A LUNA’S CHOICE

Chapter 5 – SAVING THE BOY

I sat down beside her prepared for all she had to say, she gaze at me once more and starts to talk… “I saw you came yesterday, but Eden wasn’t around.” She said, but continues “… I am sorry; he had an urgent meeting to attend to.” She concluded with a solemn look on her face.

“It’s okay you don’t have to apologize, you are not at fault.” I said smiling at her. “… how is Karl.” I asked as my voice c***k and emotions paramount in my face.

“He his fine Sophia, and he do asks of his mum.” She reported rubbing her hands on my cheeks, “… he his very intelligent Sophia, he got his mother’s brain and he smiles a lot but he didn’t like Lara, he knew she wasn't his mother.” She said smiling, literately she had thought that would soften me and it did, I smiled.

Lara was the lady whom the pack sees as befitting as their Luna, the sister of the Pack’s beta, a werewolf strong enough to be their Luna and right now, that doesn’t faze me a bit, I only wanted her daughter.

“He is my child Pauline, I birth him, in pain and struggle and we bonded beautifully before I was exile, he even caresses my face, smile and giggle, he was so cute and small, I wish to hold him, and kiss his big cheek.” I said smiling as tears roll down my cheek, I miss his smile, scent and giggles, I want my son so much, more tears escape my eye and Pauline clean them with her palm.

“You will have your son back Sophia, I will make sure of that, you have work so hard to get him back, we won’t stop now, No. I will fight alongside with you, encourage you and be your solace.” Pauline said as she hug me tightly my cry becomes louder only if she had not tell me this I might have act a little stronger, but she had said such a soothing words that I just want to cry my pain out.

“You have done a lot, a whole lot Pauline, how would I repay you for all you kindness?” I said between my sob, I released her from the hug

“It is okay Sophia; your well-being is my priority.” she said grinning at me “… I know they haven’t sent you an appointment but Eden would be around tomorrow, his schedule is cleared and he would be available till noon but you have to arrive early.” She reported with a relaxed tone, she is back to her professional way of speaking.

I nod my head and said “I will be there Pauline, as early as possible, thank you for all your unweaving support and efforts made towards getting my son back.” I replied and smile spread across her face.

Her phone starts to ring, she pick up the phone “It is the Secretary calling.” She said and pick up the call.

“Good morning Miss Pauline, the CEO requests your presence in his office in an hour.” The secretary said in her professional tone, not like I have heard her friendly tone before.

“Okay, I will be there soon.” She said and ends the call “…. I have to go Sophia, be at the company early tomorrow.” She said and gave me a kiss in the cheek and ran out of the house

“Lock the door behind you.” I screamed at her as she exits the house, Pauline had been working at Arc brand as a chief sales officer, she joined nine years back just for us to execute our plan easier.

I smile as I recall how we met; she was just a girl who was working at a café and I would visit the café and sit there all day drinking only coffee that is all I could afford with dough. She would serve me and sit with me at time, as they do say in the pack, human are very emotional, they care a lot even feel guilty about what they have no idea of.

She would give me free snacks and accompany me daily, I found it easy to reveal all my secrets and struggles to her but she never reacted with fright, her eye only widen in amusement then she asked “creatures like that exist in real life, I only read them I story and I admire you so much.” She said as she rushes to hug me, I snug closer to her as tears roll down my cheeks.

She had accepted me although being a human, after all humans are known to be scared of creatures like wolves and vampire, why was she so different? She didn’t give me the judging look, like why are you here? She only hugs me closer and said she had read about people like me in book.

She invited me to live with her, I refuse, of cause if she had accepted with no remorse how sure she that her family would, she gave me the bittersweet smile and said “they died in a ghastly accident, so yeah! I am all alone in my apartment and nobody really cares.” She reveals with drooping shoulders.

It turned out Pauline was just as lonely as I am even though she had inherited great wealth from her family; she owns the café and only poses as a worker to get closer with people.

“I will like to stay with you.” I declare patting her shoulder, she raise her head and smile at me “just a moment.” She said and jogged back to her boss office, speak with him a little and walk back towards me.

She slides her hand into mine and we made our way out, “your son would be very beautiful.” she said breaking the thick silence among us.

“He his very beautiful, he had his father’s face and my eye.” I said dreamily as smile spread through my face

“It must have caused you so much pain to let your child go.” She said staring at me with so much pity, she had felt my agony and misery; I nod my head as tears pour from my eye.

“He is the most beautiful thing I had carry with my hand, his eye is so enchanting that I never wants to put him down.” I sniffed; it is really a cold chilly night to reflect about the past which will always determine my future.

She glare at me and stretch out her hand and said “Hi, I am Pauline; let’s join forces to save your boy.”
