"That way, the Moon Goddess will bless him with a safe journey! Please, Mom? Just give Uncle Jasper a kiss!"
Chloe choked on her words and nearly fainted on the spot.
She immediately realized what trouble her offhand story had caused.
She grabbed Jack and clapped a hand over his mouth. "What does a child know? I was telling him a story, Annie, I didn't mean for him to say anything."
Jack wiggled free of her hand. "But you said the Moon Goddess keeps them safe!"
"I said nothing!" Chloe said loudly.
A few heads turned. She lowered it. Her face was still red.
Jack laughed.
