A Strange Dream and A Young Girl

Run! Go now! The voice it’s not familiar but I do what it says and I run. I have no idea why I’m running but I do as the weird, but oddly soothing, voice says. Fear that’s all I feel and I can’t understand why. That’s when I see him lying in the middle of the field behind our house. Xander, my handsome mate, lying on the ground. Why is he lying there? Why won’t he get up? I try to call to him but nothing comes out and I find I can no longer move. Then I see a man walk up and lean over him. I can’t see his face but that strange yet soothing voice comes back.

Don’t let him get to close. Xander will listen to you. If he doesn’t, make him. You must stay with him no matter what. He will try to use everyone against you.

I’m finally able to turn around but when I do the scene changes and I’m back at my birth pack, Silver Lake. But something’s wrong I can feel it. I walk up to the pack house and through the door. I hear noises coming from the hallway leading to my dads office and I start to head there. Just outside the door I hear two people talking. I recognized them as my parents once I got closer and could hear what they were saying.

“She doesn’t know anything so it doesn’t matter. We will keep her safe and away from him, somehow.” I heard my father say with fear lacing his voice.

“We should have just told her about him and why he is dangerous. Lucien will stop at nothing to have my family’s bloodline under his control.” My mom replied sounding angry and scared.

“She is safe where is at.”

“Not as safe as she could be if we had just told them. We must head there and explain everything. If we don’t she is going to go through it alone and I can’t let her do that. She is not going to be able to handle it.” Mom said trying to keep calm.

I couldn’t just listen anymore and reached for the handle of the door. I’m so confused and need to know what they are talking about. But when the door opens I don’t see my parents or the office. I see a room that looks like it’s being remodeled. When I look around I see a woman I’ve never seen before.

I swear I’m not your enemy. I only want to help.

I hear her speaking but her lips aren’t moving. She is quite beautiful with long wavy golden hair and beautiful green eyes. She smiled at me when she saw my confused look.

I can’t explain but you will be meeting me soon. No matter what anyone says or does, just know that I’m here for you. You must be kept safe. You are the last hope our bloodline has.

“I don’t understand. What is going on?” I ask when I’m finally able to speak.

Chelsea will explain along with your parents. She is not the enemy and will always choose to protect you over him. That’s what you need and all I can say. Now it’s time for you to wake up. It looks as though I’ve kept you too long.

Before I can ask anything else a bright light shines and blinds me. When I’m able to open my eyes I see white walls and ceiling, like I’m in a hospital. I sit up with much difficulty and I look to my right where I see Xander sleeping and looking very uncomfortable. I realize I am indeed in a hospital and the dream comes back to me. But why am I in the hospital? ‘Someone tried to poison us. You’ve been out for three days.’ Kylie said sounding irritated. I was shocked and even more confused as to how. I looked to my left and saw Anna in the other bed. I was trying to wrap my head around everything and decided to wake up Xander. I tried to move my legs off the bed but they were extremely weak and a sharp pain shot through both legs starting at my ankles. I winched and gasped in pain and that’s when Xander woke up.

“Oh thank the goddess you’re awake. Let me get the doctor and let her know.” He said as he mind linked the pack Doctor. As soon as he looked back at me she came in. She was pretty with brown hair and and glasses that made her look like a teacher. She came over and started to check my vitals. I thought it was odd she didn’t say anything but then I noticed she had earbuds in. Which was even more odd. When she was done with her check up she smiled at me and removed her earbuds and spoke softly to me.

“Hello I’m Doctor Shelly Moore and I’m sorry for the earbuds. I just find it easier to do my job when I’m not being questioned all the time. Isn’t that right Alpha?” She asked while giving him a stern look. He didn’t say thing he just chuckled and grabbed my hand.

“What happened to us?” I asked quickly.

“Well with the results of the bloodwork it looks as though someone poisoned the three of you with the tea you drank. I was able to figure out what was in the poison and start treatment immediately.”

“Three of us? So it wasn’t just Anna and I?” I was worried about Anna and now knowing there was three of us that were affected it angered me.

“Yes, Jessica was also affected but my team and I were able to stop the effects. You three will need to relax for a few days and come back in for a check up and more bloodwork in about a week. Don’t worry about your legs. The pain will go away in a few hours. You haven’t been out of bed so they will be sore and stiff for a little bit.”

