“Hey, are you okay?” Hugo asked me worriedly.
Earlier, she was quiet in the car. She didn't know if she would ask him what she had just heard. So, she decided to keep quiet.
There's no place for me to ask that stupid question. I have no right to ask him because this is all just nothing for him. All I need to do now is get back to myself. I can't be like this. I am at a loss currently. No matter how much I encourage myself that this is just temporary, there's only one percent hope that it will be permanent soon.
“Hey!” She just tightened when she felt Hugo hold her hand.
She removed the hand that was resting on her hand, then smiled bitterly at him with a sigh.
“Hey, are you okay? You've been quiet for a while; what's wrong?” Hugo asked her.
“Yeah, I'm okay; don't worry about me. I'm just tired,” she lied.
“You looked okay earlier. Is everything okay?” Hugo asked again. She could see that he was apprehensive about her.
But there was a part of her that didn't want to believe what she saw in him. She finds it hard to believe every word that comes out of his mouth, every gesture because they might be untrue. Maybe she was just hoping for nothing. She wanted to ask Hugo, but her fears took precedence. The two of them were just getting started, and she would rather not ruin it.
She sniffed and sighed when she felt his hands again. She stared at it intently. It looks like it suits perfectly. She commented to herself, but she also immediately withdrew it because of what she had heard earlier. She looked up and was shocked to see Hugo kiss her hand. Although it was just a simple touch, it had a different effect on her.
“Are you sure?” Hugo asked her again.
“Yeah,” she replied, and then unbuckled the seat belt and got out of the car first.
When they were out of the car, no one spoke to the two of them. Her eyes were just staring around them; she couldn't bear to stare at him for long. She is confused, angry, and hurt at not knowing where to stand with how she feels now. As the man in front of her approached, she could feel his stares. Dangerous stares. Even when she wasn't looking at him, she could hear his crisp sighs from the corner of her eye.
“I'm going in. I'm late already. Go ahead and be careful when driving,” she said, avoiding his stares.
“Okay. I'll pick you up later,” Hugo once kissed her forehead.
Freaking heart! I said stop, right? She commented to herself. She did not answer him, but just turned her back on him.
Why does his simple move make my heartbeat so fast? What did you do to me, Hugo? Why do I like this? What do you have? Why do you think you can make me obey you?
When she decides to give her heart, then such issues will arise.
“Why do you fall so fast? That's why you're hurting,” she scolded herself.
“Hey! It's good you're here!” Jessie startled her when she finally got into the hospital.
Instead of answering her, she just went to the locker and got dressed. As the night deepened, there were more and more patients in the hospital. They became preoccupied with the successive influx of patients, so she temporarily turned her attention to the patients to be treated for food poisoning, usually children. At first, she was confused by the number of patients; she could not fully imagine that so many students were involved in food poisoning.
It's morning, but the number of patients has not stopped. Everyone is so busy with their own patients. So, she was shocked when she saw Hugo at the door of the station area of the hospital. She was supposed to go there, but she was shocked when the injured patients entered one after another. She felt tired and awake when she calmed down during those hours.
Furthermore, she shrugged her shoulders as she went to the locker room, but she was surprised again when she saw Hugo sleeping outside their locker room. Likewise, she looked at the cement on which he was sitting. She felt sorry for Hugo in the situation he was in now. She didn't notice it because of the number of patients, and she didn't know how he got here in the locker room. She thought she was going to go home without saying goodbye to him, but it made her heart tremble again.
“Hey,” she says, waking him up.
Suddenly, he stood up from his seat and, at the same time, dropped the coffee on the floor that he had brought earlier.
“s**t!” Hugo was devalued by what happened.
He spilled coffee on Lara. So, he dug into his pocket so fast that he could find any wipes, but he just sighed when he couldn't find anything.
He looked up at Lara and was shocked again when he saw her smiling at him. He just scratched his neck because of the embarrassment he had done to her. The man thought the woman would be angry with him, but she just laughed at him.
