“Well then, first off, to become a proper army, we need something that describes us as an army. So let’s build a military base first that has a command center and a defensive perimeter, then we’ll send out recon teams to our surrounding areas.”

While informing everyone about his plan, Michael operated his menu screen, summoning the facilities he proposed.
Summoning durable things made of concrete, he established the Command Center as well as a communications facility.
For defense perimeter, he summoned up thick defensive walls, barbed wire for trenches, and created dug-outs and pillboxes, finalizing with watchtowers.
He also summoned weapons to establish strong defensive points, by creating weapon emplacements on all sides.
“Now, we’ll need weapons in order to defend this place.”
In terms of defensive capabilities, one tried and a true weapon was the M2 Browning, adopted by the United States military in 1933, this .50 caliber machine gun is still being manufactured and used in many places around the world to date.
Along with the M2 Browning, Kazuya summoned the M20 Recoilless Rifle, an anti-tank weapon designed to fire 75mm rounds. In terms of ranged bombardment, Kazuya summoned the M1938 Mortar, five units of BM-13 Katusha Multiple Rocket Launcher, ten units of T34 Calliope (A modified M4 Sherman tank with an MRLS), five M115 Howitzers, five Type 96 15cm Howitzers, and all kinds of weapons in varying degrees.
Alright, now that we have a good defensive force, next is trying to recon the area around us.
Finalizing their base's defenses with assistance from their engineers; soldiers and support personnel assemble at Michael’s command.
Once everyone came together, the soldiers all stomp their feet, standing tall and ready. Observing that everyone is present, Michael begins to deliver his address.
“Now here’s your task: we'll be sending out people to recon the area. According to our knowledge, we are inside the Forest of No Return. We don’t know what country or territory we are situated in, or the geography of the place, et cetera. That’s why this mission is of utmost priority. I’ll have 12 squads composed of ten units each, you will explore the geography and the environment surrounding this location like a clock. Following the cardinal numbers of each clock number, you will embark from this point and extend your search five kilometers out. Approximately 3 kilometers to the east of us, is the sea. The squad that reaches that point, I want you to extend your survey into the sea as well. If you come across anything, human artifacts, structures during your reconnaissance, report them immediately to the Command Center and standby for further instructions. In the event of an emergency, I want all of you to act within your discretion.”
“SIR YES SIR!”
“The remaining personnel will continue building and maintaining our perimeter defenses. Even if you’re not participating in the recon mission, you will receive weapons and necessary equipment. And for the members going out for reconnaissance, several medical support personnel will be attached to your squad. That is all. Company dismissed.”
“Oorah”
After receiving their instructions and missions, the troops do a final salute before leaving the formation.
Alright, I’ll need to ramp up summoning additional weapons and gear for my men.
Even though the semi-automatic rifle, which is the M1 Garand, is a powerful weapon at the time of world war 2, their firepower is still lacking. So he summoned heavy machine guns like Browning M1918A2, Browning M1919A4 medium machine gun, a sniper rifle such as the Springfield M1903A1, and a rocket launcher.
With their current weapons, they should be able to handle most situations.
As the 12 squads left to go scout the area with their respective members, both support and medical troops. The artillery support around their outpost was finalized, as they could provide artillery cover to any squad in the vicinity.
Inside the command center, the office of the commander. Michael was listing everything he knows so far about the system he received from the goddess.
First, he is able to summon weapons and vehicles limitlessly, meaning that he can have as many as he can in reserve. Second, the soldiers that he summoned are almost loyal to him as if he served them for almost a decade.
Just by that information, he can tell that his power in this world is overpowered in spite of being a world war 2 armament. How long will he be able to reach the current year where most advanced weapons are developed?
He hid the paper under his desk with a joyous expression as his thoughts were filled with anticipation.
Meanwhile, in the same room, Raphael stood idly beside her. Seeing his commander in a child-like expression made her wonder.
“Commander, is there something wrong?”
“No not at all, why do you ask?”
“Because of your…”
She pointed at his face.
“Ahh, I was thinking about something, more like thinking of the future.”
Raphael gasped lightly.
“Ah I see, then I look forward to seeing that.”
For now, they are waiting for the report of each squad he sent out to recon the area. He took this opportunity to know more about her.
She noticed again his scrutinizing eyes.
“Is there something on my face?”
She asked in a quite lofty tone, even though she is just a second-in-command, his subordinate, it felt like this woman is the commander in the room. Which troubled him slightly.
Wearing her German-Esque black military uniform. It appears to be flashy and revealing. Even the button of her military uniform looks like it’s having trouble keeping her voluptuous peachy breast intact.
“No, there’s nothing, I’m just thinking of something, is the female in our troops really as beautiful as you?”
“Beautiful? Commander, do you think that we are summoned here just so you can think about perverting things to us?”
She said repulsively, did that make her angry?”
“I do not, why are you arriving at such a conclusion? I am a soldier in my past life and I’ve never in my life thought like that.”
He stood up from his seat and walked forward to Raphael, he moved his hands towards Raphael’s shoulder to assure her— suddenly, Raphael negated it with a slight move of her hand and looked him dead in the eye.
