Not Quite A Mistake

Chapter 8-Georgia

I had nearly forgotten I was still in the hospital before I was woken up by one of the nurses.It was morning but the sun wasn't out yet.I didn't mind since I didn't really get a lot of sleep.

The gave me some awful hospital food and did regular checkups on me.They soon left me to myself in the rather bland room.I had no source of entertainment.They only had TVs in the waiting room so that wasn't an option.

Jared was at work right now so I wouldn't be having visitors for the meantime.Oh well.

I was bored out of my mind.There was a magazine on the table to my left and I sighed as I reached for it.I read through some random articles but I couldn't bring myself to be interested.Sure,I loved reading but I would prefer my novels I had at home over this in a heartbeat.

People always found me a bit basic and boring because anytime someone would come across me I had my nose buried in a book.Therefore,people would keep their distance from me since I didn't go anywhere and wasn't popular.Come to think of it,what I did last weekend was probably considered the riskiest thing I have done.My cheeks turned bright red at the thought.

I flipped the page and skimmed through the words.There was a knock on the door and I looked up from the book.

"Come in,"I sat the book down on the desk as the door opened.A nurse walked through the door.

"Miss Young,you have visitors,"I furrowed my brows.Jared was still supposed to be at work and Frederico was also still working.

"Um,sure send them in,"she nodded and turned back around.I sat up straighter as I fixed my hair a bit.A few seconds later the nurse returned and the door opened slowly.

I looked passed the nurse and my eyes locked on intense icy blues.My own widened as the words flew out of my mouth before I could stop them.

"You?!"

"You!?"

My mouth fell open as the words rolled off my tongue.There she sat,in the single hospital bed.Her hair was in a bun on the top of her head with loose tendrils framing her face.Mouth still agape,I felt Lilly's hand slip from mine.I looked down and watched as she walked forward slowly before sprinting over to the woman who was apparently Georgia.

My eyes widened a little as Lilly threw her head on Georgia's lap and started sobbing.

"Lil-"I started but was interrupted.

"Shh, it's okay.It's not your fault,"I heard her whisper in Lilly's ear and patted her head.She lifted her up and sat her on the bed.Lilly crawled into her lap again and clutched onto her as if her life depended on it.Lilly has never acted like this towards anyone,I was not an exception and I felt a little hurt that she wasn't with me,her father the way she was with Georgia now.How hypocritical of me.

"Miss Georgia,please don't overdo it.Your injuries aren't serious but your ribs are busy healing,"I forgot about the nurse and almost yelped in surprise when she spoke from next to me.

"Yes.Uh,you can leave us alone now.Thank you,"the nurse nodded and headed out the door.I looked back up to see Georgia staring at me with flushed cheeks.I fought back a smirk and sighed.She was probably thinking about what happened last weekend.

"Well,this is unfortunate.I would've never guessed you would be the one to save my daughter.But it can't be helped.How much do you want?"I pulled out my wallet ftom my suit jacket.

"I don't want your money,"she said as she stared down at Lilly.I was itching to remove Lilly from her but I could see Lilly was attached to her and would make up a fuss.

"What do you want then?A car?Mansion?Oh wait,want to marry m-"she glared at me and covered Lilly's ears before looking up.

"You need to climb off your high pedestrial and realize that everything can't be solved with money.Not only did you insult me,you were anything but sincere and not so much as a thank you have I received from you.I don't know you and despite what we did last weekend that still doesn't give you the right to disrespect me in such a way.You have a daughter for God's sake,"I looked at her,shocked.She looked down at her lap and panted with her face flushed.Anyone could have guessed she wasn't very good with confrontation.

"I apologize for my abrupt behaviour.But I have to insist that I pay for your hospital fee's.It would be a thanks to you for saving my daughter,"I narrowed my eyes at her and she sighed.Lilly lifted her head up and whispered something in Georgia's ear.

Georgia looked over at me and then whispered back to Lilly.They both looked over at me and Georgia nodded at her.

"F-father if it wouldn't be a problem,may I stay with miss Georgia for a while?"my face hardened and I clenched my teeth.

"Absolutely not.What did she put you up to?!"I raised my voice and Georgia looked at me disapproving.I glared at her and she scowled at me in return.

"I don't see a problem with her staying for a bit.It's not like I'll have visitors as of today,"she whispered and Lilly looked up hopefully.

"How can I trust you with Lilly?"She gave me a deadpan look and opened her mouth to say something but shook her head.

"For someone so blunt and upright you sure are dense,"she chuckled and I felt my heart beat a little faster.Those green eyes sparkled with mischief and I had to avert my eyes.

"Lilly,you can stay till three.I'll be at the office.Don't take her anywhere outside this building,"I said dejectedly and saw Lilly smile.I didn't know what came over me for entrusting her with Lilly but seeing that look on Lilly's face...

"It's not like I'm able to move around without damaging my ribs,so will do,"she made a salute and I scoffed and walked to the door.

"Mister rude-blue-eyed guy?What's your name and how will I be able to contact you?"she asked and I scowled.

"Why?Do you want to do a background check on me to see how much money I h-"she chetised and gestured over to Lilly.

"You really are full of yourself,huh?For Lilly, of course,"she rolled her eyes and I mentally face-palmed myself out of embarrassment.

"...sure,"I dug in my suit jacket and pulled out my personal card for my phone number.I handed it over to her and my finger touched hers by accident.She retracted her hand as quick as lightning and I cleared my throat.

"Javier..."her soft and sweet voice reached my ears and for a second I forgot how to breathe.

"Call me if anything happens,"

"Goodbye Lilly,"I said and she waved back.I walked out the door and took the elevator to the lobby.The metal doors opened and I walked out and to the receptionist.

"Hello,I would like to make a payment,"
