Cinderella...Ish

Okay, it's still pretty cold outside. Looking around, I grabbed the Carhartt hoodie and threw that on.

"Well, it is mine now so..." I said talking to myself.

Putting on one of my Carhartt beanies, I hopped in my truck and drove to pick up Kate.

"Are you really wearing John's hoodie? I thought you gave that back" She laughed

"No, this is my hoodie now" I replied

"Does he know this?" Kate said

"Yup. He said he has another one in a different color so it's mine" I smiled

She just shook her head and we made it to the outlets. We are looking for outfits to wear to this lovely dinner thing. Also i'm still sad and she wants me to feel better. Shopping doesn't help but hanging out with this psycho does. We walked in and out of a couple stores, and couldn't really find anything. I have tried on so many outfits today, i'm very over it. And Kate knows. So now it's pretzel break time.

"I love these pretzel wrapped hot dog bites" Kate said

"Me too. They are the bomb" I replied

"The slushie is great too. Now the alcoholic one. Oh man, that's amazing." Kate laughed

I nodded and we finished our lunch. Not a lot but hey, not much here. And the food court is packed.

"Okay, I want to try one more store. We passed it on the way in, so it's on our way out" Kate smiled

"Fine" I sighed

She jumped up and we started to make our way towards the exit. Going into the store, they were having some sales and also had some nice clothes.

"Oh, I kinda like this army green jump suit" I said

"Well grab your size and try it on" Kate said

"Sure why not" I shrugged

Fishing through, I found my size and walked over to the dressing rooms. Going into an open one, I stripped and pulled on the jump suite... yeah no. Changing back into my clothes, I hung that up on the dressing room rack and walked back out.

"Didn't like it?" Kate said

"Nada" I replied

"Well lets look around a bit. That was the first thing you saw" She laughed

I nodded and we continued through the store. I grabbed a couple things I liked and soon we both had a pile of clothes.

"Hm, do you want to share the big dressing room stall thing?" Kate asked

"Yeah why not" I laughed

We both went into the giant stall and put our stuff down.

"Look now I can see your outfits with out having to go in and out of the dressing room and have people try and walk in" Kate said

"Oh yeah, that one lady man, we were about to throw hands." I said

"I know" She replied shaking her head

A lot of yelling went on and she got kicked out of the store. HA! We both pulled on our first outfit and mine was blah. Kate didn't like her's much either. After going through a couple things I found a pair of pants I really liked. They are army or olive green, what ever you want to call it. They're also high waisted and have the elastic at the bottom. It' comes down to my ankle bone so it doesn't look like i'm wearing floods. I went through a few shirts and decided on a long sleeve sweater like body suit. The material felt like a sweater, but not as thick, and doesn't have the look of a sweater. It's just soft, okay.

"Ohhh girl I love that" Kate said

"Me too" I smiled

"Do you still have those black ankle boots." She asked

"Yeah" I replied

"Wear those" My friend smiled

I nodded my head and got changed back into my regular clothes. Kate had found something like halfway through her pile she really liked. So she's just been judging what I picked. We made it through the check out line and got back in my truck. Throwing the bags in the back seat, Kate was all giddy.

"Yay, you are going to look hot. Are you going to ask anyone to go with you?" Kate said

"I don't think so. I think Colin is bringing a friend he made though" I said

"Hmm, you might smack me for this. But since he's probably going already. Why don't you ask John?" She said

"Why?" I asked

"You two get along better then you did. And he gave you his hoodie c'mon" Kate smirked

"And he lent me his truck and fixed mine. But still. He probably is going with someone already" I said

"Ask" Kate laughed

"No" I replied

"Fine. I will" Kate smirked

"No, no. I will" I said glaring at her.

Getting back to her house, I followed my friend inside and we sat in the living room. Her parents are out shopping right now apparently. So I went into messages and sent one to John.

Me: Hey, are you going with anyone to the dinner thing?

"There are you happy" I said

"Yup. Now for him to say no and you two to go together" Kate smiled

"What if he says he does" I laughed

"Well, I don't know. Just don't go with Ryan" She said

"Or Bobby" I replied

We both looked at each other and started laughing. Then I got a reply. To which Kate was glued back to my shoulder.

John: Nope. Aren't you going with Ryan though?

