Chapter 17 Izzy We’re up and getting ready for our day. We’ve eaten breakfast and he asks, “What do you want to get done today?” I look up at him in the mirror and say, “Thought I’d go pack up my desk at work and then head to my house and pack mine and Jason’s things.” I tell him before applying my lipstick. “We can do that. I called that therapist I was telling you about and she said she can see you this afternoon if you’re up for it.” He tells me. “Yeah. I can do that.” I tell him before moving to put on my shoes. We head out to the car and Nick heads towards the office. Once we pull up Ashton tells him to wait on us because we won’t be long. Heading into the office, I head to my boss’ office and knock on her door. “Izzy, what can I do for you?” Mary asks. “I wanted to talk to you a minute.” I tell her. “Okay. What’s up?” she asks. I take a seat across from her and say “I wanted to let you know I’m quitting. Effective immediately. I know it’s short notice and I know I should work out a notice but…” I ramble and she stops me. “Izzy, honey, look, I know you’ve been struggling. I honestly was surprised that you came back to work so soon after losing Jason. You need to take some time and process.” She tells me. “I know. I’m getting into therapy and hopefully can get to a better place.” I tell her. “That’s great but since I’m not your boss anymore, I have to ask, as your friend, is there something going on with you and Mr. Montgomery?” she asks. I look at her and smile softly and say “We’re together. He’s actually the one that talked me into quitting and getting into therapy.” I tell her. “That’s great. He’s a good man. And you deserve to be happy, but you better keep in touch. Keep me updated and let me know if you need anything.” She tells me. “Thanks Mary.” I say before heading to my desk to get the few things I have there. After getting my things, I head to Ashton’s office and Megan tells me to go on in. I walk in and see him talking to a woman and they are hugging. I close the door softly and Ashton hears the door click shut and looks up. Seeing him hugging this woman, who’s beautiful and thinner than me has my insecurities rearing its ugly head. “Izzy, hey baby. Did you talk to Mary?” he asks. “I did.” I say softly. “Izzy? This is her?” the woman asks. “Come here baby.” He says but I don’t move from my spot at the door. He looks at me and sees it. So does the woman. “Baby, this is Linda. She’s Karen’s sister. Karen, this is Izzy, my girlfriend.” He says. Linda walks up to me and says, “It’s so good to meet you.” As she takes my hands. “You are even more beautiful than he described.” She tells me. “Thank you.” I say softly. I look from Linda to Ashton, and he walks over and puts his arm around me and kisses my temple. “Linda came by to give me some good news.” He says and Linda looks at me and says “When my sister was still living, Ashton was the big brother I never had. After our parents passed and then Karen passed, we promised that we would always be family. So, I wanted to tell him in person that he’s going to be an uncle. My husband and I just found out we are pregnant.” She tells me. “Congratulations.” I tell her. “Thank you. Look, I know this must be strange for you, but he really is like a big brother to me, and I really hope we can get to know each other. He’s told me so much about you.” She tells me. I look at Ashton and he’s smiling wide. I look back at her and say, “I’d like that.” She smiles and pulls me into a hug and Ashton says “We better be going. We have a lot of packing to do before your appointment.” I nod and Linda says, “Get my number from Ashton and we can get together for lunch one day soon.” She tells me and I nod but I’m smiling a little. She looks at Ashton and says, “Don’t mess this up.” We head out and get into the car. “Are you okay?” he asks. “I think so. I just didn’t expect to be meeting Karen’s sister. She seems really nice.” I tell him. “She is but don’t think you have to meet with her if you’re not comfortable with it.” He tells me. “Do you not want me to?” I ask. “I would love for you and her to become friends. I know you don’t have a lot of people that you really rely on, and I think you two would get along great but if you do, I want you to do it for you, not for me.” He tells me. “I think I will. It will be nice having family to spend time with. I know she’s not your blood but like she said, you’re all the family she has left other than her husband and I don’t have any family. Other than you and Nancy I mean.” I tell him and he kisses me softly. “Well, then, let me give you her number.” He gives me her number and I send her a text so that she has my number, and we schedule to do lunch in a couple of days. After getting mine and Jason’s things packed, one of Ashton’s guys takes everything to our house while Ashton takes me to my appointment. We walk in and Ashton sits in the waiting room while I head into the office with the doctor. “Hello Izzy, my name is Katherine Lane, but you can call me Kathy. So, Ashton told me a little about what’s going on, but I’d like to hear it from you.” She says. “Okay. Well, seven months ago, my son, Jason, died. He was with his father and drown in the bathtub. Jason’s father was charged in his death but was found not guilty.” I tell her. “How have you been handling that?” she asks. “Not well. Was working myself too hard. Not eating right. Struggling mentally. Just feeling really lost and couldn’t get my footing.” I tell her. “That’s normal. When a person loses a child, it changes them. You go from being a mom and worrying about your child and concentrating on raising them and providing for them and when that’s taken away, there’s no one there to take care of anymore and your mind doesn’t know how to handle this kind of change.” She tells me. “How did you feel when you got pregnant?” she asks. “I was happy about it. My mom’s gone and my dad wasn’t ever around, so I didn’t have anyone. Mark, that’s Jason’s father, he didn’t want to be a dad. He told me to abort Jason, but I refused to. We stopped seeing each other after that. He wasn’t there when Jason was born either.” I tell her. “Did he see him after he was born?” she asks. “He didn’t see Jason until he was