Chapter 1: Rejected and Sold
Maya’s POV
The storm raged violently outside the grand hall, but inside, the air was dead silent. I stood shivering, drenched from the freezing rain, staring up at the terrifying werewolf king who held my entire life in his hands.
"I, Alpha Kieran Blackwood, hereby reject you, Maya Lin, as my fated mate," Kieran thundered, his voice vibrating through the stone floor with absolute Alpha dominance.
An agonizing crack shattered my chest as the sacred bond broke, and I dropped to my knees, clutching my heart. "Please, Kieran! Don't do this! The Moon Goddess chose us!"
"The Moon Goddess made a mistake," Kieran sneered, his amber eyes glowing pitch black as his canine teeth elongated. "Look at you. A weak, pathetic, useless stray with no bloodline, no fortune, and no power!"
"I love you!" I sobbed, reaching out to touch his expensive, custom silk suit.
Kieran slapped my hand away so hard the crack echoed off the tall pillars. "Touch me again and I’ll rip your arm off! You are nothing to me. Guards, throw this trash out into the storm!"
"No! Kieran, please!" I screamed as two massive, muscular Enforcers grabbed my wrists, dragging my frail body across the cold marble floor.
"Get out, stray!" the pack members mocked, laughing and throwing their drink glasses as the guards hauled me out the front gates and hurled me into the muddy, torrential rain.
I stumbled through the dark, shivering violently, until I finally reached my stepfamily's house on the pack border. I pushed the front door open, gasping for air.
"Look who’s back!" my stepsister Victoria snickered, crossing her arms and tossing her blonde hair. "Where is your grand crown, Maya? Didn't the billionaire Alpha want a pathetic, weakling stray for a wife?"
"He rejected me..." I whispered, collapsing against the wooden wall, shaking with fever and heartbreak.
My stepmother Brenda stepped forward and shoved my shoulder hard, forcing me onto the floor. "You useless fool! We thought you would bring us millions from the Blackwood fortune! Get into the kitchen and clean up our mess! No food for you tonight!"
They kicked my wet body as I crawled toward the kitchen, laughing while I wept in the dark on the cold tile floor.
---
Five years passed, and my nightmare only grew worse. My father fled into the night after stealing gold from rogues, leaving behind a mountain of catastrophic debt.
Before I could even wrap my head around his betrayal, the front door was kicked off its hinges. Cold iron chains were slapped tightly onto my wrists.
"Your father ran, so you are paying his debt," Brenda hissed, grabbing my silver-blonde hair and yanked my head back. "We're selling you at the slave auction tonight!"
"No! Please! Let me go!" I screamed, thrashing against the chains, but my weak human-blooded strength was no match for them.
They dragged me to a dark, illegal auction house on the edge of the territory and shoved me onto a raised wooden stage under blinding spotlights.
"A pure silver-blonde female!" the auctioneer roared into the microphone, pointing at my bruised, ragged form. "Starting bid: fifty thousand gold tokens!"
"One hundred thousand!" a fat wolf in the front row yelled.
"Five hundred thousand!" another barked, flashing his long fangs at me.
"Ten million," a deep, velvet voice echoed from the VIP balcony.
The entire room went dead silent. A tall, towering figure with long, raven-black hair falling past his broad shoulders stepped down into the light. My heart stopped in my chest. It was Kieran, looking ten times richer, stronger, and more terrifying than he had five years ago.
"Sold to Alpha Blackwood!" the auctioneer stammered, bowing low.
Kieran glided onto the stage like a predator, grabbing the back of my neck with a massive, warm hand. "Did you miss me, little stray?"
"Kieran... please..." I whimpered, staring into his glowing amber eyes.
"Shut up," he snapped, jerking the iron chain so hard I slammed against his broad, muscular chest. "Your father owed my pack billions. You're not a person anymore, Maya. You are my slave."
He dragged me out to his black bulletproof SUV and drove straight to his massive, castle-like estate, hauling me down the narrow stone steps into the dark, damp basement.
"This is where you belong," Kieran said coldly, throwing me onto the hard stone floor. "You will scrub the floors, wash the boots, and eat scraps from the guards' plates. You are the lowest slave in this house."
"Why are you doing this?" I wept, clutching my bruised wrists. "You rejected me five years ago! Why bring me back just to torment me?"
Kieran leaned down, his amber eyes flashing with dark, possessive wolf fury. "Because I own you, body and soul. And I will never let you go."
He turned on his heel, slamming the heavy iron door shut and locking it from the outside.
I curled into a tight ball on the freezing floor, sobbing in the total darkness.
I thought about my mother at that moment. If she was alive all these won’t have happened. When my sweet mother was alive my father was good to me. But when she died he had become cruel snd taken in an even more wicked wife who tormented me and ultimately sold me.
But I didnt have time to wallow in my sorrow because; She arrived.
The heavy lock clicked open again, and two shadows stepped inside the cell.
An older woman dressed in regal velvet stared down at me with pure, unadulterated hatred, while a handsome young man with messy brown hair stood beside her with a sharp, mocking grin.
"So this is the pathetic stray my son spent millions on," the woman hissed, raising a heavy silver-tipped riding crop in her hand.
The young man took a slow, predatory step toward me, his dark grey eyes scanning my trembling form. "Careful, Mother. Kieran might be playing with his new toy now, but I think I'd like to take her for myself."
