I looked at my mate, her words sinking into me.
If Ric is still alive, it probably means he's coming all out for war.
Is this the reason for the beating in my heart?
It wasn't just restlessness—it was something bigger.
I stared at my mate; her brows trembled, her lips quivering.
Am I supposed to stay and watch her get this scared?
To think she's pregnant!
"I wanna tell you something,"
I said, the memory of her earlier emotions replaying in my head.
I wouldn't want that to happen again, and I sure don't want her getting all worked up.
I pulled her to myself.
"Mine."
She looked up with a slight smile.
"I'll protect you and our little one... with my life."
Her ears perked, her heartbeat raised as she looked up at me.
