NIKLAUS
"Alright, folks, pair up!" I call out, my voice loud and clear across the training ground. The trainees hustle to find their partners, like kids picking teams for a game. It's early as hell, but I'm pumped to see what these newbies can do.
"Spread out, people! Today's all about swordsmanship," I announced, watching them scatter like ants, sizing each other up. There's a buzz of excitement in the air like we're gearing up for a showdown.
I step back, giving them space to do their thing. Blades out, they start circling each other, eyes locked, looking for an opening. And then bam! They're at it, clashing swords like they're in some epic duel.
I keep an eye on them, throwing out tips, and cheering them on. It's a fine line between guiding them and letting them figure it out themselves. But hey, they've put in the work, and now it's time to show what they've got.
Watching them go at it, I can't help but feel proud. These rookies might be green, but they've got heart. With every swing and parry, they're proving they've got what it takes to be masters of the blade.
I was watching the trainees when Alpha Skylar strolled up to me, breaking my concentration. I gave him a quick nod as we both turned our attention back to the recruits.
"Looks like you could use some backup to watch over these newbies," Skylar said, sounding like he was just shooting the breeze.
"Yeah, it's tough keeping track of them all by myself," I admitted, still focused on the trainees honing their sword skills.
Skylar chuckled and gave me a friendly tap on the shoulder. "You should get your Beta, Marcel, to lend a hand. I'll handle any flak from the Alpha Council if they kick up a fuss," he said confidently.
"I'd appreciate that," I replied, a smirk creeping onto my face as Skylar walked off. Everything was falling into place according to my plan, and it seemed like Skylar was fully on board.
Last night, I couldn't sleep because of some nightmares, so I reached out to Skylar. I knew I had to up the ante if I wanted to get my revenge. I made him an offer he couldn't refuse. But Skylar being Skylar, he wanted to mull it over.
I wasn't sure if he'd go for it or kick me out, but he showed up today as expected. The deal I dangled in front of him was too tempting to turn down.
Soon enough, Marcel showed up just like I told him Skylar would be around. "Hey, Alpha," he greeted me with a nod, and I gave him a bro hug, like the old buddies we are. He settled in beside me, just like Skylar did earlier.
"Can't believe that old hag's on board with the plan," Marcel said, referring to Skylar.
"After all this time, you still doubt my ability to pull off anything I set my mind to?" I scoffed, and he chuckled, shaking his head.
Then our eyes wandered to the redhead, sweating it out in those tiny shorts and sports bra. She was a sight, and the guy she was sparring with seemed more interested in checking her out than actually fighting. Good thing I suggested they use wooden swords to avoid any real injuries.
"Damn, she's hot," Marcel commented casually, but it stirred something primal in me, and I felt my wolf instincts kicking in for some reason.
I shot him a look, my jaw clenched tight, a silent warning in my expression.
"You know why you came here, right?" Marcel said, throwing his hands up in the air in a gesture of surrender and taking a step back. He was right to remind me because I knew I was drifting from my plan. I sighed heavily. "I know."
When I glanced back at Crystal, hoping she was still focused on her training, I found her gaze locked in my direction.
I ignored her stare, even though I knew I shouldn't like the Alpha. But I just couldn't risk losing control and messing up my plan. I plan to end Matt Salvador's life along with hers, as she's his mate. I was afraid that I might save her and disappoint all those who put their trust in me as their Alpha. I was afraid that I might lose control and ruin everything or hurt anyone who tried to stop me from saving her instead of killing her, instead of sticking to the original plan.
"Hey, recruits!" I clapped my hands together, and they all snapped to attention, looking our way. Once I saw they were focused, I introduced Marcel.
"Meet Marcel, everyone. He's my Beta, and he's gonna lend a hand with your training from now on. Got it? And you better show him some respect, call him 'Sir' or 'Coach'. Clear?" I said, making sure they understood.
I could tell not everyone was thrilled about Marcel joining us. He had a rep for going wild in fights, seeing red and not caring who got in his way, friend or foe. Not exactly everyone's favorite guy.
"Got it!" I reiterated loudly, and they all chorused back, "Yes, Alpha."
"Alright, back to it, recruits," I told them, shooing them back to their training. As they scattered, I headed over to the bleacher seats on the ground.
"Hey, think you could round up some other Alphas? These little bitches of recruits won't be too thrilled about getting trained by some rogue Alphas," Marcel said, giving a nod to the recruits.
"I couldn't care less about what they like. They better not screw around and disobey my orders, or they'll all get the boot from this training session. Their parents forked over a hefty sum for this, and I won't have them wasting it," I replied, my tone firm and no-nonsense.
"So, have you talked to Skylar about this?" Marcel asked, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.
"Hell no, man! I ain't about to spill my guts to him," I scoffed, shaking my head.
"Then what's the game plan, boss?" Marcel leaned in, eager for the details.
"Simple, we gotta strong-arm him into letting the others in on this," I explained, already plotting my next move.
"Alright, but how are we gonna do that? You got any orders?" Marcel pressed for more info.
"First things first, I need Vaughan to work his magic on their IT security. We have to find out who these morons on the Alpha Council are dealing with. Tell him to drop some viruses in their system, and I'll take it from there," I said, laying out the plan.
