Chapter Ten – Blackie Jenkins Two doors down from the Wheeler's, in a smart Victorian terraced house, Blackie Jenkins and his family resided in moderate comfort, through hard work, pride and love. Just like his forefathers, Blackie had worked in the coal mine all of his adult life, married a local girl with inexpensive tastes and raised his family to look out for one other and those around them. His moniker, given by old man Jenkins in jest after his son's first proper shift at the pit, was the only name by which Blackie was ever referred to.
