Writing was what I wanted to do, but destiny want me to be a doctor. For me, that’s not a bad thing, it’s just that I don’t want to be a doctor. But they say I will learn to liked it over time. And it’s true. I learn to liked it, but love is different from just being liked.
I am Lara Torres Vergara, I liked saving people’s life, I liked my duties, and my favorite part of the hospital is the operating room. But I was assigned to be at the hospital ward. While I was busy of being an intern doctor, I met a man who gave me love and sparks. And this is my stories…our stories.
“Delivery for Miss Vergara!” I heard a shout from the entrance of the hospital, it grabbed everyone’s attention because of the growing size teddy bear carried by the delivery boy.
I accepted the teddy bear with a frown, I was having trouble carrying it, so I just put it on the floor to sign the form. The delivery boy was about to leave, but I pulled him.
“Sir, may I ask if who is it from?”
“Oh, ma’am, it’s confidential, I’m not allowed to say any information about the sender, I might lose my job in no time,” the delivery boy explained, then turned his back on me and walked away.
Who’s creature that sends this to me? I didn’t have a boyfriend, I mean many wondered, but eventually, they also backed down because maybe they see me busy at work or do they have some other reason.
I carried the oversized teddy bear to our table.
“Hey, madam, what’s that?” Jessie asked me curiously.
“Obviously, it’s a teddy bear, madam!” I laughingly told her.
“Wow! From whom?” Jessie asked curiously.
I frowned at the teddy bear, it didn’t have anything attached or a letter to find out whom it came from.
“I don’t know, madam” I replied sadly to her. While Jessie just looked at me with an annoying smile.
“Wow, finally, someone dared to court you, madam! Such a long hair, madam!” Jessie teased me and poked me, she’d think I was tickled by what she was doing.
“Yup! I’m gorgeous! And it’s only natural for me to have an admirer, excuse me” I laughingly answered her, but there was still a part of me that asked who sent it.
There will be a delivery every day for me even though I didn’t order anything. Once again, there is still lunch for everyone.
“Miss Lara, you’re such a lucky girl with your secret admirers. They always worry you as well as us here bringing us food,” my co-worker said. I just smiled bitterly to them.
I need to talk to who is the sender. And tell him to stop this nonsense.
After weeks, months, and years the same thing still happens. My table is already full of flowers, I just don’t notice that the others have turned trite because of its length. When lunch came someone delivered again for me and for everyone, when it arrived at three in the afternoon, there was more coffee and cake.
It was eight o’clock in the evening when our shift ended. I was squeezing my neck and beating my back because of body pain. I would have liked to take a body massage, but it’s already late at night maybe next time when I have time. The important thing now is to go home and go to sleep.
I was arranging my belongings and clearing the table because of the scattered flower leaves. After I left, I lowered my face to the table to wait for Jessie. I was about to close my eyes when someone suddenly placed a flower on my table.
From the nod, I glanced at the shiny shoe, it didn’t look like a delivery boy because of that. I angrily looked up at the person standing in front of me. From his shoes to the jeans he was wearing, to his khaki T-shirt he was wearing, to his piercing chest, red lips, to his sharp nose, to his long eyelashes. Our eyesight was right, his eyes twinkling as it smiled at me. I just raised an eyebrow at him. Asking him with a frown, I look at him. We stared at each other for a few minutes until--
“Madam! Let’s go hom--” I heard Jessie’s voice.
Jessie didn’t continue what she was going to say when she realized that Lara’s attention was not on her, but on the man in front of her now.
“Hmm…” Jessie broke their moment.
Lara moved slightly away from the man because they were so close to each other.
“No. I don’t know him.” she immediately denied, even before Jessie asked.
She went back to her desk to get her things; she wasn’t even aware of how she got there in front of the man because he seemed to attract her just by looking at him.
“Oh, who are you, handsome? Don’t tell me you’re the mastermind of all the delivery stuff here?” Jessie asked curiously as she intently looked the man, looking from head to toe.
I cleared my throat to speak, but my heart was beating so fast, when I heard his voice. There’s something in his voice that makes my heart beats fast, it’s just that I don’t know what it is.
