Shockwaves

Connors POV: I woke up with a smile on my face. I can’t remember ever waking up this happy. I haven't even opened my eyes yet and I was already in a good mood. I felt  Serene’s warm naked body pressed against my side, her head resting on my chest. I couldn't help but  run my fingers through her white blonde hair. Last night was f*****g incredicable. We hadnt had s*x but bringing her pleasure, watching her come undone at my touch was something I would never get tired of.  Yesterday had been all sorts of f****d up. Finding out she was my soulmate on some cosmic level, being torn with the thoughts of never being with her, and then finally having a taste that left me consumed with nothing but thoughts of her. I am  exhausted, but in the best way. I slowly opened my eyes, the room was only just beginning to lighten with the dawn, the lanterns, long since burnt out. I could hear the crew on deck, we had already set sail, following my orders from last night. My gaze instantly drifted down to the goddess sleeping in my arms. My smile widened uncontrollably. The blanket was wrapped around her waist, leaving the curve of her breast exposed as it rested perfected on my side. I admired the parts of her silver soulmate's mark that I could see, and a feeling of longing came over me. I wanted this, I wanted her in my arms everyday. But I didn't know if that was even possible. How could it be possible, she was the future queen of the most powerful kingdom of the ocean. And I...I was just a pirate captain. I shook these thoughts from my head, I wouldn't let that ruin this perfect moment with her. I carefully tucked her hair behind her ear as I continued to stare down at her. My sweet, Mi cielito. I was meant to be one of the most feared pirate captains of all the seas. But if anyone could see me now, grinning like an i***t at a treasure far greater than any gold, my reputation would be dead. The sun was rising and was now shining on her beautiful face, making her hair light up like a halo around her. She began to stir in my arm, stretching out, her eyes fluttered open and flicked straight up to me. I held my breath waiting to see what her expression would tell me. Did she regret last night, or did she feel as good as I did? As soon as her eyes locked with mine, they softened and a slow smile formed on her full, pink lips. Relief flooded over me. I rolled us so she was beneath me and cradled her face in my hands, looking deep into her enchanting silver-blue eyes.  “Why good morning Captain.” she laughed up at me.  She then surprised me by wrapping her arms around my neck and pulling me down for a quick kiss.  Before I could respond we were interrupted by a strong sharp jolt that rocked the ship with such force that the lantern next to the bed slid off the table, smashing on the floor. “f**k! It's happening again, and it’s close!” I huffed. Serene’s eyes were wide.  I leapt up and started throwing on my clothes. I looked over to Serene and she was already out of bed and running for the door. “I will get to whatever it is before we miss the opportunity! I have to know what is going on!” She called over her shoulder to me. Like f**k I was letting her go anywhere. “Wait!” I yelled as I managed to grab her hand before she opened the door. “It’s probably dangerous, stay here. Me and my men will find it!”  “No Connor, I can do this. I will keep a safe distance. We need answers.” She turned to me and reached a hand up to run through my hair. “I will be ok, I promise you.”  I wrapped her as tightly as I could in my arms and kissed her. I felt so many feelings in our kiss, so many unspoken words. But she was right.  We were pulled apart by another massive f*****g shock ripping through the ocean.  I held onto her hands and made her lock eyes with me. “Together mi cielito. Ya not goin alone.” She smiled up at me and placed her palm on my chest, right in the middle of my soulmate's mark. “Together it is.” She agreed. “Captain!” Finch, a young member of my crew burst into the room in panic. “Sorry Captain!” He turned around when he saw a very naked Serene standing right infront of him. I quickly took off my shirt and wrapped it around her.  I might be getting used to her doing her thing, but like f**k I was goin to let my crew see her naked like this.  “We will be right up Finch. Go tell Lee to ready the gear.” I ordered. “Aye Captain.” He called as he ran down the corridor. I ran a hand over my face in frustration.  Serene turned to me and laughed then pulled me out the door and up onto the deck.  “Captain, I have your gear. The sonic readings seem to be coming from only twenty meters starboard side and about the same depth.” Lee stated as he passed me my dive gear. He already had his on and was studying a map. “I don't think ya will need ya map Lee, Not when we have Serene.” Lee looked to me, retaliation hitting him and he chuckled. “I don't suppose we will.” Was his response. “Come on captain, we need to go.” I heard Serene call. She was standing on the railing looking down into the water below.  “Right behind ya!” I watched as she tore my shirt off and jumped.  I secured my mouth piece and jumped in after her, Lee was close behind.  Submerged under the water, I struggled to not get distracted by Serene’s beauty. She was even more captivating. This was the first time I had seen her tail properly. It was almost an iridescent silver that shone turquoise as she moved. Her white-blonde hair floated around her face and shimmered in the morning sun that shone through the waves.  My eyes widened when I saw a massive Hammerhead shark quickly approach her from behind, seeing my expression she turned to see what I was gaping at. Then she turned to me and laughed. “This is a friend of mine, no need to look so worried. Come, this way.” She guestered for us to follow but before we did Lee reached out to grab us both . Just as he did, another shockwave ripped through the ocean. It felt like it was coming from right below us. Once the tremors died down enough, we swam a few meters out then began our descent into the canyons.   The shark was getting restless and it was f*****g with my confidance, I could almost swear it didnt want us going anywhere near what ever the f**k was going on. We were swimming through a narrow channel, surrounded by high rock cliffs. Serene came to a sudden stop. She raised her hand for us to do the same. She closed her eyes as though she was listening for something. Her head flew up and she turned to us.  “Do you hear that?!” She questioned. I couldn’t hear f**k all down here apart from my oxygen tank. I shook my head. “I am sure I hear Hippocampus, lots of them. We need to get closer but there are voices too so stay close to the cliffs and stay behind me.” She turned and began inching her way forward around a corner. I turned to Lee and lifted my eyebrow in question. He shrugged back. Hippocampus, I didn't think they were real.  We followed Serene's lead around the bend, coming to a sharp edge with a drop down on the other side. The three of us slowly peered over. What the f**k was I looking at? Are those Hippocampus? The cliffs around them looked like they had been blown apart, and there were seafolk chaining up the half horse, half fish creatures. Was this what all the shockwaves were from? Herding and trapping mythical creatures? Serene pulled us away from the ledge and we ducked down. She looked at the shark who was unnervingly close to me, they seemed to be having a silent conversation. She turned to me with sadness in her eyes. “Hippocampus are peaceful and rare creatures, they are a symbol of hope to my kind, I do not understand why anyone would want to hurt them. The soldiers down there, I do not recognise them. Their uniform isn't one I have seen worn by any of the three kingdoms.” She was doing her best to hold back her emotions, but I could tell this was upsetting her. She had the most incredible resilience and I admired her compassion. “We need to save them, Connor. We can not let them be taken like this.” She said, grabbing my hand. I was unable to speak, I could only shake my head. I cupped her face in my hands and looked into her eyes. I hoped that she would be able see the promise shining in them. We would release them, but now was not the time. We were outnumbered.  She gave me a small smile before kissing me gently on the cheek.  “You're right. As much as I do not like this I know we can not aid them in this moment.. We need to get back before we are spotted.” She sighed.  I took her hand in mine and we made our way back to my ship. I hated that she was upset and that we couldn't do anything right now. There were so many f****d up things going on, it was hard to keep up, let alone make sense of it all. We need to achieve what seems impossible, but I know with her by my side anything was possible.
