Chapter 11

I have spent the last 4 months reading every book in Evan's library looking for ways to keep Esme with is once she has accomplished her task for uniting the realms. I fond once piece of old parchment but it was a dead end. I need to figure out before anything happens.

"Hello my love." I heard my sweet mates voice sing.

"Hello my angel. How are you doing?" I said pulling her into my lap and wrapping my arms around her.

"It's happened! They are mated, and they have marked each other. Isn't that wonderful news?" she said wiggling around with excitement.

"That is really good news love. When we will be able to sign the treaty and go home?" I asked.

"Soon, Jackson is having it all drawn up and than will hand It over to Rowan for his to look for before we sign it." she replied with a smile.

"Excuse me, do you have a moment?" we heard Evan say from the doorway.

"Of course, what's on your mind my friend?" I said with a smile.

"I just got this from the werewolves in the South East. I read it but I am sure you will want to know what it says…" he said looking down and handing the letter to my mate.

She took a deep breath placing the letter down and rubbing her temples.

"What is it?" I asked her rubbing her back trying to sooth her.

"These dogs are testing my patience my love." she said before handing me the letter.

Demon Queen,

We the Dimond Pack do not accept your document of peace. We will not follow Jacksons foolish path into the darkness you are offering. If you do not accept this we will happily meet you in the field to settle our differences. You have a fortnight to reply. If you do not we will see this as your submission to leave us alone to our ways.

I let a low growl escape from my chest.

"Evan, please get the others including Jackson. It is time to prepare for war." she said before standing and making her way to the council room. I could see the fear and anger on her face. I stood and followed her. I finally caught up to her wrapping my arms around her pulling her into me. She turned pressing her face into my chest and she let it all out crying.

"It's okay Angel, we will get through this. I promise." I said

"I am scared for our people Alastair." she through her tears.

"They are strong my love, they will come out of this okay." I said trying to sooth my mate, with every tear my heart broke.

"I hope so Alastair, I couldn’t handle this is one of them was to get hurt." she said looking up at me. I leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her lips.

"I am sorry to interrupt you. Everyone is ready for you." Evan said before walking into the council room.

I took her hand squeezing it tight looking at her letting her know I was here every step of the way. We walked into the room seeing our friends and their mates waiting for us.

"I have called you hear because Grey Pike has declared war and we must start getting ready for it. I need all of our fighting men and women ready, please bring them all here and we will go to the clearing once it is time. Evan I need you to write a reply to his letter letting him know our choice on this matter. " I said holding my mate close to my side, I will be here to protect her from all things.

"We understand it will be done." Rowan said clutching his mate to his side.

"Victor, Arabella I would ask you to stay here and protect Dagon." Esme said.

"We will protect him with our life Esme." Victor said proudly.

I knew that Victor took great pride in the responsibility of caring for my son, I knew if something were to happen to me and Esme he would raise Dagon to be a good man and a great leader.

Esme's POV

"Arabella may  I speak to you please?" I asked.

"Yes my Queen." She said stepping out of Victors grip following me into the hallway.

"I need to ask you to do something for me." I said

"Anything." she said taking my hand.

"If something happens to me, please for me and my son make sure Alastair does not crumble, make sure he stays strong for Dagon. Please." I said

"Of course, Victor and I will never let Alastair lose himself. And we will never let Dagon go through life not having parents." she said wrapping into a hug.

I left her standing there, I need to speak with Sage.. She will know how to end this war without much blood shed. I walked to the edge of the platform taking a deep breath calling to her. I heard the strength of her wings cutting through the air first, than I heard her cry before I saw her land next to me. I placed my hand on her face placing my forehead to her beck.

"I need your wisdom my friend." I whispered to her.

She rubbed her head on me letting me know she was here to aid me.

I climbed onto her back. She spread her wings letting out a load scream before taking off. I needed to feel the wind wrapping around me hugging my tightly, whipping all the stresses of my day away. I heard her let out a deep growl, I looked down to see the large field filled with werewolves. I felt the rage bubbling up inside me, it started bursting through every seam of my body until my demon side exploded taking me over completely. I felt Sage dive down towards the mass of wolves gathered, we spread our fire across the field before retreating to the clouds watching from above.  I saw the wolves scatter as their packs were light on fire, their cries crushing into me, I dropped my head letting tears slid down my checks.