Me: Uhm. No. Did he not tell you that he hates me. Lol

"Do they just not talk to each other?" Kate sid

"They do. I see them talking all the time. But... I don't know" I replied rolling my eyes

"Wow, he replied fast" Kate said as Johns name popped up.

John: He doesn't hate you. He has been acting weird when you were around though, I don't now, he's weird sometimes

Me: Weirder than you?

John: I'm not weird. I'm cool

Me: Mhmm keep on telling yourself that bud lol

"See you two get along nicely. Unless he takes that the wrong way" Kate said

"Who knows. Guys are weird" I said

"Oh, show me the guys you met at the park. I want to stalk them" Kate laughed

"Why" I replied chuckling

"What if it's like your parents. And one of them is your future husband" She said

"They aren't. But here they are in a group shot. Then he tagged all of their instagrams" I said handing Kate my phone.

I may or may not have stalked these boys already. They are kinda cute. They're really nice too, I honestly thought they were going to be d***s. But I was mistaken.

"Oh John replied" Kate said handing me my phone back. "Those boys are cute though. And most of them are single."

John: So if you're not going with Ryan. Who are you going with

"Ohh. Say you. Say you. See what he says" Kate said

"No. I'm not doing that" I replied

"Do it or I will take your phone and pretend to be you" Kate said with a straight face.

"Fine" I sighed

Me: You ;)

"You know. I hate you sometimes" I said shaking my head

"You love me" She smiled

"Sadly" I sighed

She glared at me and I smiled back at my friend. I played around on my phone for a little bit and she kept asking if John replied. He didn't. He didn't read it either, but that's fine. John's probably going with his friends.

"How come he answered so fast before. And now he's taking forever" Kate groaned

"Maybe he's riding." I laughed

"Still. He probably goes on his phone while he's riding" She replied

"Maybe he read it on his lock screen and went. No. So he's not going to open it" I said

"Oh maybe he saw it and got butterflies and doesn't know how to respond" She laughed

"You think that boy gets butterflies" I laughed

"Tommy does" She said

"Well that's cause he loves you" I said

She just shrugged and shook her head. I do kinda want to know why he hasn't answered. But i'm not going to let it bug me.

"Are you staying for dinner?" She asked

"It's Sunday, my aunt likes to cook. So I should probably get home" I said

"Drive safe. Let me know when you get home and what John says. I need to know" Kate said

"Okay okay" I laughed

I hugged my friend and started to the house. Oh everybody is home and dinner is probably done. Whoops. I quickly grabbed my bags and jogged inside. Then I threw those in my room and went into the kitchen.

"Okay now we can eat" My aunt said

"Finally. I am starving" Colin said laughing at me

"Sorry. Lost track of time" I said

We all sat down for dinner and it's Sunday so it's pasta. It's an Italian thing I guess.

"So how was everybody's day" My uncle asked

"I made the gravy this morning, and cleaned the house" My aunt said

"Went for a trail ride with the guys." Colin said

"I went shopping with Kate. We got outfits for that dinner Friday night" I said

"Oh yeah. I asked my co worker Chrissy to go to that" Colin said

"She's the one that came over the other day right?" I asked

"Yeah" Colin replied

We all nodded and finished eating. I ate too much pasta, I think i'm going to explode.

"Well i'm going to go put my clothes away" I said

"Okay. We were going to do hot chocolate and a movie tonight. I'll let you know when it's ready" My aunt said

"Okay" I replied

Walking back to my room, I grabbed my phone off my bed and laughed at Kate. She asked about 6 times if John answered then went, oh you're eating dinner. He did answer though.

John: Hmm, sure why not lol

He also called me. I texted Kate back and said he answered. Should I call him back? I wonder why he called. Well not even call, it was a face time call. Eh f**k it why not. I tapped the missed face time and it started ringing. Propping it up against the mirror on my dresser, I grabbed the bag and he answered.

"Hello?" He said

"Hi" I replied walking back over to my dresser

"Did you mean to face time me?" He asked

"Well you called me. So I figured I call back" I said

"Oh, I wanted to see if you were kidding or not" He replied

"Eh yes and no." I shrugged

"What does that mean?" He asked

"Well, I was with Kate, and she said I should ask you if you were going with anyone. Then told me to say you when you asked if I was going with anyone" I said

"Oh so you were kidding" John said

"I mean, if you want to go with me, i'm fine with that. But you are probably going with your friends" I said

"I was. They all have someone to go with though, even Ryan. I thought he was going with you, cause you guys went out again right" John said

"We did, but it didn't end to well" I said

"What happened? He didn't say anything about it." He replied

"Hold on, let me put this in my closet real fast" I said

He nodded and I got my clothes away. Then I grabbed my phone and sat on my bed.