almost a month old. I didn’t ask for child support, but I did give him his father’s last name and put him on the birth certificate.” I tell her. “What made him decide to see Jason then?” she asks. “He would only come to see Jason when he thought it would help him get me to hook up with him. It never worked but didn’t stop him from using our son to try.” I tell her and she jots down notes. “So, what happened when Jason died?” she asks. “Mark asked to get Jason for the night. He said that if I was insisting that he was Jason’s father that he might as well spend some time with him. I didn’t want to send him but I always promised myself that I wouldn’t keep Jason’s father from him. When Mark didn’t show up to drop him off like he said he would the next day, I went to his house to get Jason. When I got there, I saw police cars and an ambulance. Mark had put Jason in his baby tub and got a phone call. He left Jason in the bathroom while he was on his call and when he came back into the room, Jason had supposedly rolled out of his baby tub and was face down in the water and couldn’t be revived.” I tell her and wipe the tears away. She hands me a box of tissues and gives me a minute to get myself together. We go on talking about me blaming myself and trying to get myself back together and me getting into a relationship with Ashton and our talking about our future and what that looks like and my fears about it. After the appointment, I walk out to the waiting room where Ashton is waiting for me. When he sees me, he stands to meet me and hugs me. “Let’s go home.” He says softly and I just nod. We get out to the car, and he rolls up the partition and asks, “How’d it go?” I snuggle into his side and say “We talked about Jason and Mark and about what happened with Jason. We talked about us and our future. Things like that. She said that appointment was basically our informative session to see what’s going on and get a game plan together. She wants to see me twice a week for a while.” I tell him. “That’s great baby. How did you feel talking to her?” he asks. “She was really easy to talk to. I like her.” I tell him. “Good.” He tells me. “Thank you for this. For everything.” I tell him. “You don’t have to thank me baby. I just want you to be happy.” He tells me. “I am happy.” I tell him. We get home and get unpacked before eating dinner. After eating, we head out to the patio with our evening coffees, like we do every night. “How are you feeling?” he asks. “I’m okay I think. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be talking to her and talking about Jason.” I tell him. “Izzy, I know it’s hard for you, but I am so proud of you for doing this and trying to move forward.” He tells me. I look up at him and say “Ashton, I honestly don’t think I would be able to move forward if it weren’t for you. You’ve literally given me the strength to do this.” I tell him. “Baby, you’re stronger than you think you are. You just needed someone to remind you.” He tells me. I lay my head on his shoulder and just look at the sun setting and just think. He’s gone above and beyond to make sure I’m happy and getting better. I sit up and move to put my now empty coffee cup on the coffee table and take his cup from him, doing the same with it. I move into his lap, and he pulls the blanket up over us. I lay my head on his shoulder, and he holds me closer. “I love you Ashton.” I whisper. He tilts my chin up and kisses me softly with a huge smile on his face and whispers “I love you more baby.” And I lay my head back on his shoulder with a smile on my face. We head to bed and as we are lying in bed, I’m facing him. I start placing kisses on his chest and kiss my way up to his lips. He kisses me back as soon as my lips touch his and I pull him to hover over me. His hand slides under my shirt and his fingers lightly brush against my stomach. I push him back a little and he looks at me confused. I take off my shirt and he sees that I’m not wearing a bra. His lips come crashing onto mine and he starts trailing kisses down my neck and across my collarbone. My fingers start running through his hair as his mouth reaches my breasts. He has one hand tweaking one n****e as his lips wrap around the other and he starts sucking the bud and flicking it with his tongue before switching to show the same attention to the other breast. My legs wrap around him, and I can feel his hard member against my panty covered core, even through his pajama bottoms and I can feel how large he is. He starts kissing down my stomach and pulling my panties down my legs before tossing them over his shoulder, onto the floor. He kisses one thigh before kissing the other and the teasing is driving me mad. Finally, I feel his tongue flatten out and he slowly licks from my entrance to my c**t before latching on. He feasts on my wet core as he causes me to arch off the bed. “Oh Ash. Don’t stop.” I moan. I feel him slip first one finger and then another one slides in and out of me as I start losing control. When I finally find my release, he kisses his way up my body and kisses me softly. I reach for the waistband of his pant and start sliding them down. He kicks his pants off and runs his hard member up and down my folds. “Baby…” he starts, and I kiss his softly. “I need you Ash.” I say and he smiles softly at the nickname. He reaches for the nightstand, and I stop him. “Are you sure?” he asks. “Whatever happens, right?” I ask. He smiles wide and says, “Whatever happens.” Before he enters me slowly and I feel how big he really is. Once he’s buried to the hilt, he gives me a minute to adjust to his size and I nod when it’s okay to start moving. He starts thrusting in and out, slow and easy and I can’t help but moan at how good it feels. “You feel so good baby.” He moans. “I love you so much.” I whisper in his ear as he makes love to me. He puts his forehead to mine and whispers “I love you. I’m going to marry you.” He says. I find my release repeatedly before he finds his inside me. Laying together in our blissful afterglow, I lay my head on his chest, and he kisses the top of my head. I look up at him and he caresses my face. We don’t have to say anything, we both know we’ve found our person, our one and only.
