As much as I would have liked to stay downstairs and watch my parents stumble over their words while they were around me, I found myself slowly realising that it was pointless for me to stick around down here. I knew that I had already announced that that would be what I was going to do, but truth be told, I had just said that so that I would be able to see my parents reaction—and we had already deduced what it meant. There was nothing for me to gain any more. Yes, there was nothing for me to do upstairs either, but what I would be able to do, was go to bed, and that right there, was almost as good as a first class price. If I followed through and did go upstairs, then I would leave my parents to sort through their problems on their own, and the chances of them coming to me afterword
