Zylon
Everything was going smoothly with our guests, even though the woman, Silvina, had been cornering me throughout the night. She talks a lot, which I didn't like. I didn't want her attention.
I was with Hayes, Silvina, and Valerie, along with her brother, Morgan, engaged in small talk before dinner, when I felt her presence. My mate had arrived. I slowly turned, and my heart paused for a moment. She looked breathtaking.
"Gods have mercy! Who is that beautiful woman?" Morgan whispered. Ruby Rue. My mate. And stop looking at her like that! I wanted to shout.
Ruby was wearing a stunning red dress that hugged her figure in all the right places, highlighting her elegant curves. Her silky hair was artfully arranged in an exquisite updo, accentuating her flawless, slender neck that seemed to invite me. I couldn't help but imagine the warmth of her skin. I longed to kiss that delicate neck, leaving a mark to remember. My mind danced with curiosity about her taste—sweet, perhaps, like cherries.
'Probably like flowers and honey,' my wolf chimed in, completely in awe of her.
Tate approached her and kissed her cheek. "You're here," he said.
"Is that the beta's mate?" Morgan asked.
"Sister," I managed to answer, not taking my eyes off her. Our gazes met, and I swallowed hard. Her expression was void of emotion.
"I need to introduce myself to her," Morgan whispered. I narrowed my gaze at him. His lustful look was directed towards my mate. Hayes glared at him, and I knew my brother's temper well enough that it was only a matter of seconds before he snapped.
'Calm down. He doesn't know, and we are not about to tell them we have a mate, not tonight,' I mind-linked to my brother.
'I will rip his eyes out. I won't be able to take it if he touches her,' he growled.
'He won't touch her,' I replied firmly.
'But she will, just to spite us,' he scoffed. Hayes was right. My mate would do anything to spite us. She had us by the balls, and she knew it well. I glanced back at my mate, and she was hugging my sister. The two were talking animatedly, smiling brightly at each other.
"Does the beta's sister have a mate?" Morgan inquired. I felt Silvina link her arm to me, but I withdrew from her touch. She pouted, her gaze flickering to Ruby for a split second, a flash of jealousy appearing on her face, but only briefly.
"No, she doesn't have a mate," Tate answered, walking over. Hayes and I glared at him. What was he doing?
'She has two mates. It's us!' I growled at Tate through the mind link. He only smirked and turned his attention back to Morgan. I was ready to kill him!
"Beta, your sister is a beautiful woman. I've seen plenty to know, trust me," Morgan said.
"Ruby is beautiful," Tate agreed. He looked at his sister with love.
"It's such a shame she is not mine," Morgan sighed in disappointment. His eyes suddenly lit up. "But what's stopping her from being mine if she has no mate?"
'He's dead, Tate, too!' Hayes was fuming.
' I may just agree with that,'
"Maybe she has a mate somewhere. She needs the chance to find him," Valerie suggested. We all nodded in agreement with her, hoping to deter Morgan from eyeing our mate that way.
"Lucky son of a gun, her mate," he murmured. Pride swelled within me. I was lucky to have Ruby as my mate, but I felt like an i***t for hurting her the way I did when we confirmed our bond.
"I'd like to talk to her. Beta, can you introduce me to her?" Morgan requested.
"No!" Hayes and I shouted in unison.
"Why not?"
"Because we were talking and having a good time," I said, forcing a smile.
"We are enjoying your company," Hayes gritted through his teeth, each word feeling like it burned his tongue. Morgan smiled and nodded.
"I'll be back. I want to say hi to Ruby," he said, and before we could stop him, he walked away, accompanied by Tate.
I watched Morgan make his way to Ruby. Silvina was saying something to me, but I couldn't focus on her words. My entire attention was on Morgan and Ruby's interaction. I was sure Hayes's was, too. Why was Ruby smiling like that? Stop smiling, sweetheart. Oh, no, she laughed. He couldn't be that funny. I couldn't take it anymore. I marched toward them and grabbed my mate's waist. She looked slightly confused.
"I need to talk to Ruby. Excuse us," I told Tate and Morgan, leaving without waiting for their response.
'Where are you going?' I received a mind link from Hayes.
'I just wanted to get her away from Morgan,' I replied bitterly. I wasn't used to feeling this jealous. I took Ruby to an isolated hallway.
"It's rude to—" she started, but before she could finish her sentence, I pushed her against the wall, caging her with my arms. I bent down to her eye level. My actions startled her. Her eyes widened. Yet, I noticed her breath quickening.
"Why were you laughing and smiling like that towards Morgan?" was my question. Her eyebrows knitted together, but then realization dawned in those beautiful eyes.
"I can laugh and smile with whomever I want, Zylon." Surprisingly, her voice softened as she said my name. It made me happy to hear it come from her mouth.
"Well, he's not that funny. I've spoken to the dude," I gritted out. She was silent for a moment before her face broke into a slight smile, followed by a soft giggle. It was music to my ears.
"You're funny," she said. No one had told me that before, but deep down, it made me beam with joy. Then, her expression changed, turning stern.
"You dragged me here, leaving your future Luna, just to tell me that Morgan is not funny?"
"She's not my future Luna; you are!" I growled.
"Don't lie. Tate told me the plan," she replied, sounding upset. She didn't want to lose us! My wolf was jumping with excitement.
"Yes, the alphas came to introduce their daughters to us, but we are not going through with that."
"Well, do they know that? Considering the way they are clinging to you," she murmured. I had at least softened her anger a bit.
"No, but we'll tell them tomorrow. I promise, sweetheart." I gently cupped her face in my hands. She bit her lower lip, seemingly deep in thought, before opening her mouth to speak. But before she could say anything, I pressed my lips to hers. It felt like heaven on earth; she tasted so sweet.
She kissed me back. My hands found their way to her waist while her arms wrapped around my neck. She moaned softly into my mouth, and my d**k throbbed. My tongue pressed against hers, and she welcomed it eagerly. She was intoxicating. She was mine; she was mine.
My d**k was hard, and I thrusted against her hip; she did too. Her hand moved to my hair, as if she had been wanting to touch it forever. Everything felt perfect in that moment.
"Looks like you missed something," a voice said, and we pulled apart, both of us panting.
I turned to see Hayes, Morgan, Silvina, and Valerie standing there. My gaze locked onto my brother; was that jealousy I saw in his eyes?
'You brought them here,' I mind-linked him, but he ignored me and faced our three stunned guests, who looked hurt and betrayed.
"Ruby found her mate a few years ago... Actually, two mates," Hayes smirked as he stood beside our lovely mate. As if on cue, the two alphas appeared, along with my mother, Gloria, and my beta and gamma, who just shook their heads. Yes, we had thrown out everything we had discussed earlier.
