Chapter 2

*Celeste P.O.V* Lucky for me there is no training on weekends. This gives me time to rest and catch up on sleep. Although today I am woken up by loud construction. I groan and get out of bed to peak out of the window. I slightly move the curtain to see pack members working on the damages around the grounds. Pack houses are well spread out with the Alpha and Beta’s house middle of the grounds towards the back of the territory. It’s easy to see the grounds from my bedroom. I sit back down on my bed to check my phone and see three new messages from Cynthia and Melinda. They want to go shopping today and then grab a bite to eat. I immediately text them yes. I ask them to pick me up in an hour and a half. Every month the regional alphas, betas and gammas meet to discuss pressing matters or ongoing issues. Lucky for us this when the Ridley’s throw their biggest parties. The Lunas and their guests also meet during this time which means that we are left alone to hang out with each other. I rush to shower and change. Since its late March, the weather is nice and sunny. The morning breeze is cool and light. I put on some black skinny jeans and a pink casual short sleeve top. I slip into some black vans and grab my cross body bag. As I make my way downstairs, I hear the maids inside the house cleaning. Sarah, one of our maids, is dusting the carpets. Her daughter Rosemary is stripping the curtains from the living room.   “Good morning Aunt Sarah” I say as I find them downstairs. Rosemary turns to glare at me, as Sarah approaches to hug me.   “Hello my sweet girl” She says as she hugs me. I hug her back and bury my face in her hair for a second.   “Are you heading out?” She asks me as she releases me from her embrace.   “Yeah, just to hang out with some friends” I tell her. I smile at her. Sarah has been one of our maids for fifteen years now. She had been the nicest one of all the maids we’ve had. She always allowed me to help her in the garden when it was time to plant the roses or be her assistant in the kitchen. Rosemary was the same age as Andrea and Carla but we didn’t have a close relationship with her. She mostly kept to her work and would rarely talk to us. Although I would see her hang out with Arnold and the other omega members. Sarah’s husband is the driver for uncle Hans and also a guard. Unfortunately, their three sons were recruited by Alpha Sean to be guards at his territory.   “Be careful and make sure you take a sweater” Sarah says as she reaches for a nearby sweater.   “Oh I don’t-” Sarah puts the sweater in my hands as she gives me another hug. “Have fun” she tells me as she lets me go. I smile and wave goodbye as I walk outside. As soon as I’m outside, I text Cynthia that I’ll be waiting by the entrance. As I walk to the entrance, a slight breeze passes me and it makes me shiver a little. “You should wear the sweater” A concerned voice tells me from behind. Butterflies instantly flutter my stomach and warmth fills me at the sound of his voice. I hear the sound of his footsteps coming closer. “They say it will be warmer later today” He says as he comes from behind to stand in front of me. He smiles at me and a small laugh escapes me. It’s Noah, he’s all sweaty having just been back from training. He looks at me with a puzzling look and I suddenly don’t know how to talk. I just nod at him before I feel my phone vibrating. Neither one of us wants to look away first but I feel a second vibration. It’s Cynthia, she’s telling me that she’s waiting for me by the entrance. I look up to see Noah still looking at me before his facial expression changes. He’s waiting for me to talk to him.   “Yeah” I suddenly blurt out. Giving him a weak smile, I try to walk away but not before he says “See you later”. He looks hurt, maybe he was hoping I would say more. But why would he expect more after nearly ignoring me the last few months? My chest was hurting a little at this thought. After a thirty minute drive to the mall, we decide to go to a small boutique first. All the clothes here are extremely beautiful except for the shoes. Next we browse department stores and outlets. I try on some blouses and dresses while Melinda tries on the skirts. After a full day of shopping, we decide to eat something before going back home. We settle on an Italian Restaurant for lunch. The pasta fettuccine here is one of my favorite meals, not only is the sauce creamy and rich but the portions are enough to fill you for the whole day. The hostess escorts us to the patio table seats facing the street. As we look through the menu, we hear a familiar voice calling our names.   “Mel, Celeste, Cyn! What are you guys doing here?” I look up to see Michael Ridley heading our way. He was followed by another classmate of ours called Lucas and Scott. The same Scott that Noah got into a fight in January. Scott’s eyes meet mine before I look away.   “What are you guys doing here?” Cynthia asks them. She’s giving them a flirtatious smile and twirls a piece of her hair with her finger. The boys fall for this as they stand closer to us. Michael flashes his devious smile at Cynthia before he gets close to her face.   “Mind if we join?” Michael asks. If their faces were any closer they would be kissing. Melinda’s eyes shift between us and the boys before she slightly kicks Cynthia under the table. Cynthia stares daggers at her before shifting her eyes to me. I avoid all of them by looking at the menu.   “Sorry boys” Melinda says giving an exaggerated sad face, “Girls days.” I look up and smile at them as she says this. Michael finally backs off before he laughs. “Oh come on, lets us sit with you” He says.   “You’ll see us tonight” Melinda says as she shifts her attention back to the menu. Lucas laughs while Scott gives me a warm smile. He hasn’t taken his eyes off me during this whole time. My shyness doesn’t allow me to meet his gaze.     “It’s alright, it’s as you say we’ll see you tonight.” Scott says as he turns to Melinda. He leans closer to me and whispers into my ear “I guess I’ll see you tonight Cel” He turns to leave with Michael and Lucas following. After they are gone, Cynthia and Melinda give me a questioning look. I shrug and continue looking at the menu. It’s weird, boys usually don’t pay attention to me expect Scott. Even though he lives further away and goes to a different school, he always compliments me. The last time he came was during the championship game. We briefly talked before we went into the gymnasium. He had invited out to ice cream after the game. Then Noah and Scott got into a fight and everyone was ordered to go home early. We exchanged numbers after all of the commotion died down. The day after the fight, I reached out to Scott and asked him if he was alright. This is how we got close, we would text every day and sometimes talk through FaceTime. Although, it was different seeing him in person than seeing him on a screen. After lunch, we head home. The car drives up to the pack entrance where Arnold allows me in.    “Good Afternoon Betaaaa Celeste” Arnold chuckles as he stretches the A in beta. I roll my eyes and thank him for letting me in. As I walk up to my house, I notice that all the construction is almost done. Some Omegas are taking a water break while others are continuing to work. Some omegas glare at me before returning to work. I rush home and get ready for tonight.