“Thank you Doctor.” And with that she examined Anna who was still sleeping and then left. I turned to look at Xander so I could tell him about my dream but was unable to speak as his lips crashed into mine. The kiss was full of want and love. I could feel his relief through the bond and I melted in his arms. When we finally broke for air he told me what happened in the three days I was out. Apparently when Jessica and I didn’t come down for breakfast Lucas and Xander called for Doctor Moore immediately and when she informed them of Anna’s condition she ordered for all of us to be brought in. She had everything we touched tested and that was how she found out about the tea. Since we all had different amounts the effects were different for all of us. Jessica was released yesterday morning and Anna woke up last night but wouldn’t leave until I woke up. I told him about my dream and when I mentioned Chelsea’s name again his face changed and he looked like he was disgusted.

“Why do you get that face when her name is mentioned?” I asked him, curious as to why he disliked her so much.

“She used to stalk me. She left a year ago for college but she returned yesterday and has been bugging to meet you. I figured it was to try to get you to leave so she could have me. She makes me uncomfortable and I’m not sure I can trust her around you.”

“Well I have to trust her. Something is wrong and she has the answers. Along with my parents she is the only one who knows what’s going on.” I understood where he was coming from but when a werewolf has strange dreams they have to listen to them. They could end up being meaningless or they could mean bad is coming your way.

“How about we talk to your parents first and then decide if we need to talk to Chelsea.” He said while trying to use his Alpha aura on me. I just blinked at him and laughed while he just shook his head and sighed.

“I’m not gonna win this am I?” He asked while a smile tugged at his lips. I stopped laughing and shook my head no.

“She is extremely stubborn and doesn’t like to take orders.” Anna said and scared the hell out of both of us. She just giggled and grabbed her phone off the stand next to her bed.

“Fine but you can’t speak to her until we are home and you are safe. I’m going to ask Shelly when we can leave.” Xander said to me with a stern look on his face. I couldn’t help but admire him. ‘Can we please complete the bond when we are healed. I want me a piece of that nicely shaped ass.’ Kylie asked while making some weird s****l noises. I just ignored her and asked Anna to help me into the bathroom. She smiled and nodded while she got out of her bed. She tried not to hurt me and kept apologizing for the pain. Sometimes I forget she is a werewolf with how gentle and sweet she is. I asked her about the young girl and Anna’s face changed. She said that she couldn’t tell me but she would take me to the girls room after we got dressed. My legs were sore and stiff but I forced them to move the way I needed to at least get shorts on. When were both dressed Anna held on to my arm and helped me walk down the hallway to the room that had the young girl in it. She was hooked up to all kinds of monitors and machines. I walked to the side of the bed and I wanted to cry. She was so young and it looked like she had been beaten pretty bad. Both of her eyes were bruised but her left one was swollen shut. Since she hasn’t shifted due to being too young she wasn’t healing like would with her wolf.

“We had to put her in a coma so we could help her. She was so scared she wouldn’t let us near her. I didn’t have any other option.” Dr. Moore said while checking the monitors.

“What all is wrong with her and how bad are her injuries?” My voice cracked as I spoke. I have never seen anyone endure such brutality.

“She has two broken ribs and her left ankle was sprained. Her face and back seem to be where most of her injuries are. We are going to keep her sedated for another 24 hours. When she wakes up we are hoping she will be a little calmer and more willing to let us help her. It looks as though she has been abused for a while now. She has a lot of scarring and from the X-ray results this isn’t the first time she has had a broken rib or two.” The doctor looked like she wanted to cry too. It’s very uncommon for our kind to treat each other with such brutality and hate. A pack is a family and knowing that others let this girl go through hell and did nothing to help her infuriates me.

“Could you let me know when she wakes up please? I would like to speak to her and try to help as much as I can.” I needed her to know that she was safe with me and this pack. She is going to be scared and needs someone in her corner.

“Of course Luna. I will send a mind link the second she wakes. She is my top priority now that you are awake and doing well enough to wander around.” She said with a slight giggle at the end.

I thanked her, took one last look at the girl, and then turned to ask Anna if she was ready to go find Xander and leave. She was sitting in a chair waiting for me to be ready. As we were leaving she went from holding my arm to holding my hand and showing me she was here to help me. We found Xander at the nurses station waiting for us at the counter with Max. We signed our discharge papers and left the building. On our way home two questions were on my mind. Who put the poison in the tea? And what the hell did my dream mean?
