Time to Celebrate!

I drove for about 20 minutes before reaching the mall. I found a parking space in record time. We started looking around and grabbing random things but nothing expensive. I was window shopping when I noticed this beautiful blue knee length dress. There was a gold belt around the waist to make it flow around the legs more. I was instantly in love with it and for some reason decided to get it for the party. As I was checking out the cashier mentioned the perfect shoes to go with it just a few stores down. I thanked her and was headed to get shoes. Mandy decided to follow since she always needs new shoes while Chris decided to go check out electronics.

We were looking at the pair heels the cashier suggested and boy was she spot on. They werethe same shade of blue as the dress with a low heel and a gold strap around the ankle. I immediately found my size and tried them on, just to be sure they would fit. I couldn't wait to wear this whole outfit tonight. 'I have this feeling that tonight is going to change our lives for the better.' Kylie beamed in my head and I couldn't agree with her more. Tonight was going to be a great night. We paid for our things and then headed to find Chris which wasn't hard he was just leaving the gaming store with a couple of new games. We decided to call it a day and head home to get ready. The drive back always seemed to be quicker and that was fine by me I really wanted to start getting ready. As I pulled into the driveway, I could see everyone taking stuff out back to the clearing setting up for the party. We offered our help but they told us that everything was good. So we went our separate ways to get ready. Chris and Mandy went to their room on the second floor and I trudged up the stairs to my room. Kylie started getting really anxious again and I was worried I was going to get another headache. I really wish I knew what was going on but she wouldn't tell me anything. finally reaching my room I hopped in the shower, just to get the sweat from the day off, before getting ready for my party. I'm happy I'm 18 and I'm happy I'm going to be the next Alpha, yet I still feel so sad. 'Because we haven't found our mate yet.' Kylie sighed and let out a small whimper. 'I know but maybe someday we will.'

I reassured her knowing that once I become Alpha I will have to travel to other packs and that will give me a chance.

Feeling better with myself, I headed to the floor length mirror in my closet to get a better look at myself. To say that I was happy with the way I looked was an understatement. The dress itself made my red hair pop. It was half up half down and the ends were curled. I'm not big on make-up so I just used a little bit of eye liner and a clear lip gloss. A knock on my door brings me from my thoughts. I left my closet and went to open my door to see who it was. I was expecting Mandy to be there but it was my other best friend Anna.

"Hey Mia, ready for your party?" She asked me with a smile on her face. Her brown hair was down and crimped just enough to make her beautiful brown doe eyes pop and her make-up had a natural look to it. She was wearing a short outfit with a t-shirt and some sandals. She was a beautiful woman and whoever her mate was, he sure was one lucky wolf.

"Of course. I'm so excited!!" I replied while shutting my door. As we made our way downstairs Anna complimented my dress. I will always love her shyness. No matter how long she had known you she was still very shy towards you and I was okay with it. Mandy and Chris were waiting by the back door for us. Chris was wearing his casual clothes, blue jeans with sneakers and a red t-shirt, while Mandy was wearing a pink sundress and her new wedges. Somehow I just knew she was going to find something to wear them with.

"You look beautiful Mia. Now lets party!" Mandy exclaimed and rushes us all out the back door. I was happy and excited to celebrate with my pack. As we entered the clearing I looked around and couldn't help the huge smile on my face. There was a DJ and dance area on the left, a table for the gifts, and a seating area that was in the shape of a crescent moon with a table in the middle. On the table was a white five tier cake that had red and blue ribbons along the edges. The lettering on the top tier read Happy Birthday Mia. I loved everything about this party and it hadn't even started. Soon enough my dad started to address the pack.

"Today is a special day as it is my daughter's 18th birthday! Mia you are an amazing woman and daughter. Your strong not just physically but emotionally too. You worked hard to get where you are today and your mother and I couldn't be more proud. We are happy to be celebrating your birthday together not just as a pack but as a family. We will also be welcoming the Blood Moon Pack to celebrate with us when they arrive shortly. Happy Birthday Mia!" His massive voice booming across the clearing with everyone cheering at the end. I shed a few happy tears with a huge smile on my face. My parents really were my inspiration and I couldn't be happier. After his speech my parents walked up to our little group.

