CHAPTER 16 Despite still warm days, summer slowly relinquished its reign. Autumn was closing in. The signs were clear. The leaves on trees didn’t seem as vibrantly green, and late nights were cooler, just shy of crisp. It was invigorating, though, and made walking mile after mile more tolerable in comparison.
