Summoning the Troops

A winter breeze gently whispered in his ears, a forest covered in thick ice congealing it. The world is similar to the cold age. He dumbfoundedly looked around and saw nothing but white. Knowing this, he was irritated.

“What the hell—I’ve been summoned in the worst starting point, how unlucky.” He let out a forced chuckle, well, whatever happens, happens. There is no choice but to accept the cruel situation.

Shivering in the cold wind, he tried to rub his hands to produce some heat and gently placed his heated hand onto his face.

Then a computer-like interface appeared in front of his vision. From the looks of it, this must be the thing that the goddess was talking about.

Seeing the option in the menu, Michael took an analysis.

From what the menu was saying, a word called “Summoned Armaments” is very familiar to him.

Then he decided to take it on in a test by thinking of specific specifications of the widely used gun in the United States.

[ The weapons and equipment which are available to be summoned are limited to what has been developed up to 1945 Common Era (CE). This ability is restricted to the user's current level, increasing levels will, in turn, raise the summon limit & lessen some restrictions. At this time the number of soldiers and amount of weapons is limited to a certain degree. ]

I see, so I can summon weapons dated back from world war 2? And there are also levels that determine my growth, it said that if my levels are high then he can acquire more powerful weapons?

Not bad, world war 2 weapons are not weak after all.

After reviewing the [Summoned Armaments] and [Status] tabs, Michael decided to check the rest of his menu options.

In the case of Artillery, Vehicles, Aircraft & Naval Vessel summons, the required amount of operating personnel will be summoned alongside.

Logistical Combat Support personnel (Combat Engineers・Maintenance/ Mechanics ・Communications Specialists・Supply & Food Specialists・Medical Soldiers・etc.) are not included in the Infantry summon limit, currently the available summon limit of LCS personnel is equivalent to the size of a brigade element.

There are no restrictions for summoned small-caliber weapons or heavy weapons that require 2-3 soldiers to operate.

[ Settings for Military Summons (Soldiers) ]

You can modify the characteristics of your summoned Soldiers ( Gender, Age, Personality, Weapons, and Equipment). These parameters can be modified in advance.

When parameters are not set, the gender, age, and personality of the summon individual will be randomized, summoned weapons and equipment for the individual will be at the summoner's choosing.

Additional information, vacancies from soldiers killed in combat cannot be immediately replaced, a month is required before replacement personnel can be summoned

[Important Ability Notes]

It is possible to summon via thought or voice commands, without viewing the menu screen.

Ability to summon Personnel and Equipment can be regulated.

You can not summon weapons, equipment, or soldiers during combat.

Reviewing the information from his screen, Michael decided to use his powers.

For his primary weapon, he selected the M1 Garand semi-automatic rifle, as for his sidearm, a Colt M1911A1, some Mk 2 Grenade, and a bayonet.

That should complete his United States Soldier military set.

Now let’s adapt to our environment, I should change my attire to survive in this cold. And since I’m armed with a United States military set, I’ll go with their military uniforms as well.

Okay,...let’s see… the active service uniforms for the winter set are...I see, so these are the uniforms of the troops of the U.S in world war 2 huh? Then I’ll take it and its helmet, military boots, gloves, portable shovel, a combat vest with pouches, and some medicine and this…..

One after another, Michael summoned weapons, gear, and anything that came to mind. After finishing up his summons, he took a look at his screen once more.

Holding the guns with his grasp, a nolgastic feeling swept through his body. To be able to touch a weapon again in another life. Despite the heaviness of world-war two equipment, there are no words that can describe his happiness.

Okay now to build a proper army, I should summon some soldiers to scout the surroundings

And just like how he summoned his weapons, he summoned his Soldiers with just a use of the menu system, they all stand up straight, ready, and in perfect order.

Michael feels a wave of tension from the groups who lined up before him.

Lined up in perfect columns and rows, suddenly one Soldier steps forward, positioning themselves in front of the group. Lifting their hand and giving a salute, the Soldier begins to give out commands.

“Company, Attention! Sir, 250 soldiers reporting for duty, sir!”

Still, in amazement, he heard a voice that was directed towards him, Michael came back to his senses and responded back to the Soldier.

“At ease soldier, and who might you be?”

Maintaining an upstanding attitude, the soldiers maintain their salute, lowering it firmly once Michael was directly in front of them.

“Reporting sir, Major Raphael Einsberg, Company Commander. I will serve as your second in command and military adviser, sir!”

“Raphael huh?”

He remembered the goddess that sent him to this world. Introducing herself, Michael can’t help but ask.

“Second in command? Hmm, I believe that you’re mistaken, I haven’t selected my second in command yet.”

A word of doubt rang at Raphael’s head, making her feel bad, but she answered resolutely.

“Sir, the moment you summoned us, the system automatically chooses the second in command officer, which is me, sir.”

Explaining her situation, Michael immediately understood it.

“Alright Major Raphael, I look forward to working with you from now on.”

As her hat was removed, her golden hair instantly cascaded down like a waterfall; the sunlight reflected by her hair made him feel dizzy; with her aquiline nose and her sparkling sapphire and overall features revealed a more mature charm. If he were to guess her age, he could say that she’s in early twenties.

Now that he looked at her appearances, he glanced behind her and saw the perfectly lined troops.

“Major, please report to me our unit’s male to female ratio.”

Noticing a lot of feminine faces amongst the soldiers, Michael asks Raphael the current composition of troops.

“Sir, 150 out of 250 are female, that includes myself sir.”

Hmm, I see, I never expected for this to happen, maybe I didn’t think about setting up the Unit Characteristics before summoning troops. I never imagined that there would be more female soldiers than male soldiers.

While in deep thought over the current state of his summoned army, Major Raphael speaks her mind.

“You may be cautious about having more female soldiers than men, but worry not because we can fight as well as our male counterparts. So please don’t overthink it.”

Michael was snapped back to reality after hearing her remarks. For someone like her, being able to think what he’s currently thinking made him feel happy.

Letting out a force smile on his face. Michael continued.

“You’re right, I shouldn’t worry about this matter.”

“Then sir, what are your orders?”

Looking at him with a sincere gaze, he decides to give orders towards his newly summoned unit.
