The Brithday Gift

Rajeev was an engineer in a factory. Deepa was his wife. They had a beautiful daughter. Her name was Sudha. Sudha was a nice girl. She was loved by her parents. She loved to play and was always making new friends. Suma, Kamal, Vinod, Rashmi, Sruti were her close friends. She was meeting them daily in her school as well as in their homes. She was cheerful with her friends. They also like Sudha very much. Rajeev had returned to his home early one day. He called his daughter Sudha and said: "Sudha! My child.In two days you will be five years old and you are going to have your birthday .You invite your friends for the birthday party.Your uncle Ramesh is coming from Hyderabad to attend the party.A nice invitation card is printed.It's a nice day for you". Sudha's joy knew no bounds.She danced in joy.She hugged her mother Deepa.She could hardly wait for her birthday.She soon went to her friend's house and invited them to attend her birthday party.She gave the date and time of the party.They all said that they would attend the party without fail.Rajeev invited his factory friends and Deepa her school teachers.She was working in a school.Two days passed.The birthday was on Sunday.It was a holiday for schools and factories ."Sudha!Wake up"called Janaki. "Ma,today is my birthday" said Sudha."Happy birthday to you.Get up.Salute god.You have so much to do before the actual function starts,"said Janaki.Rajeev wished Sudha ."I'm awake.Daddy shouted Sudha and she jumped out of bed and rushed to the bedroom.She brushed her teeth well.She took bath as directed by her mother was written Soon she was dressed and ready for near the breakfast.Her mother and father did Pooja and took Sudha to the dining table.They had breakfast."Sudha,you are fine today.Let us decorate the house. By 5 o'clock evening, everything is telling to be kept ready. Uncle is being received at the airport by your daddy "said Janaki. "Ma, I'll already tell my friends. They are all coming at 4-30 in the evening " said Sudha! I have a lot of baking to do. Sweets are kept ready". Now, ever the whole day Sudha helped her mother, and she was very happy. They had a nice lunch in the afternoon . Rajeev brought the chocolate as the cake. It was Sudha's favorite cake on which was written in bold letters 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUDHA' in red. Five candles were kept on the table. Paper copies on which were written were Happy birthday, were kept near the entrance door so that each guest would get one as he entered. Rajeev went to the airport in his car and took Ramesh to his uncle's. It was 4 o'clock. Ramesh lifted Sudha up and greeted her, telling her happy birthday. A banner type cloth was hung on the wall behind the decorated table. The clothes read ' HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SUDHA'. It was 4-30 in the evening. She saw her intimate friends coming. Sudha was in her new dress. She was excited. Friends and relatives attended the birthday party. Whoever entered the decorated house sang loudly as they came. Happy Birthday to Sudha. Happy Birthday to you. They were all happy. Five candles were burning. Sudha was standing and her parents were with her parents and were by her side. Ramesh's uncle was present. Sudha took off all the candles and cut the cake with a knife. She gave a piece to her mother and father and then a piece to her uncle. All her friends and relatives sang loudly. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Her friends and relatives presented Sudha with toys and dolls. Everybody was offered nice food. All of them wished Sudha and left. left . Ramesh's uncle presented Sudha with a Sudha, a lively doll. It was brought from London. In a short time, Sudha's home was toy land. The baby dolls had lovely golden hair, the bluest eyes, rosy cheeks and were wearing beautiful skirts. Sudha was very much tired. She took all her dolls and kept them on her bed. She slept with them.She felt all the baby dolls are her sisters and brothers.It was not even half an hour she had slept. A beautiful doll woke Sudha up and called her to play with them."Sister,let us go and play.We have birds and puppies with us.They entertain us" said one doll.Sudha was shocked to see a doll speaking.The toys made sound of birds .Sudha found herself in a toy land."Sister,you look very beautiful .You come with us.We'll take you to a fairy land.We give you wings.We can fly over the sky"said another doll. Sudha was surprised.She said:"Oh !Toy friends,I am proud of all of you.Come on let's play games."All the toys and dolls became alive.The car moved.The elephant trumpeted.The horse neighed.The cat mewed.The peacock danced.The donkey jumped from pole to pole column to column.The birds chirped.The clock made tick tick sound.The baby dolls danced to the times of small piano and key board.Sudha was thrilled.She was in esteems .She also danced with the dolls.The toy land was glittering.Sudha stood near the mountain shaped cake.All the doll said "Happy birthday to you.Happy birthday to you".Sudha blew of the candles and cut the cakes.Then she took a piece of cake send in an effort to give it to her mother she shouted "Ma ,Ma Ma......" Sudha's mother woke up and saw shouting and raising her hand.She was amidst all toys and dolls."Sudha!What happened?I am here only .Why are you calling me?".Sudha opened her eyes.Then only she understood that she had seen a dream till morning.It was a splendid one.Sudha was very sorry to see her toys and dolls silent."My dolls!My pretty dolls!My favourite toys.Where have you gone?Oh!Peacock will you not dance for me ?Will you sing for me oh birds!Oh!Elephant can't you bring water and shower on me.Oh!Horse can't you take me on your back"Sudha started crying. Janaki consoled her:"Sudha !It appears you've seen a dream.Dreams are not real.If you were cheerful and happy in the dream you're lucky.Your birthday is graced by angels.Be happy.Play with the dolls!Don't cry".Sudha got the point .She became happy.Her birthday was over.
