KC had a vague recollection of the ride to the hospital. All she remembered was the sense of unreality. Shapes and images blurred together as she sat at the back of Martin’s car, hands clasped together on her lap. Her wide eyes staring ahead as they followed the ambulance that Mark and Steven rode.
“Where are we?” She heard herself ask Eileen on the way.
