Chapter 5: Permission

Zanes Pov

"Alpha Wick." I said, kneeling before him. "Rise." he replied. Looking up to him, he was staring at me. "How are you, Zane? you've taken 2 days off and been having the other guards fill you in. What would you have done if an invasion happened?" he asked with a thickness in his voice. I knew he'd make a comment about it. I'm his 'Golden Star' guard. "Alpha Wick, do you not trust in me? I had Ryan with me -"

He interrupted me. "That's right, you and Ryan both left. My 2 top soldiers."

I hoped I didn't get Ryan in trouble.

"Not to start a fight or to sound rude Alpha Wick, but one of those days was a day off for us."

He looked at me and said, " Zane, why wander to the humans? I prefer us to stay out of their territory so we don't risk wars."

I looked down. I knew that already, but I wasn't a full wolf. I was half human, too. And so sometimes it was nice to be in different surroundings. The air down the mountains was different, and so was the energy. Humans weren't a pack. "I am not a full wolf, so why can't I, every once and awhile, have a change of scenery?"

There was silence, and then he said, "You're just like your dad. He likes the human world, too, and just because you're not a full wolf doesn't mean you're not a threat still." My father was no longer in this world nor my mother. I was commonly told I was like him, though I never met him. "So aren't you gonna ask why I asked you to be here?" He said, looking towards me.

"I'm sure you already heard the news, Alpha Wick." He nodded and said,"Care to explain?" This is why I liked Alpha Wick he wasn't a full asshole but didn't care to change my opinions or thoughts he just wanted to see where we were coming from. "Ryan and I decided we'd go to a new place to eat because all the other places we have been eating at didn't sound appetizing. So we went down 2 blocks and found a corner restaurant called Ravenswood Inn, and it was a small rustic themed place. So we sat down, ready to try this new place when the waitress named Faye came over to get our drinks. I had her scent, and instantly, it made me feel fuzzy inside, and when she spoke for the 1st time, hearing her voice gave me electricity down my spine. I couldn't even talk to her because of how much she affected me. Making me go weak, tingly, sweaty, nervous, and crazy. Ryan did all the talking for me till the very end. I asked for her number, and when she said yes, I gave a slip of paper with my number already on it because I don't think I could stand being by her without marking her right then and there." I said, feeling flustered. Bringing the feeling of knowing brought an ache in my chest, wishing she was by me. He paced slowly and asked, "How many times have you and Ryan met with her?" I hoped he wouldn't have minded."Twice, the 2nd was to be sure she was my mate. Ryan and I did a double date. I took Faye, and her friend Sabrina went with Ryan."

"Who's Sabrina to Faye?" I said, looking at him."She works with Faye."

He nodded and asked, "Okay. And I suppose you don't want to discard this human and find a new mate?" with his eyebrows raised. Shocked, I said, "Hell no!" My wolf took this as a threat and wanted to break free and run towards Faye and hold her. How could I give her up? She was the love of my life.

"Okay, well, Zane, I need you to listen. Humans can only be mated to a wolf if she has ancestors of wolves in her blood line. Seems to me like she does. And if you CAN win her over, she can not stay a human she needs to become a werewolf. She's going to have to become bitten. And there's a risk she won't survive it. The next thing is, if she finds out what you are and we are and rejects you , you can die. Another thing shewolves are not friendly with is unmated humans. Unmated humans are easily turned on by beautiful humans, and we are beautiful from our paranormal genes. You are to protect her. When she's mated, shewolves will calm down, but that's if she can accept our culture."

I nodded. "I can and will make her mine. I can already tell she's strong."

He took a couple of steps to me. "Humans have different instincts than us wolves she might fear you then love you. She might not be submissive either. Have you won her over yet?"

I shook my head. "No, she won't let her guard down fully, and I am not sure, but if I can keep seeing her and earn her trust, maybe I can find out."

He nodded and only said, "Good luck, Zane. I am on your side."

I smiled. "Thank you, Alpha Wick. This means so much to me!'

He replied, "Don't miss your shifts. You worked hard and fair to be the rank you are right now. But since I understand the predicament, I suppose we can work some of your shifts out to help win over your possible mate."

I couldn't believe Alpha Wick was giving me his blessing. "Me too."

"Now go and finish your shift, I'll talk to you tomorrow about hour changes."

I bowed again this time down to his feet to let him know and see I was truly grateful. I showed myself out and felt like I was on cloud 9.

Faye, now that I know my Alpha says we can be together, I am going to pour my soul and all my mental and physical strength into winning your heart.

I am not going to stop till I hear, "I love you, Zane." As I was walking to the exit alpha, Wick yelled to me "Zane one last thing!" I tuned to him."We need her DNA. I need to see her branch line of wolves. There could be wolves in her immediate family, and I need to make sure they're not enemies." I nodded. I really hoped they weren't. It would make it 10 times harder to have her as my mate. But if it was, it was a challenge I was willing to make. Anything for Faye.

Alpha Wick POV

I would be lying if I wasn't intrigued. I wonder if zane really did have the ability and the patience to have a human fall for a creature like us. I hope she makes a great she wolf, and I want Zane to check in regularly. so i can record this for the generation on tips to whoo a human. What kind of human is she and why my top solider. I can't wait to meet her.
