45 She abandoned her plan to decorate her room and instead decided to get a job. It didn’t make sense to decorate, she decided; maybe this would be her home for five years, but that was still temporary. She wanted it to feel that way. She did not want to make a home with augmented-reality goggles. If her cramped dorm somehow began to feel like home, Sara wanted it to happen organically, over time and from good memories, not because she tried to force it through a feat of artificial interior design. Some part of her malaise, she thought, was due to a lack of purpose; empty days were intimidating and made her lose the point of living.
