The alarm clock blares in the background, waking me up from the best sleep I’ve had in a while. I roll over to hit the snooze button, miss, and knock my phone onto the floor. My eyes aren’t ready to open yet, so I lay there for a few minutes before finally prying them open. I blink and rub my eyes to clear the sleep from them, and they sting slightly from the lotion I had on my hands. I throw my legs over the edge of the bed, lazily sitting up. I grab my phone and notice I have a text message from Sia.
“Happy birthday!!! I love you, and I will see you when I get home!!”
A warm smile spreads, and I reply, “Thank you, and I love you too. See you soon!”
I took today off of work since it’s my birthday, and Maddie scheduled an appointment for me