“Come on,” Lara commanded, her arms crossed.
He followed her into their locker room. She took a towel to wipe Hugo's wet t-shirt. As she wipes it, she catches him glancing at her. She just frowned and finished wiping him.
“Just wait for me outside; I'll just get dressed,” she said.
As she dressed, she couldn't help but grin at the thrill she felt. She took Hugo to Nepomuceno's coffee shop. Her favorite place to go whenever she gets tired at work Coffee is her stress reliever when she is so tired.
“Sit down first; I'll just order for us,” Hugo said.
As she sat, she stared at Hugo intently; from his messy hair down to his tangled long sleeves, he became even more handsome in her eyes. She smiled, staring him from the line. Her smile widened even more when she saw the coffee he had bought. Mocha Java coffee, her favorite coffee that she's always buying wherever she goes to the coffee shop.
Hugo was about to put the coffee on the table when he saw Lara's eyes shining at him. So Hugo played a prank on her.
“Hmp!” Hugo scolded her when Lara was about to take her coffee.
He saw her frown, so he wanted to make fun of her even more. He put the coffee in front of them, then sipped his own coffee. While Lara was salivating, looking at the coffee on the table. Hugo grinned even more at Lara's attitude now.
He didn't know that she was such a coffee lover. He looks at the two coffees lying on the table; until now, he hasn't let go of them. Hugo looked up with a smile, but he was just as shocked to see Lara raise an eyebrow, staring at him wickedly.
He sneezed and swallowed at Lara's look now, as if she were telling him it was my coffee. Instead of giving it up, he was even more eager to pursue his plan.
He sneezed again and ---
“Coffee or me?” he asked me, biting his lip and smiling.
To this day, he still looks the same. He finds it even more stressful to look at her, so that's how cold he felt when she spoke.
“Seriously?” I can't believe I asked Hugo.
He nods as he drinks his coffee. As for me, I still haven't drunk coffee because he hasn't given it to me yet.
“Tell me, coffee, or me?” Hugo asked me again.
“You don't need to ask me that. Because of course...” I said, hanging up.
I stared at him blankly and spontaneously grabbed the coffee without any difficulty. And then drank it.
“Of course, coffee. Coffee is lifer than you!” I smiled and replied to Hugo. I saw him twitch his lips.
“What's in that coffee? You've been staring at it for a while,” Hugo asked Lara.
Hugo don't know how this woman was able to reverse their conversation, so Hugo's plan was to make fun of her, but why is she's reversing now? He just scratched against her and then sipped his coffee.
“Well, like I said, coffee is better than anyone else,” Lara replied, smiling, and sipped her coffee again.
“I hope I'm just your coffee,” Hugo said.
“W-What?” I stuttered and asked confusedly.
“I hope I'm merely your coffee.”
What a fool it really is!
“W-Why?” I stuttered to ask him again.
Hugo smiled at me and then dropped the coffee. "So that I'm going to be your life." was a serious answer to me.
I was humbled by Hugo's answer to me. There was a part of me that was shaking, but I just felt more thrilled. I feel like I'm blushing with excitement. I felt even hotter when he held my hand.
I put down the coffee I was drinking, then took a bite and avoided his gaze. I would rather not stare at Hugo because I might do what's on my mind now. After a few minutes of silence, I noticed that my coffee was running low, so I bravely looked up at Hugo. I was so shocked when I met his eyes. Before we could stare at each other for long, I avoided looking at him.
“You're cute to bully.” Hugo smiled at me.
“And you're so annoying!” I teased Hugo and then arranged my things.
“Lara, I'm serious,” he said, then he stood up first and walked out of the coffee shop.
I was left stunned by Hugo's action. I didn't know he was serious because I thought we were just teasing each other...This is so crazy. I don't know where I should put myself in this cruel relationship, yet it's still perfectly fine with me.
