Chapter 3

(Ethan) I still cannot believe that Suriel got her wolf, and she has been hiding her all this time. I can’t wait to see her wolf. I met Suriel when I was eight. The Luna and Claudia, Suriel’s mom, were having a picnic with my mom and a few other female pack members to welcome my mom as their Gamma. That evening we were attacked by vampires. Ever since the Luna was killed by vampires, everyone in the pack has blamed Suriel. She never knew why but we did. Everyone thought that Suriel had called upon the vampires. They always called her a freak because of her unusual eyes. Her eyes are purple, but not just any purple. It's almost like a neon purple. They look as if they were always glowing. But we, my family and I, knew Suriel had nothing to do with it. My parents were spending their free time trying to clear her name and finding the real killers. Every clue they got brought them to a man with red eyes. Who is this man? I have no idea, but I have a feeling that sooner or later we will all find out. “Are you ready?” mom asked Suriel with a huge smile. Suriel looked at me and I couldn’t help but smile when she nodded. I knew that she always felt safe around me and my parents. “No one is here but us, so you don’t have to hide your scent or anything” dad assured her. Suddenly it hit me, as my parents gasped. Her aura was stronger than any Alpha I had come in contact with. I felt like bowing down to her and I was about to when Suriel moved quickly behind one of the trees. I heard the sound of bones cracking and a few whimpers. Alister wanted to take over my body and go to her to help her and her wolf, but I held him back. “Don’t fight it baby girl, let it happen” I said soothingly. A non-threatening growl rumbled my chest. I knew Alister was doing it to let Sky know that we were here for her. Not long after, a black wolf steps out from behind the large tree. Suriel’s wolf is breathtakingly beautiful. She’s black and on her back, she has a few white marks as if they were stars, and she is huge. Her wolf was just a tiny bit smaller than mine. Her name goes well with her fur, but what took my breath away was the mark of a diamond on her forehead. The mark of a diamond... I had seen this mark before. I just don’t know where. I looked at my parents to see their eyes wide as if they knew something I didn’t know. ‘Mom, what’s going on?’ I mind linked her. She snapped out of it and looked at me with a huge smile. “She’s beautiful” mom said out loud as dad nodded his head in agreement. Suriel’s wolf, Sky, whined before walking towards me and licked my hand, making me chuckle before going to my mom and dad and nudging them. “I think she wants to go for her run now” I said out loud. Sky nodded her head, wagging her tail. I couldn’t hold back my laugh. I quickly undressed and shifted to my silver wolf. Alister walked towards Sky, nudging her gently on her neck. Sky rubbed her head on the side of mine before mom and dad joined us. ‘We stay close and whatever you do, don’t leave Suriel alone. Remember this is not our territory’, dad said. ‘Understood’ I replied. I felt a nip on my tail making Alister yelp lightly. I heard my parents chuckle in our link. Next thing I know, Suriel/ Sky is taking off. She’s fast, but I was faster. We ran around for a few hours before we stopped at a creek. Sky lapped at the water then stopped to look at herself in it, tilting her head to the side. With her right paw she touched the water where her diamond mark was. I couldn’t help but admire her. Suriel wasn’t just a beautiful woman. She also has a big heart and a beautiful soul. When I was younger, I had a massive crush on Suriel and always prayed to the moon goddess that Suriel was my mate, but the day I got my wolf I was heartbroken to know she wasn’t my mate. The funny thing is that it wasn’t just me. After I got my wolf, he became very protective of Suriel to the point that I had to talk to dad. We still don’t know why he felt that way and still do even though we had already found our mate. I was snapped out of my thoughts by Suriel/ Sky rolling around in the creek. It was a hot day so I could understand why she was doing that. I chuckled when she flopped down on the water looking at me. Her purple eyes seemed to glow with happiness. Suddenly, she pounced on me/ Alister, getting us all wet. Alister gently nipped at her ear before rolling to our backs. We rolled around for a few minutes until I got a link from my parents that it was time for lunch. ‘Let's head back so we can have lunch’. I linked Suriel. At the mention of food, her stomach growled. We started to head back to the cabin we got for the day. Suriel/ Sky seems so happy in her wolf form. I've always hated how they treat her at the Pack. They never took the time to get to know her, but instead blamed her for what happened. The Alpha gave her the title of slave, which is even lower than Omega. The way they beat her and leave her without food, it makes me sick. She deserves so much better than that. I just hope that her mate can get her out of there and treat her the way she deserves. *** After lunch, we watched a movie, then, Suriel helped my mom make dinner and danced some salsa and merengue while cooking. Suriel looked so carefree, and I loved hearing her laugh. We were now in the living room watching another movie, but this time it was just Suriel and me. My parents had gone to the pack house and talked to Daisy’s father. We were watching Assassin’s Creed. Then I remembered I had something in my bag that I remembered she would like. “I’ll be right back” I said, jumping up and running to my room. I grabbed my bag and looked for the contents and went back to the room, hiding what I got behind my back. “I got something for you”, I smiled, handing the contents to her. Suriel gasp before squealing. “You got Ferrero Rocher! Thank you”, she hugged me before leaning back and opening the container. She offered me some before grabbing one and placing the rest on the table. It was quiet for a few minutes as she savored the delicious chocolate. “Do you think that my mate will accept me? If I ever meet him?” Suriel asked out of nowhere. I grabbed her hand in mine, rubbing small circles on her palm. “He would be a fool not to accept you”, I replied without thinking. “You’ll meet your mate sooner or later and I know that your mate will get you out of that hell hole, Suriel. You deserve to be happy” I admitted. “I’m just a slave. I have nothing to offer my mate” she said, looking at the TV, but I could see tears in her eyes. I cupped her chin so she could look at me. When she does, the unshed tears fall. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a slave, an Omega, or a ranked wolf. Your mate would love you for who you are and for what’s in here” I said, pointing to the place right above her heart. “You are an incredibly special young woman, Suriel, and any person that gets to know you at least for five minutes will see how special you are. I know I see it. I have seen it since the first day I met you and I thank the moon goddess every day for putting you in my path”, I told her. She closed her eyes as more tears fell. She went to wipe them, but I stopped her. I gently wiped her tears away before kissing her eyes. When I pulled back, my breath hitched at how she was looking at me. I couldn’t stop myself and I kissed her. I kissed her with everything I felt, and I felt her respond to my kiss the same way, but I knew that after this kiss… I couldn’t kiss her again. We pulled apart panting. I kissed her forehead and continued to watch the movie. I couldn’t stop thinking about what she said. What if her mate doesn’t accept her because she’s a slave? He really would be a fool, but if he doesn’t accept her then I will talk to my mate and bring her to our pack. I looked at Suriel only to see she had fallen asleep. I gently picked her up and took her to my bed. I laid her down and covered her up. I then went to the sofa and laid down. ***
