Love Story Begins
A cold night, there is no one in the house of faith for six days. Ziphora McKinley, the cross of a Pomeranian and a Chihuahua dog, is left all alone and hungry. Stevenson Hawkins, another one of her kind, who is a German Spitz stray dog does not get to eat most of the days, but was very kind and emotional. That night, he got a sandwich to eat from a dustbin. He was passing by the house of faith when he heard Ziphora’s howling and he felt very sad as he knew how it felt to be hungry. He went inside through a broken wall. It was a big house, so he had some hard time figuring out where the sound was coming from. At last he found Ziphora. Ziphora asked angrily, “Who are you? What are you doing in my house?” Stevenson said,“I am Stevenson. I heard you howling and I knew it was because of hunger. What happened? Why didn’t the people who are staying in this house give you anything to eat?” Ziphora replied, “They are on a pilgrimage for the last six days. So I didn’t get anything to eat for five days, as they gave me extra food for one day and I can’t move because they have locked me.” Stevenson said, “That is so cruel. Here, have a share of my food.” She said, “No, I can’t take that from you. How will I ever pay you back?” “Don’t worry about me because I don’t get to eat most of the days. Please have it.” He said. Ziphora chomped the share of her sandwich. Stevenson was looking at her the whole time. There was something he liked about her. The way she cleaned herself after eating, her eyes, her angry look when she saw him. He never felt like this before about anyone. She finished cleaning herself and said “Thanks, no one has ever cared for me like this.” Stevenson said “You are welcome”. As he turned to leave, a thought came to his mind and asked “What is your name?” She said “Ziphora. You can call me Ziph, and don’t forget to visit me sometime.” “Yes, of course.” he replied. He returned to a tree stump where he slept. He kept thinking about Ziphora. After a few minutes he said to himself “What is so special about her that I cannot sleep? What is happening to me?” At last he slept and he had a horrifying dream. ‘“It was night. He and Ziphora were together. There was pin drop silence. The sky was as dark as the Vantablack. Suddenly there was brightness and he saw a man with a spear and he attacked him.”’ Ziphora cried, ‘“S-T-E-V-E-N-S-O-N!!!!’” The dream ended and he woke up thinking what the dream could mean. Night came and Stevenson made up his mind to go to faith, see Ziphora and talk about a few things. He took the broken wall entry. This time Ziphora was not locked up. When she saw him she ran up to him and said “So you kept your word, you came to see me, my friend.” She said in another tone. “Yes I did and I didn’t know that we were friends.” He said innocently. “Of course we are.” She said to his surprise. “Then what do you say for a kind dog to be helping another hungry dog? An uncle? Well, I think the right word is friend.” He laughed and said, “Look Ziph, I wanted to say something to you. It has been bothering me for a day. If I don’t tell it today, I may not be able to say it again.” “Before you say anything I want to say something to you first.” Ziphora said. He asked curiously, “What?” “That I am drunk.” “What? Why did you drink?” “Because I found a bottle of beer but it is okay you can say whatever you want because my memory is very sharp that no amount of beer can control it.” Stevenson said, “Ziph, I love you and I want to live with you forever. Will you marry me?” She smiled and said in her boozy voice, “I thought it was just me who felt this way about you.” “What do you mean? I don’t understand.” he said. “In other words I love you too and I want to live with you forever as well.” she said. “So, will you marry me?” Stevenson said in an exciting voice, “Yes, of course.” “Okay, did you eat something?” Then he realized that he didn’t eat anything and did not feel hungry even for a second, otherwise his stomach would be grumbling now. He said “No.” “Then come with me. I’ve saved up some of my food for you.” She said. They went near a kennel and Stevenson saw half a plate of scrumptious dog food. Ziphora said, “All of this is for you. Come on, eat.” He gobbled down the food. It wasn’t just good, it was marvellous. He had never ate such delicious food before. After he finished, he looked at Ziphora who was laughing seeing his hunger. “What?” he asked. “Were you that hungry?” she asked. “Yes and thanks for everything.” “It’s alright. Now go before anyone sees you” “Right.” he said. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” “How will you?” she asked in confusion. “Through the broken wall.” He said. “Oh, so that’s your secret way.” She said in amusement. “Yes.” “Okay. GO. Ruth is coming, go.” “Okay, good night.” And off he went.
