I could hear the hope in my mothers’ voice, but even so, I was able to pick up on the fact that she was still prepared for me to say no. I knew that there was no real need for me to be doing what I was doing, but then again, even so, I hadn’t been able to shake off the thought that my mother would simply decide to show up here unannounced. I didn’t like the possibility of it happening, and I would do the best that I could to make sure that I didn’t allow it to happen. I knew myself well enough to know that I would do everything that I could.
