I did not know how much time had passed but eventually got a grip on myself. “This is not the time to wallow in sadness Sophia.” I said to myself and clean up my tears, I picked up my phone and dial the number Pauline had sent, the receiver pick up rather too quickly, “Good morning, this is CEO Eden’s secretary, who am I speaking to?” The receiver said politely awaiting my responds “Good morning to you too, I am Miss Sophia and I would like to make an appointment with the CEO.” I replied, trying not to sound nervous because I am obviously nervous and scared at the moment. “Uh, Miss Sophia, you want to see the CEO?” “Yes, has to do with the Company’s situation?” I replied and this time, I sounded so confident that even I was taken aback for a moment. “Okay Miss Sophia, let me check his schedule, you should receive a message once your appointment has been fixed. Thank you for contacting us.” The secretary said and then ends the call. I stood up from the cushion sluggishly, dragging my tired body to my bedroom, I look around the small space and I feel so isolated and secluded. Since I was banned from the pack Pauline had took me in as a sister, she has been my friend and my confidant but I still have to find my own space, live my life. I felt the need to face my problem with my head up; I can’t keep staying under her wing for protection. My eye turn dizzy and I fell into a deep slumber. I woke up late at night and everywhere was dark, my stomach was rumbling in hunger but first, I picked up my phone and could see my call log filled with missed calls from Pauline and a message from Eden’s secretary. [Tuesday, 03/11/2025 at 2:00 p.m. prompts] Reading the message, I grin at myself in satisfaction, there is no turning back now. [Thank you] I replied and drop my phone on the bed as I made my way to the kitchen my stomach needs to be feed. The next day… I stood in the front of Arc brand’s headquarter with a serene face. Eden’s office was there and I could remember the last time I was here, just to have a few words with him but he had rightfully declined my visitation, he instructed the security not to let me in, I crouch down and wail on the ground but everyone had ignored me. To them, I was simply an obnoxious woman weeping profusely in the front of the arch brand. Now however, the difference is that I wasn’t the woman I was ten years ago, I walk into the building elegantly taking my step neither too slow nor fast and soon, I was in a large reception room where a young lady spoke up. “Good day ma’am, welcome to the Arc brand headquarters. How may I be of help?” “Good day, I have an appointment with Eden Arc.” I replied with a smile and the receptionist eyes widened slightly, “you might want to call his secretary and confirm.” I added. “Your name please?” The receptionist asked. “Sophia.” I replied simply and the receptionist nodded before typing on a device in front of her and then looking to the side where some sofas were placed, “please go have a seat Miss Sophia, a message has been sent to the secretary.” The receptionist spoke and Sophia frowned slightly. Why couldn’t the receptionist just place a call and save her time? She wondered but decided to comply anyways. Some seconds later, the receptionist spoke, “uh, the secretary says the CEO is not around Miss Sophia, your appointment will be rescheduled.” “What!” I exclaimed, quite upset at the sudden development. “Calm down Sophia.” I muttered pacing back and forth in the reception room while trying to contact Pauline – after all, she had also assured Eden would be around today. Noticing I was becoming a nuisance and attracting strange gazes from all around, I walked to the entrance and stiffened. Approaching, I saw Pauline holding a nine years old boy. “Karl.” She wanted to call but the words died in her throat. This was the sole reason she had been working all hard for ten year - her motivation and only gift bestowed to her by the moon goddess, Eden had taken many things from her and she was willing to forego everything but only one, she could not let him take her son from her. Pauline had noticed me and immediately began to take the child through another part, my leg instinctively moved; I wanted to follow them but could see Pauline throwing me a warning gaze. This isn’t the right time to meet him, I stared at their retreating figure as tears roll down my eye, “just give me some time son, I will fight for us, I will get you back to mummy, mummy will come get you” I muttered and made my way out of the company, wiping away the tears in my eye. Soon, a smiling façade was back on my face, this has been me since a long time ago. I have live in pretence all my life during those ten years, smiling at everyone I encounter but crying in the dark room wishing my life was far better, imagine how life would have been with my son and Eden, if only he could accept me. I went straight to the bar to get a some drink, I push in the bar door and I made my way to the bar attendant at the counter, I order for two bottles of sodas, and took a seat at an empty space beside the window, the breeze were blowing and the street was busy as pedestrian kept passing by and the car were also moving way too fast on such an hectic day. The bar attendant calls my attention after dropping the drinks on the table, I nod my head thanks and I pour the opened soda into a cup and gulped it at once repeated the same action until the drink was finished. I bang the table in annoyance as my emotions get the best of me, I could feel the stare of other customer, I recollect myself and pour in more drinks. But can I get drunk? No! I am a werewolf even if I couldn’t connect with my wolf, I could remember when everyone was 18 and the pack had gathered those who had reached 18 years of age together at the pack ground. Everyone was beaming with happiness, of cause who won’t be they are about to explore a new part of them which has been silent and hidden for 18 years, their half part which would save and strengthen them, eventually everyone started turning, cracking of bone could be had and wails of pain could be heard in the forest, but everyone was eager to meet their wolf no one care about the pain, the pack members roared in satisfaction after successfully turning.
