It must have been early in the morning when he was taken to her home. At first, they were still arguing about who would enter first, but eventually, she gave up. When she entered, she was surprised to find his father sitting in the living room, watching TV but asleep. She turned off the TV, then woke up her dad. “Don’t tell me he's waiting for me for the whole night,” she whispered to herself. She approached her father and woke him up. “Dad, wake up, Dad,” “Morning, you just got home?” her dad asked, yawning. “Yeah, I was late out of work, and Hugo asked me for a late dinner,” she explained to her dad. She's squeezing her neck because she just felt tired. “You look tired,” her father said to her. “Yeah, work,” she said, kissing her father on the cheek and deciding to go upstairs. “Morning and goodnight, dad,” she said to her father. He also stood up and went with her. “Let's go together,” her dad said. “Are you waiting for me to come home?” she asked while they were still walking upstairs. “Yeah, I have something to tell you. But I can talk to you some other time.” My father was waiting for me while I was with Hugo and enjoying the moment with him. And I never thought anyone would be waiting for me. But you can't blame me either, because I'm used to no one waiting for me every time I come home. Only now do they know that someone is interested in me. “What is all this about?” she asked. “Nah, maybe tomorrow I can talk to you about this. However, now you just need to rest. Good morning and goodnight, my princess,” her father said to her, then kissed her forehead before finally entering his room. She frowned and followed him with her gaze until the door closed. Miraculously, he doesn't get mad at me now because usually when I come home like this, they scold me, but this? Why do they seem so kind to me? And I’m not used to this kind of treatment. “I wonder what that is?” she whispered to herself, then entered her room. “I feel like I'm going to have a fever.” When she entered her room, she immediately threw herself on the bed and was completely drowsy. She couldn't even put on a nightgown. It was six o'clock in the morning when Lara woke up, feeling icy and shivering. The air-con is not on. Trembling, she wrapped a thick bed sheet around her body. She got down from her bed and left the room while still wrapping herself in the bed sheet. Even though she was trembling, she was able to step down the stairs. “Yaya, yay-” she shouted, calling their maid, but no one answered her, so she decided to look for herself. Suddenly, my vision changed, and I was dizzy. It’s like I'm spinning around. I shivered in the cold, especially now that I was in barefoot. The coldness of our floor tiles added to my shivering. She went to the kitchen and looked for the medicine kit. When she found it, her vision suddenly blurred, causing her to lose consciousness. All I could hear at those times were the rushing footsteps towards me. “What happened to her, Doc?” I heard, and I knew it was mom’s voice. I looked up and was greeted by Hugo’s worried face. “Hi, how are you? Are you okay?” Hugo asked me worriedly. “Y-Yeah I’m okay,” I said hoarsely, giving him a sweet smile. “Hi, Miss Vergara, how are you feeling?” the doctor asked me. “I'm doing fine, doc.” “Good. What happened to you is over fatigue. You're overworked too much. You just need proper rest. Eat healthy foods and don't skip meals. You can be discharged now. Just wait for what we'll give you. Your prescription. Vitamins to make you want to eat more.” he said and gave me a smile. I nodded after I heard that. Maybe I should take a break first. “Don't go to work first, Lara. You're so soaked at work that you forget to rest and eat,” said Dad to me. They're now concerned about me because I’m sick, but when I’m not, no one is there for me. No one will ask me if I'm okay or how I'm doing. I know it sounds like I’m a child, but that’s what I’ve been longing for, for the past few years. But you just can’t really get things just because you want to. Even if you say it's your family. “Yeah, I will,” I said. I didn't even hesitate to say that. I don't know if I will be allowed to be absent, especially since I am still an intern. “Babe, do you want something to eat?” Hugo asked her, caused both of her parents were looking at them. “Mom, dad, Hugo is my boyfriend.” I bit my lips more to admit it. I bent down a little, staring at my fingers and feeling their reaction. When I heard nothing from them. I looked up. I was so shocked when Mom suddenly screamed. “God! Really? Finally, after so many years, you've already had a boyfriend, Lara!” Mom screamed while still jumping like a child. “Finally, my princess is no longer my princess,” dad said to her with a tinge of sadness. Actually, I haven't been your princess for a long time, Dad, since you pushed me to be in the medical field. “It looks like you're not happy, dad,” she scolded her father. “I’m happy, Lara. I swear to you. Mr. Tuazon, can I talk to you for a second?” was his cold question to Hugo. She was surprised when Dad asked him a question. He looked at me, asking my permission. I just gave him a sweet smile. “Yeah, sure, sir,” he formally replied to Dad. I followed them with my gaze as they left the room. “Your dad is annoying. Hugo might be scared of that one,” she heard her mom complain. My dad is strict but loving and strong like a rock. I’ve never seen him cry. Even at the funeral of his father. He never blatantly showed his love to me during my early childhood days. His lectures would always focus on my failures. It was rare for me to ever hear a compliment or receive help from him. I've never believed that he cares for me, and that would sometimes drive me into tears. His love for me was not superficial, but a love that guided me to this point. Perhaps he wasn’t the ideal father, but it was thanks to his actions that I continued to find a more profound meaning in life and discover the importance of the future. Parents know best. We should not obey them. We should love and take good care of them. Time is precious. As long as we have the time to be with the people we love in life, we should treasure it and value them. That day I was discharged from the hospital; we went home, and then I rested. Hugo is here in the room with me now. He’s sleeping on my little mini sofa here in my room. I stood up and handed him a blanket. I kissed his forehead and was about to leave when he suddenly pulled me, causing me to lie in his arms. “You should kiss my lips instead of my head. It makes me old,” he said in a husky tone. “I'm sorry, for making you worried about me.” “You don't need to be sorry. It's not your fault you'll get sick, okay?” he said, giving me a soft kiss on the neck. He started to kiss my neck down to my bust. He's now on my top. His hands are now under my shirt; he unlocked my bra and put it on the floor. And now I’m half naked. He twinkled my chest, causing me to moan. His kisses are now on my chest. I left a loud moan. I was about to touch him when he stopped me. “Oops, that’s it,” he said, hugging me tight on the back. “Why did you stop? I want to tou –” “Shh… sleep!” “But you're hard an ---” “Sleep, Vergara!” He commanded her, then gave her a soft kiss on the neck. She deliberately moaned, even though there was nothing to moan about. “Vergara!” He threatened her. “Okay, okay, fine!”
