding our reunion and what’s just happen make it hard to believe that.” Made sense he was about to walk in. “The sad thing is I think I love him too.” What?! He heard the doctor laugh. “Really?” The doctor sounded so surprised. Joe was surprised. “I used to have a crush on him when I was 15. He used to be around all the time. I tried to avoid him. I wanted to pounce on him all the time. But I knew he wouldn’t want me to. And honestly even if I did I would be lucky if I would be able to stay. He would get in trouble. Not just with my brothers and uncles but also being a seal touching an underaged girl. Then he vanished. Then I met someone. He slightly made me forget about joe.” Wow. She loves him. He never knew any of that. The meds must have kicked in. “Well at least you didn’t want to ruin his life.” The doctor said. “Right now I kind of wish I had.” The doctor and her both started laughing. He was trying not to. “Do you want some new to the situation and have just seen what I’ve seen advice?” “Sure. Help me here.” “Give him a chance. He feels horrible you can see it on his face. He knows he’s hurt you. He knows he made a mistake. He still loves you. If you gave him half a chance you might realize he’s not so bad.” “What if I really don’t want to?” She seemed to be stuck on the fact she didn’t want Joe. “I wish you would. Maybe if you did then you may get over him or maybe you will fall madly in love. End up with your soulmate.” She laughed. “Yeah Joe is not my soul mate.” The doctor laughed. “Your soul doesn’t know it yet.” “It does. It knows it’s anyone but Joe.” “No it knows it’s Joe.” “We will have to see.” Joe smirked. She was so stubborn against him. He loved her.