“Keep your hand to yourself, our relationship is of commander and subordinate only, if you ever crossed a line, I as your second-in-command shall impose punishments upon you.”
With her cold expression, Michael gave up on the thought of assuring her and decided to leave the room. But before leaving, Michael glanced back without turning his head.
“You don’t need to clarify or remind me. But as my second-in-command, I want to develop a relationship with you, not romantically.”
He closed the door after leaving, leaving her there behind. Michael since Raphael seems to be distant from him, Michael deepens his relationship with the other soldiers who stayed behind the base.
As time whittled away, reports started to come in from the scouting troops.
“Command, this is 6th Squad, we’ve reached the sea, no signs of humans or wildlife activity. * break* As there’s nothing else to report, requesting to return to base, over”
“Copy that 6th Recon, you may return back to base, over”
Not long after the 6th Recons transmission, the 4th and 8th Recon squads reported similar findings.
Waiting for the other squads to finish their report, the 9th squad follows up with an interesting discovery.
“Command, this is 9th Recon, over”
“This is Command, standing by for your report”
“At approximately 3 kilometers from the outpost, we came across an abandoned village, requesting guidance over.”
“This is Command we copy, 9th recon stands by for reinforcements. We’ll get in touch with the 10th recon and send them over to your location to support you, over.”
“Roger Command, we’ll stand-by to link up with 10th Recon and explore the abandoned village. 9th Recon, out”
Just as 9th Recon ended their radio transmission, the Command Center went to hail 10th Recon.
“10th recon, this is Command, do you copy?”
“This is 10th recon, loud and clear”
“10th recon, we need you to link-up with the 9th to explore some abandoned village.”
“Copy that Command, 10th recon will link up with 9th recon to explore some village, 10th recon out.”
Finishing the transmission, Michael took a serious face for a moment. Raphael, who was standing on his side asked.
“Commander, what is it?”
“It’s odd.”
“What do you mean odd?”
Raphael tilted her head to the side, curiously.
“We are in the Forest of No Return and yet there is a village 3 kilometers away from our location. Something doesn’t add up.”
Just as he was in his deep thought, something unexpected occurred.
--Booom.
All of a sudden, a great explosion rocked the forest.
“What was that.”
“We don’t know sir! We’re verifying it right now!”
Right at that time, one of the soldiers patrolling the perimeter burst into the Command Center.
“Commander, we can see the black smoke rising, from the west of us.”
Shouting out what they’ve seen while on patrol, the Command Center fell into slight disarray, trying to verify the situation.
“Got it!! Give me a report on which units are directly west of us!”
“Copy that. Sir, contact from 11th & 12th Recon, they’re in the vicinity where the explosion occurred, both units are rushing to where the smoke is rising,”
Calling out to the affected squads, the communications soldier relays information they received to Kazuya.
“Thank you for the report!! Major!”
“Yes, Commander?”
“I want you to organize a group of soldiers, weapons ready, and send them to support our Reconnaissance squad.”
“Understood. I will assemble a quick reaction force and have them depart immediately!”
Receiving her orders, Raphael salutes before carrying them out.
Following the exchange, 12th Recon sent another radio transmission.
“General, incoming transmission from the 12th Recon.”
“Got it, patch it through.”
Receiving the microphone from one of the communications soldiers, Michael responds to the 12th Recons, Squad leader.
“This is the Commander, what’s the situation, over”
“Sir, this is the 12th reporting, we rushed over to the point of where the blast occurred and came upon…”
Leaving him on the edge of the seat, Michael urged him to spill it out.
“You may not believe this sir but we see a giant humanoid standing 30 meters fighting a giant viper snake that spits fire.”
“What?”
Dumbstruck at the moment, Michael recalled something important.
He was reincarnated in this world which is different from his own, in this world magic and fantasy creatures exist.
Are those creatures that they saw from the west the fantasy creature that the goddess is referring to?
There is no need to think, he needs to come up with an action fast.
“Major change of plan, ready the artillery weapons that we currently have. I’ll summon a bomber plane and a tank in advance. We don’t know what we are against but it looks like we need to give everything we’ve got.”
Raphael saluted after receiving her new orders.
Michael then transmits new orders to the 12th squad who are in the location.
“12th Recon, maintain your observation, analyze their movements and take out those two individuals if at all possible. We have a platoon full of reinforcements and an air support en-route to your location. Be sure to engage the enemy without revealing your position. After neutralizing the target, return to base. The strategy for this mission, I leave it up to you. But if you fail in neutralizing the target, withdraw and return to base immediately. That is all, over.”
“Understood, sir. We’ll take action as soon as we link up with the reinforcements――!? Commander! The battle between the two monsters is over, it appears like the giant humanoid that looks like a cyclops won. We’ll keep surveillance until reinforcements get here, over.”
“Understood 12th Recon, Stevens, out.”
Ending his radio transmission with the 12th reconnaissance squad, Michael orders the communication soldiers to transmit on all open channels.
“This is the Commander, I want all units out on a reconnaissance mission to return to base immediately.”
“Understood!”
After sending out a recall order to the rest of the units out on reconnaissance, one after another Michael waits for a response.