"Happy birthday sweetie, I'm so proud of you!" my mother said her eyes showing her pride.

"Thank you guys, I love you both so much." I said while hugging them.

We were celebrating and dancing when it came time for the gifts. I received many gifts from so many friends and family. Mandy and Chris got me a new Bluetooth stereo system for my car, my parents had gotten me a brand new laptop for the online college courses I was going to be starting in the fall, and Shawn got me a new smart TV. It was the newest model 65" loaded with all my favorite apps and cable channels. But my favorite was Annas gift. She had gotten me the entire Naruto and Naruto Shippuden anime series. She knew I loved anime and got me one of my favorite shows. I thanked everyone and decided to dance a little longer, since some people were still eating, before the cake and ice cream.

It was while we were dancing that Kylie started getting restless and stir crazy again. It was giving me a headache but she wouldn't tell me why. So I decided to go inside the packhouse to get some Advil or something for the pain. Just as I reached the back door I saw four vehicles driving up the driveway. I figured it was Blood Moon and continued my search for the pain reliever. I finally found it and took it with a glass of water. I had just opened the back door to leave when I noticed the most calming sent. It smelled like a rainstorm mixed with fresh linen. It was calming Kylie and, acting on my instincts, I followed the heavenly sent. It seemed to be coming from my party but when I got back I couldn't continue my search as my friends and mother surrounded me.

"It's time to cut the cake sweetie. Everyone is waiting for you hun, including Blood Moon." My mother said with excitement and pride. We made our way to the center of the crowd and my father joined me and my mother. I had a parent on each side and Shawn handed me the knife for the cake. Just as I started cutting, the soothing scent reached my nose stronger then ever. I looked around as I was finishing and when our eyes locked Kylie finally spoke. 'MATE!' Was all she said and my eyes grew wide with shock and fear. Shock because the man she just called my mate was none other than Xander Matthews, Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. He looked just like the rumors said, gorgeously handsome. His short black hair was long enough to spike and his facial features were something out of the movies. His eyes were a deep green and made my heart want to melt, his body had the perfect amount of muscle, and the clothes he wore showed off every delicious curve. But the fear I was feeling was not because of the rumors about how ruthless he was. I was worried he would reject me for wanting to become Alpha instead of letting a male take it. I stood there frozen staring at him which caused a silence among the crowd. He finally spoke and while his voice was deep and husky, it was sexy as hell. He only said one word.

"Mate!"

So I did the only thing I could think of, I ran. I took off towards the forest and didn't plan on stopping until I was far enough away. I didn't want him to reject me and it was that fear that had me ignoring Kylies pleads for me to go back and give him a chance. I just couldn't, I was too afraid. This was the first time I have ever felt fear as bad as this and I didn't know what to do. I was thinking about heading to my secret spot when I heard someone running after me and from the sounds of it they were fast. I didn't need to look to know who it was because I could feel him through the mate bond. That didn't stop me, it only made me push myself harder, but he was faster then me and had finally caught up which startled me and caused me to trip. I closed my eyes and put my arms out to brace my fall when I felt Xander catch me, stopping me from face planting into a fallen tree. My eyes were still closed but the sparks from where his hands were holding my arm and back sent chills down my spine and not in a bad way. I opened my eyes to him staring at me with an expression that showed longing and hope. I went to speak but didn't get the chance. He smashed his lips into mine. The kiss was full of passion and longing. Honestly I didn't want it to end. It didn't last long though as he pulled away to look into my eyes again. I was breathless and speechless. 'He is one hell of a kisser.' Kylie chimed in my head which made me remember why I ran. Even though he kissed me he could still reject me. More people were approaching and I just knew my parents were part of the group. I was about to push myself out of Xanders arms when his grip on me tightened. He growled out a word that made everyone who was getting close stop in their tracks from the Alpha power. But not me, in fact it only turned me on. The tone of his voice and the look on his face made it sexy as hell.

"MINE!"
