WESTMINSTER ACADEMY
Laura was perched at her desk, the monotonous tap-tap-tap of her pen, a familiar comfort amidst the silence of her lonesome. Leaning in, her eyes were fixed on Austin Bradford.
The hottest boy in Westminster Academy.
She watched as he looked at the teacher, his eyebrows carved up. His lips tight and his muscles flexing through his shirt.
Laura couldn’t help but fan-girl over him. That was she have been doing since the beginning of the class anyway. Admiring him.
Austin was handsome in every respect. His face was flawless, not a single blemish could be found, he had a chiseled jaw and broad shoulders, his eyes were blue and reminded her of the beautiful sky.
Laura loved the way he carried himself with so much prestige. She loved the way he spoke, his British accent made her swoon.
Austin Bradford was the son of the British ambassador to America. He was stinkingly rich, tall, handsome and muscular for a guy his age. He had an appearance that made him stand out in the crowd.
The Bradford’s were one of the most respected families in Britain. He’s father was an ambassador. His mother was the special adviser to the queen. They were almost like royalty.
He had the best of everything, the latest cars, most expensive technology devices and a billionaire trust fund.
"No I shouldn't be doing this,” Laura muttered to herself as she tried to pay attention but she couldn’t.
She couldn’t bring herself to listen to anything the teacher said, especially since she was the only girl in the midst of nothing less than twenty boys.
Her eyes darted from left to right, as she feasted her eye on each of them.
They were so polished, posh and elegant. They all looked like a million bucks.
Probably because they were, every guy sitting there were either sons of presidents, prime ministers, A-list celebrities, kings or famous business tycoons.
Whatever it was, old money or new money. They were all sitting in the same class with Laura Green.
Laura Green was sixteen years old girl. The only daughter of a single mother. Her mother sold hand made products to make ends meet for her and her delinquent brother.
Laura Green was the only student in Westminster Academy that didn’t have a million dollar net worth or didn’t have a yatch, she could use to cruise round the world. Her father left after she was born, her mother was a street vendor and her older brother spent his days in and out of jail for petty theft.
To top it all up, Laura Green was the only female in the school.
That’s right....
Laura was a female studying in an all boys school. She had been giving an exclusive scholarship to study in Westminster Academy. The management were trying to incorporate Co-Ed in the school and she was the only girl chosen out of the thousands that applied.
But Laura didn’t count herself lucky, for in the few weeks that she was in the school, she had observed that the boys were nothing but self-absorbed, snobbish, egoistic kids who bullied and picked on her at every chance they got.
To them, she was an outsider, a nobody and she didn’t deserve to be there.
The only thing that comforted Laura was the free tuition. She also got steal glances at the boys every moment she got. She always felt she was walking in the midst of demi-gods every time she walked down the school hallway.
The boys exceeded handsome, they were gorgeous, their cologne smelt ridiculously expensive and they felt like they could do anything they liked to anyone.
“Laura,”
“Laura,”
The science teacher, Mr Adams, called her name, but she didn’t reply. Not that she didn’t want to, but she didn’t hear, she was eyeing her crush, her mind was faraway, filled with all things unholy and naughty while her mouth wide open.
She was still lost in thoughts when she felt something sticky in her mouth.
She spat it out quickly, it was a spit ball. She looked around as the whole class laughed at her. From the corner of her eyes she could see Derek Howard, the school quarterback laughing so hard, he almost cried. He was holding a straw. Laura was so sure he was the one that did it.
Derek bullied Laura at any chance he got, it was like he was rewarded for it or bullying her just just made him feel better.
Whatever the reason was, the first child of the King of Arcadia and the heir to the throne made it his job to humiliate Laura in every way possible. From putting a spider in her locker on her first day of school, to tying her school laces so she could trip.
He was her number one bully.
Laura bent her head down as the teacher crossed his arms and stared at her angrily.
She knew how annoyed he was and she hated it.
Laura liked Mr Adams, he taught her favourite subject, Science and he was very nice to her.
“Do you care to explain why you weren’t paying attention Miss Green?,” Mr Adams asked angrily. He was annoyed that Laura wasn’t paying attention when he was teaching. She was the best in the class, the only one in the whole school that put in effort to learn. He expected it from the boys, but her, he was so disappointed.
“I’m sorry...I-“ Laura stammered trying to find the right excuse to give but she was interrupted by Derek.
“She wasn’t paying attention because she was undressing Austin with her eyes,” Derek cut in, throwing his head back as he laughed.
The whole class erupted in laughter, some pointed at Laura while the others threw paper balls at her. Laura bent her head in shame, she was so embarrassed. She hated Derek at that moment.
“Stop it all of you,” the teacher yelled, hitting his clenched fists on the table causing the class to go silent.
Everyone feared Mr Adams, he was a strict no-nonsense man. He had served in the army for more than ten years and he didn’t care if they had enough money to stop world hunger or if the boys shoe was worth more than his yearly salary. He never put up with their silly behavior and disciplined them anyway he could.
He glared at Derek, who sheepishly sunk in his chair.
“Laura and Derek, detention after school,” he said before turning back and scribbling on the board.
Laura slowly sat back on her chair and dug her face into her textbook. She felt so embarrassed and ashamed. She was so sure that Austin hated her.
She turned towards Derek. He stuck his tongue and wiggled his head at her. She couldn’t believe how childish he was and worse of all. She was about to spend detention with him.
How bad could her day get.
