Chapter 9Albus woke to an empty bed and for a moment he wondered if he’d dreamed everything about Zale sleeping in his arms and not shying away from his touch, but there was the hum of his flame in his chest. He was mated. He had a mate. He, Albus the Abomination, had a mate. “Albus the Avaricious!” Zale swept into the bedroom, rosy-cheeked and tousled-haired. “Where have you hidden the coffee? It’s not kind not to share, you know.” Albus blinked at him. What the hell did avaricious mean? “I don’t have any coffee.” Zale gasped and dramatically placed a hand over his heart. “You’re joking, right? I can’t live without coffee.” He hadn’t had a drop the whole time he’d been with Albus, and if anything, his health had improved. “Oh, and there’s a woman by the back door. Do I let her in?”
