Carol's POV
The ascent was brutal. We had to be careful so lightning would strike us. Jace used a spell to protect us in case it hit us, but he wasn't sure how well it would work. We knew that if he or I died, it wouldn't be a problem, but it would still delay us, and time was not something we had on our side.
We noticed that the wind started howling like an angry beast when we were in the middle. It was as if we had awoken something within the mountain, making our ascend more difficult.
Ignis was ahead; he was leading the way as he was the only one who knew this place. Jace was using his magic to keep us all safe. Ignis also reminded me not to open my wings; they could catch on fire, so we both kept them safe.
"We are close," Estel commented, which made me sigh in relief.