"Okay, what were we talking about?" I asked

"What happened when you and Ryan went out" John said

"Oh yeah. He was acting weird the whole time. And like, he asked me questions about myself but wasn't playing attention or didn't care I guess. When we were at the barn and he asked if my truck was stick... I told him. Then he kissed me and it was just... weird" I said

"Oh. He's normally a ladies man" John laughed

"Whelp, I don't know what your definition of a ladies man is, but that definitely wasn't it." I replied

He nodded and neither of us said anything for a solid minute.

"So, what are you up to tonight" I asked

"Just ate dinner, now i'm just chilling in my room. I was playing video games but you called so I stopped" He said

"Aww you stopped playing for me? How sweet" I laughed

He smiled and shook his head then asked what I was up to.

"I also just ate dinner, then once my aunt cleans the kitchen and everything we are going to watch a movie and drink hot chocolate" I smiled

"That sounds like fun. I think Colin is suppose to have a party at your house next Saturday.. or would it be considered this Saturday. The day after the dinner" John said

"Yeah. His parents are going away for the weekend and they said he can have a couple people over to celebrate the end of the season" I said

"Is he bringing someone to the dinner?" He asked

"Yeah, his co worker. She's really nice" I said

"Ah, so you couldn't bring him like you did to the masquerade thing" John laughed

"Yeah. And hey, he left me as soon as we got there. Well he asked first then I ran into you. And you know what. You lied to me" I said

"How did I lie to you there?" John asked

"When you asked me to dance the first time. You said we would get food after. You got called away by your friends and I had to go find mine" I said

"But you got food" John laughed

"Okay, but I was hungry before, and you interrupted that" I replied

"Did you not enjoy dancing with me?" He asked

"Eh" I replied shrugging

"Wow. Thanks Ella" He replied

I just smiled and shook my head.

"You know. I wish I could of taken a picture with you that night. You looked, amazing" John said

"Aw thanks." I smiled

"So, are we going together Friday?" John asked

"If you want. Would you want to sit with us at our table? Or sit with your buddies?" I asked

"Well, I don't think there's enough room for me at their table.. So I guess i'll sit with you guys" He said

"I have a question?" I said

"Yeah?" John replied

"If we go together.. Is that going to make Ryan act even weirder, cause he kept like, staring at us on Saturday" I said

"Who knows. He's been acting weird since you came around honestly. I think he's into you, but obviously that didn't work out" John laughed

"Well, I don't want you two to be like... weird." I said

"What? Fight over you?" John asked

"Maybe? But then again, who would fight over me. Look at me" I said

"You do know people want to get with you right. And what do you mean look at you" John laughed

"I'm a potato" I laughed

He shook his head and my aunt peeked her head in.

"The hot chocolate is ready. You coming?" She said

"I'll be right down" I smiled

She smiled back and shut the door.

"Guess you gotta go" John said

"Yeah. But, it was fun talking to you" I smiled

"We should do this more often" He said

"Hey, don't get carried away now. I never facetime people. Only Kate. And that's rare" I said

"Aw, I feel special" John said

"Yeah yeah. So... I'll see you Friday?" I said

"Yeah. Do you want me to pick you up?" He asked

"Sure, if you want" I replied

"Okay, I'll see you then, enjoy your movie and hot chocolate" John said

"Enjoy your video games" I replied

We both said bye and hung up, then I walked out to the living room and sat next to my cousin. I also messaged Kate who spammed my phone.

Me: Well, John and I are going to the dinner together, you don't care if he sits with us right?

Kate: Yay! And no that's fine :)

I replied back to her and Colin was looking over my shoulder.

"So, you and John are going together?" Colin said

"Ohh, who's John" My aunt asked

"He boards at the barn and does roping and steer wrestling" I said

"Ooh, is he cute" My aunt smiled

"Yeah, I guess so"I laughed

"Ohhh, I'm gonna tell him you said he's cute" Colin said

"Colin, i'll murder you" I replied

"You better listen to her son" My uncle said

We all laughed and I sipped on my hot chocolate. This is really good.
