My phone vibrated endlessly in my pocket. Something in the way it vibrated signaled an urgency made my body weak. I answered the phone my hand shook as I lifted the phone to my ear. "Sir, your wife just packed her things and left; I found her ring next to her bed." Greg's voice rasped through my speaker. "f**k!" I dialed her number five times my body shaking as I waited. "What Domenico?" She sounded so defeated my lost all feeling as I tried to think of something, anything to make her stay turn around. I could hear the rain and the moving car taking her further away from me. "Turn back; go home I'll be there when you get back." I told her as I walked to my car I opened it and climbed in waiting for her to answer. "Home? It's not my home you have made that really clear, I understand though I've made peace with the fact that you really don't love me and that you never will." I heard the pain and I could see her hurt facial expression. I sighed and then the sound of tires screeching almost deafened me. My heart stopped completely when I had the crash moments later. "Gaia! Are you okay?" I screamed in panic as my organs were being crushed from the inside and my legs went numb as I waited to hear her voice. "I will always love you Dom and one day you will love someone the way I love you and you will have an amazing life." Her voice broke again and she went quiet. "Gaia stay awake I'm coming, keep talking you need to stay awake, please." I spoke into my car as I sped out of the lot once I tracked her car. My tires screamed against the road as I drove to her my mind racing as I tried to keep her talking. All I got was sounds but it was better than nothing. When I got to her I unbuckled her seat belt and pulled her out the window of her car. "Gaia." I moved the hair out of her face and wrapped my jacket jacket around her. I felt my heart ache as she lay in my arms, defeated so broken and all because I refused to give her a chance. To give us a chance, and as she laid there I couldn't help but think about how happy I could have made her. Everything around me was a blur; she was all I could see. This time instead of smiling and making me want to get closer to her, her eyes were closed and the light in them I enjoyed seeing so much was hidden from me. We were already at the hospital and they were struggling to resuscitate her. Her best friend came storming she turned to me. "Are they okay?" She half whispered through her tears. I was confused till she looked her stomach. I had to hold on to the wall for stability. I looked at her in shock. "She's pregnant?"
