My Perfect Half (the other side of love)

I’m Kate Edwin, a 24 year old single lady, I live with my adopted parents Josh and Stella Benson, we live in a not so small country home, you can say we are an average family. I have two siblings, Alice and Justin, they are 21 and 19 respectively. We’ve always been happy and kind to one another because life is too short to live in hatred or anger says my dad. He is a secretary at the Willson and sons group. Like I said, we are average and happy, My mom is a fashion designer but she has never had a big client patronize her.I work as a florist in my late mom’s flower shop, I was adopted at age 7, since then I have loved my family like my life depends on it. It was 8 in the morning and I had to be at the shop because I had to deliver some Canterbury bells flower to a client for a surprise engagement. I had my bath, dressed up in a sky blue knee length dress with a with 4inch heels, packed my hair in a bun, sprayed my cologne and headed to the kitchen. Mum was making some pancakes with strawberry jam, Alice was rehearsing for the cheerleaders performance in school. Dad and Justin were gone on a church trip. I walked towards mom and asked ‘need some help mama? While licking the jam from the plate. She smiled and said ‘no sweetie, but I’d like to have a conversation with you, if you don’t mind. Oh okk I was excited so I sat on the stool beside her then she began ‘I know it’s not been too easy on you these few years but there’s a time in life where you open. You open to let go and open to receive, sweetheart it’s been 3 years since Nicholas passed and I think it’s time you free yourself and let love find you again’ as she spoke, I became teary but I was gonna live in the past again, I smiled and kissed her ‘thank you’ I whispered and grabbed some pancakes then headed out. For some reason, I felt so peaceful and happy. As I approached my flower store, I said to myself ‘let love find me’ then I opened the shop. Just as I was to enter, a man in a black two piece ran inside the shop ‘heyyyyy what the helll!!!’ I yelled and then he said ‘save me’ while I was trying to figure out what was happening, 4 suspicious men came towards my direction ‘excuse me miss, did you by any chance see a man in two pieces black outfits? The bald one asked. ‘Black two piece right! Yes I did he came towards here and a black hilux drove to him then a man came down and said you can go in boss, he entered and they zoomed off’ I replied trying to look as confident as ever. ‘Damn it, he’s gone’ said the one with tattoos, they thanked me, brought out 50 thousand dollars and gave me then they left. Now I was double shocked ‘what the fuckkkk just happened’ I turned to the man hiding behind the curtains and asked. He came out and was just staring at me. ‘Welllllll! Do I deserve an explanation?? ‘No but thank you’ he responded while his hands were in his pocket as he walked out then he turned and asked ‘what is your name’ ‘Kate.. Kate Edwin’ I replied then he nodded and left. What just happened was the only question in my head as I continued walking back and forth until my phone ringtone brought me out of my thoughts. I picked ‘hel..’ ‘what the hell do you think you are doing??? Do you understand that we do not have much time??? You had better be here before I call again. The event planner ended the call. I packed the flowers ordered, took my bag and headed to the venue.
