Rose's gaze focused on the ground as she was escorted into the carriage by the gaurds, getting in right after Caspian and sitting in front of him.
When the gaurds got in last, the carriage began to move. Rose noticed that it seemed to be turning around to where it first came from but she didn't say anything.
She was scared, what had she gotten herself into. Who was this man anyway? And if he was an Alpha…was this really his pack?
The fact that she was new to the eastern wolf regions made it harder for Rose to even know about anyone, let alone Alphas from packs.
As she got lost in thought, she did not notice the steady gaze of Caspian on her as he examined her. He noticed her shivering, something Rose wanted to hide. Looking down at the bag next to him, he pulled out the thick woolen expensive looking coat inside and threw it to her.
"Wear this." He said, watching her grab it gratefully.
"Th—thank you, Milord.." she said softly putting on the coat. She did not fail to notice the shocked but concealed expression on the gaurds faces.
Such an expensive coat, something meant for a lady and Alpha Caspian was just giving it away to a homeless looking girl he just met? The men could not believe their eyes but didn't react.
"Make sure you wear it correctly," Caspian said as he saw her look up at him, "I wouldn't want my new pet slave freezing to death." He looked away with a smirk as he saw the slightly shocked expression on her face over his words. She seemed quiet as she contemplated and got lost in her thoughts again.
Caspian was about to chuckle over the expression on her face when he heard her soft voice come up again, "Please don't put me in a Harem.."
Caspian looked her over, a cheeks and nose already red from a possible cold, her eyes pleading with him.
The gaurds looked shocked. This girl..
She hadn't been here five minutes and she was already giving conditions on what she wants and what she doesn't want.
"If I want to, I will. At the end, it's my decision and you obey because you now belong to me."
The gaurds cheered inwardly as they passed glances at each other.
"But," they all looked at Caspain who leaned back and closed his eyes again, "I don't you'd survive a day in a harem."
The expression on Rose's face was one of instant relief as she lay back and clutched the seemingly oversized coat which wouldn't have been oversized if she knew how to wear it correctly. Caspian knew this but decided not to tell her.
"Do you have a name?"
She nodded, "Rose."
His eyes immediately went to her red hair that tumbled down her face, "Mhmm.."
"Why were you running away, Rose?" He asked further.
"My father…" she started, "He was going to sell me."
"I see.." he asked and didn't say anything else, leaning back and closing his eyes again.
Rose expected more questions and since none came, she decided to lean back down and think. She really wondered where they were going and what was going to happen to her now. Her hazel eyes looked back at the strange man in front of him, his features suddenly clear now that she was out of danger.
He looked so…powerful, so beautiful. Rose paused, she wasn't sure if that was the word to describe him but his features were extraordinarily unnatural.
"Staring is rude, you know that right?"
Rose gasped as his eyes went open and he stared unblinkingly at her. Embarrassed, she lowered her gaze and looked at her feet, hoping that this ride would end quick enough.
"Whoa, whoa." Rose's head shot forward as she heard the carriage man pull the horses to a shop. Finally, they had arrived. She was not sure if she should be excited as she did not still know, where exactly they were but hopefully it was better than being cooped up here with….him.
The gaurds stepped out one by one, holding the door open for them. Caspian went first and Rose followed, standing next to him and suddenly feeling small as he towered above her.
He watched her curious gaze move from him to the vast building in front of her as the carriage rolled away, her expression one of shock and surprise.
Rose has never seen such a magnificent building, as Caspian walked she followed behind, her eyes still on it.
It was a dark grey with some red here and there, large with a flag that had a claw emblem on it.They were walking on a clean stone walkway to the door, Rose could feel the cold emanating from it.
Manicured grass was at each side of walkway, perfect with no flowers just greenery.
Up above, two gaurds stood at each end of the vast wooden door, a long spear in their hands. As they reached closer to the door, Rose noticed the guards behind them dispersing. The ones in front bowed as the opened the door, letting them walk in.
It was when they both stepped inside that Rose started having doubts of walking inside in the first place. She looked out of place in such a clean and spotless environment.
They were both standing in a hallway, with a large flight of stairs in front. The whole floor was made of marble and stone and there she was, muddy with an equally muddy dress, disheveled hair and dirty feet standing in the middle of all this.
"You there." She turned to see him beckon to a maid, who ran over and bowed.
"Yes, Alpha?"
"Take her to get a bath, a warm one so she doesn't freeze to death and a brush the tangles on her head."
She looked back at the maid who's judging gaze swept across Rose's features.
"Yes, Alpha." She bowed again, "Please, follow me."
Rose went along with the young looking maid who took her through a smaller hallway then down a flight of stairs before they reached a bathroom.
A fairly large room with a stone bath in the middle, she watched the maid turn on a tap and soon the bath was filled with warm water, steam enveloping the room. The maid poured a little basket filled with purple lavender petals in it and handed Rose a sponge cloth.
"I will be back with a change of cloth and a hairbrush."
Rose bowed in gratitude, "Thank you for your help."
The maid smiled a little before handing Rose another cloth, a towel to clean herself with when she was done and a tiny bottle of oil for her skin.
Immediately the door closed, Rose slipped out of her dress and stepped into the bath. The warmth from the water was very nice on her skin and she could feel her muscles loosening up. The injuries she sustained from running stung her but she hissed through the pain as she proceeded to wash herself, making sure to clean properly. She washed her hair too and her feet, pulling branches out from the former and making sure to get all the dirt and mud out. When she was done, she drained the water, rinsed herself and stepped out.
She dried herself with the towel and applied the oil to her face, hands and legs.
As soon as she was done, the maid walked in again with fresh change of clothes; it was a plain and slightly faded apple green dress and shoes. She thanked the maid and slipped into the dress as the maid looked in the other direction, picking up the towel and oil bottle.
When she was done, she collected a brush and looking at her reflection in the broken piece of mirror on the wall, she brushed her hair, managing to get all the knots out and then plait it in one big braid that went down her back.
"You look better," the maid said. "My name is Ina."
Rose smiled, she did not expect the sudden introduction, "I'm Rose."
"Are you a new maid?"
Rose wasn't sure how to answer that question, because of the confusing circumstances leading to her being here so she just nodded in the affirmative.
"I see," Ina responded, "Well, follow me."
They walked to a dark hallway and Ina made Rose sit on an old chair there, she later realized it was the hallway behind the kitchen.
"Stay here, I'll get you something to eat." Ina said, leaving. In a few seconds, she was back with a small plate that had a little porridge inside and a cup of water. "Finish this fast and then I'll take you upstairs to meet the Alpha."
"Thank you, Ina." Rose said gratefully as she began to eat hungrily, in no time she was done with everything. She stood up, about to enter the kitchen to drop her plate when Ina suddenly appeared in front of her, collecting it and passing it on to another girl.
"Let's go, the Alpha hates to be kept waiting."
As they walked up the stairs, Rose kept thinking of the man who saved her. Was he really the Alpha? And if he was, what was his real name?
Soon, they came to stand in front of a tall dark door and Ina stepped back, motioning for Rose to knock as she scurried away, as if scared to stand there any longer.
Rose walked closer to the door but as she raised her hand to knock, she saw it was already open so she stuck her head in, the whole room seemed dark to her.
"H..hello?"
"Come in, Rose." A cold and teasing voice said, startling her.
