Leading the 12th Recon, Sergeant James Alexander, finishing up his report and receiving orders from Michael, he turns towards his men who were waiting for his order. “Alright men, we just received an order from the Commander, the two creatures that we’ve been observing are most likely our enemy and must be eliminated. Reinforcements from the base will arrive shortly, we’ll be combining our forces with 11th Recon and take an offensive position, then we’ll execute our mission.” Right after he gave an overview, one from his squad raises his hand. “Sergeant, what’s our strategy to defeat this monster?” “Our plan will be simple, first we will test its strength from a distance, with our snipers from our squad and the 11th Recon will take their position and shoot rounds to distract the cyclops. Meanwhile, the remaining troops will use this time to go around its perimeter and set up our heavy machinery and shoot it. And if our firepower is still lacking, then we can request artillery support from the Command.” Breaking his explanation, he glanced over his squad. “Are there any questions? If not then get moving. I want a soldier to get on a radio to get in touch with our reinforcements. Notify them about the plan and get in touch with the 11th Recon and give them the same information.” After briefing his men, Sergeant James joined his subordinates in tracking their enemy. “Where’s the target?” “It’s over there.” “This is the 11th Recon, we’re in position.” As the 11th Recon got into position, they relayed their status over to Sergeant James’s squad, maintaining a certain distance on the target. “Then let’s start our offensive. 12th Recon’s sniper will fire the first shot, then 11th Recon’s sniper will follow up with a second shot. If that fails, then we’ll continue with the next stage of the plan” As soon as Sergeant James received 11th Recon’s status, he began to lay out his strategy towards his own troops. Just as he finished talking, his sniper who had been in the position, began to pull back the bolt of his sniper rifle. Loading the round in the chamber, he breathed in and focused his mind onto the sniper scope. Taking aim using his sniper scope, the 12th Recon’s sniper simply pulled the trigger and the round of the M1903 Springfield sniper rifle bustled in the air, creating a piercing noise. The first shot successfully hit the Cyclops’s chest and the second shot from the 11th Recon hit the Cyclops’s arms. The Cyclops bellowed in anguish as it started to brandish the trunk of the tree which seems to be his weapon. “The target is now distracted, maintaining a cover fire.” The 12th Recon sniper reported his sightings and all at once, the 11th and 12th recon began to fan out in all directions, encircling it. The Cyclops is still distracted and annoyed by the 7.62×63mm rounds hitting its body. “We are now in position, all troops open fire.” Once arriving at their position, Sergeant James gave the men a go-signal, prompting all the troops around the Cyclops including the 11th Recon to fire their weapons. A rapping noise emitted by the semi-automatic rifle, M1 Garand, a lightweight machine gun M1919A2 Browning pierced and splintered all the surrounding trees and soils. Not giving the Cyclops to retaliate. Its body began to turn into honeycombs as the piercing rounds of 7.62×63mm. Bloods began to gush out from the tiny hole created by the bullets moving at blinding speed. But, after spending a minute spraying their rounds onto the target, there seems to be no development at all. The Cyclops stood tall and didn’t wave at the torrent of bullets hailing upon him. Seeing their armaments to be ineffective, Sergeant James adopted a new plan. “Okay, we’ll bring out the bazooka this time. Our weapons are ineffective despite being wounded countless times. Make sure to aim to its head.” “Yes sir.” While Sergeant James exhausted his M1 Garand Sniper Rifle at the enemy, he immediately replaced it with a new clip to push forward on his plan, which is to relay cover fire. One of the soldiers daringly walked forward near the Cyclops and aimed his Bazooka that was placed on his shoulder and fired a HEAT round. Then an explosion that shook the earth resounded from the battlefield. A Black column of smoke began to rise on its body, the incessant rounds of bullets still dirtying the white world in black. As the black smoke dissipated, the upper body of the Cyclops was nowhere to be seen as it fell to the ground. Is this their victory? No…it's still early to determine. Sergeant James himself approached its corpse to check if it's alive or dead. From its appearance, it was no doubt that it was dead, but as a soldier, he still needed to confirm it. Poking the corpse with the attached bayonet in his M1 Garand, he got no reaction. Seeing this, Sergeant James raised his thumbs-up, indicating that they successfully eliminated the threat. As reinforcements from base finally arrived, Sergeant James had the Cyclops corpse destroyed. Reporting their victory back to Command, 11th and 12th Recon can finally return back to base. “Mission Complete! Let’s return to base boys!” ______________________________________ For some time, sounds of the explosion and gunfire from the west could be heard as far as their outpost. “Command this is the 12th Recon reporting, the target has been eliminated, as for our casualties, we have three wounded, minor injuries from the stray rounds. There are no KIA’s, since we’ve destroyed the target’s corpse, we’ll be returning to base over.” “Copy that, 12th Recon, we’ll see you back in the base, Command out.” Now that, that’s finished, there’s something still bothered inside the Command. It was the chief-of-command. Michael Stevens. “Sir what’s the matter?” Raphael snapped him back to his senses who was thinking deeply. “That abandoned village that we’re about to discuss, I want to explore that place for possible contact.” “Do you want me to organize troops to explore that area?” “I was about to say that, but please do so. If possible I want at least 50 men to discover and explore it…” “I understand, the fact that there are fantasy creatures roaming in this forest, we need to take every precaution.” Raphael said softly. “I know, but before doing so, I’ll meet up with the 11th and 12th Recon for briefing. I want to know what they were up against.” “Understood.” Finishing their conversation, Raphael saluted with a smile. Michael heads out towards the military base that he built in a short amount of time. Seeing the darkness clouding over the vast white world, Michael noticed that it was getting dark. Street light poles began to light up the surroundings. If he didn't have this power in the first place, he would be completely isolated and die from hypothermia. One hour later… “11th Recon, 12th Recon, have just returned.” One of the troops who were part of the 11th Recon reported to Michael. Michael tidies himself and meets the two squads returning from their first mission. “Good job everyone, get some rest you guys earned it.” Returning from their missions without serious casualties, Michael ordered them to get some well-deserved rest. Meanwhile deciding to check out the ruins 9th Recon discovered, Michael picked a Soldier who had not gone out with the reconnaissance squads and had them prepare a platoon. “Alright soldiers, we will check the abandoned village discovered by the 9th squad.”