“Good evening, ladies! I’m Hugo Hazama Tuazon.” he introduces himself to Jessie, who is now still look an i***t.
I don’t know about that woman! She’s crazy! It’s like any time her saliva is dripping. So, I tap her side, she woke up and shook the man’s hand, at first, she preferred not to give up until Hugo turned his eyes to me and shook my hand.
“Lara,” I answered him briefly without accepting his hand, then led the walk out of the hospital to the parking lot.
“Yes. I’m the only one who brought the lunch, coffee, teddy bear, cake, everything.” Hugo said, confidently with a goofy smile.
I thought Jessie was going to speak, but like me, she also stopped walking. I looked at him again from head to toe, I was still not satisfied, and I took a good look at his face. He is handsome, he looks like a playboy because he is wearing an earring on the left side of his ear.
“Hey, don’t look at me like that. It’s like you’re getting me pregnant” he was threatening me while frowning.
I was humiliated by what he said. I suddenly felt heat in what he said. He had the strength to say that even though I had just met him.
“Such a thicker face, Mister!” I answered him rudely, as I continued walking to find my car.
I don’t like him, he’s too handsome for me. And I don’t like looks like this, I just want the right one, it’s like he’s just for me and can’t be taken away from me.
“Interesting!” he bit his lip and looked at me with a sticky look.
I immediately covered my body with my hands. Woe to this man! His sticky stares turn off.
“What did you say?!” I shout out as I ask him.
“Nothing. I said I’ll drive you home,” he offered me.
Is this man fooling me? Who is a fool who would agree to go with him even though I know him? Except maybe if it’s a w***e.
“No, thanks. We don’t like bothering you,” I said.
My excuses, the truth is I just don’t want him to know where I live. Perhaps later he’s a kidnapper or looking for a kidney to sell, we might be damned in the middle of the night. It’s so difficult to trust people who seen as a beautiful at first, but there’s an evilness hidden. That’s why I only one my friend since college until I found a stable job.
“Hello, is there anyone else? I’ve been talking for a couple of seconds.” he said.
“You know what, don’t you see it?” I pointed to my face.
“Why, what is there? It’s beautiful!” he said.
There’s my pest heart beating again, you stopped Lara, you just met him!
“Can you give me even a little time of silence? I’m tired now, and the only thing you can help at this moment is let me go home early.” I said, annoyingly.
He barely shrugged his shoulders at what I said to him.
“All right. But next time? Is it okay?” he’s annoying me.
I thought he was going to give up, but he even made me say yes to his request. He won’t really stop me.
Instead of arguing, I just sighed and nodded before getting into the car and driving away. I want to sleep and rest.
When I get home. Our housemaid Terry greeted me. I kissed her. She is like my second mother.
“Oh, Lara did you stay up late? Have you eaten yet?”
“Yeah, there are many patients in the hospital. I’m still full. Did mom and dad come home today?”
“Is that so? They haven’t come home today yet, maybe tomorrow they can come home here.”
Terry’s answer dropped my shoulder even more. This is always the scenario I find myself in, so before my tears could finally fall, I said goodbye and went to my room. I took a shower and got dressed. Laying down on my bed and be immediately visited by drowsiness.
Saturday, I woke up at noon. This is my longest sleep. My today’s shift was at night, so I have a long day today.
I didn’t even bother to wash because I was already hungry. I woke up when I felt my stomach boiling with hunger. Yawning and stretching, I went down the stairs. When I heard someone laughing, I closed my eyes and went downstairs and didn’t bother to look at whom the people were. I immediately took rice, and the dish was immediately placed on my plate. Before I ate what I was going to eat, I suddenly stopped because of the silence, the noise I heard earlier was no longer there. I ate what I was going to eat and then looked up. Suddenly, I was blinded by what I ate, I had no thorns to choke on. I was immediately given water to drink. Wait, how did he find out that I live here, and he seats beside my parents, in front of me.
“Hey, babe! Did you sleep well?”
What the hell?!
