The carriage paused for a second outside the palace gates. It took an hour just to get towards the palace gates. I thought that the palace was so near the main city, but I was mistaken because my ass is so numb from sitting for so long. I gazed towards the window of the carriage and saw two guards heading towards the coachman. Maybe they were confirming my identity or asking who I might be. They talked for a moment, and later on I saw the guards’ eyes widen in surprise. They shifted their gaze toward mine. Our eyes met, which made them immediately bow their heads as a sign of respect.