"Your doing this for your people." I said to myself.

I straightened myself back up gripping onto Sage as we dove down for another attack. I let all my fire flow through every cell of my body combining it with her fire again burning the remaining wolves. All but 1 Grey.

"Sage, we need him alive." I said to her.

She swooped down grabbing onto him with her claws. He tried struggling, screaming and making threats agaisnt my people, my mate and my son. I forced myself to calm turning back into my human form just as we arrived to the platform. Sage dropped Grey and the guards rushed to grab him placing cuffs on his wrists. I got off Sage placing a kiss to her face before she flew away above the clouds.

"Bring him." I said to the men as I walked past.

"You’re a monster not a Queen." he said from behind me causing me to stop and turn to face him.

"I am a monster that will destroy worlds if it means my family and my people stay safe. I will rip mountains down I will burn cities into ashes for them." I said taking a step closer wrapping my hand around his throat. "I will burn you from the inside out before I allow you to hurt anyone."

I let go of him and walked back into the keep, I was met with my mates burning gaze.

"I know your angry Alastair. But I can not allow someone to hurt you if I am able to protect you." I said placing my hand across his cheek.

"When will you let me protect you?" he said pressing his face more into my hand. I placed a kiss to his lips before taking his hand leading him back to the council room. We sat and waited for the others to join us.

"This is wrong and you know it demons, my tribe never hurt anyone." Grey said.

"You did the day you sent a declaration of war to my door step dog." I spat out.

The others walked in, Evan placed the peace treaty in front of me before he handed the pen to Jackson, he looked at Grey and than to the paper he signed his name, everyone else followed than it was up to my mate to bind the contract. He signed his name with his fire. I stood rolling it up placing it in its final resting place. I took my seat beside Alastair looking at Grey who look defeated.

"Please join our people Grey. I am tired of the fighting, the death. It all needs to end." I said looking at him with a soft face.

"No, but I will leave this place finding my own way with no thoughts of ever returning." he said.

I motioned for my guards to remove his cuffs. I was the first to leave the room walking out to the platform. I was joined by everyone who was closest to me, We were going to say goodbye to the loan wolf. I walked over to him offering my hand, he took it pulling me into him before he drove a dagger into my side. I could hear my mates screams, I saw Rowan and Evan jump on him as Alastair caught me pulling me to his chest.

"No, you cant leave me Esme, not now." he said as the fire grew in his eyes and hot fire poured out of his body.

"It's okay, I love you." I said placing my hand on his face. "Take care of our son, be good to him. Make him a strong leader. Promise me."

"Please don’t leave us.. Please Angel." he said with tears falling down his face, his grip getting tighter around me and his body shaking. I could feel the sadness, the hate, the regret flooding through his body.

"Promise me my love." I said.

"I promise. I love you, you were the best thing that has ever come into my life." He said leaning down placing a kiss to my lips, he lingered there not ready to break the connection.

I heard the cry of Sage as she dove down to me, she landed hard. She came out over taking me from Alastair's grip wrapping my in her talons before stretching her wings carrying me above the clouds. She wrapped her wings around us before her body started burning, I could feel the fire burning through my body, trapping me, invading me with such intestacy I screamed out in pain. I was falling from the clouds towards the platform. I looked up to see Sage's ashes floating towards the stars, towards her lost mate. I looked down seeing mine still on his knees in pain. Alastair looked up just in time to catch me, he pulled in close to his chest.

"You’re here." he said.

"I freed her, and now I am done. I am able to live in peace with you our child and our people. We can be free." I said placing a kiss to his cheek. "She is free, she is with her mate now."

"Are you free? Will you stay here with me until our fires go out together?" He asked.

"Yes my love." I said with a kiss.

We stood there for a long time holding each other, kissing each other and just being grateful for the gift Sage gave us.

We will rule until Dagon was of age.
