Claire A horrid smell emitted from the oven and Claire"s eyes watered as she wafted the steam away. She pulled the tray out in a desperate attempt to save her chocolate chip cookies but the damage was done. The fire alarm switched on, blaring through Claire"s flat and no doubt annoying all of her neighbours. She hurried to the alarm and waved her towel in front of it, attempting to get the smoke away. She had to use the back end of a broom to turn the siren off, which helped with the awful noise but not the horrible smell. Claire returned to the tray of cookies, examining them.
