Chapter 2 - “My daughter lost her memory because of that dog gone car accident! WHY MUST THE UNIVERSE BE THIS f*****g CRUEL ON MY BABY GIRL?” - “Calm yourself down, Patricia! It’s not the end of the world or something. The doctor said she will regain her memory back either a day, a week or a month. Well, I can't seem to do anything or remember anything. Nothing. It feels like being born again but with the presence of conscience, common sense and varied feelings. According to my “sister”, Maze, she said that my name is Samantha Pereira. We're Malaysian Indians with some slight ancestry from the Portuguese. Middle class, Christians, born in Malacca but lived in Puchong all our lives, 21-years-old, just graduated from beauty school. Truth be told I do not know why I am supposed to be here. People treating me as if I am some sort of a sick person. I know I’ve been involved in an accident but why are there no bruises or marks on my body? Maze shifted her gaze from my mother and was looking at me. - “Come on in Samantha! This is our apartment. You were born and raised here. This could be a good place to start until you regain your memory.” My eyes began scanning the surroundings of my “humble home”. A jet black sofa set that was covered in cat fur and sweater lint, a TV, a dining table placed at the corner with a light blue colored linen tablecloth. On the walls there were several metallic and wooden crosses depicting the crucifixes of Jesus. The walls itself told another story itself. There were cracks, cold spots, the white paint was blotching from the concrete wall. It could be because of the tropical weather of Malaysia. Overall, the place looked damp, cold despite the dry spell we’ve been experiencing for the past few weeks – most importantly my own home looks eerie to me and I can't say why.
