The Anniversary surprise
My name is Eleanor Blackwood and today is my wedding anniversary.
I sat in my car, my eyes beaming with joy, my hands stirred the steering wheel. I looked at the key on my car seat, my eyes lit up and a smile found it's way to my lips.
I thought about my life with Ray Blackwood, the man I'd married seven years ago. The man who has been everything I could ever want or ask for in a man.
Our honeymoon had been great, Ray had given me orgasms after orgasms and everytime in our seven years of marriage he'd been amazing. He'd been loving, caring, attentive and everything I could ever ask for in a man.
I remembered our honeymoon almost every day of my life, it had been memorable even though I covered almost all the bills, but Ray had made it count.
I reminisced over everything that has happened between us. I was happy I hadn't listened to my parents warning about Ray. They never liked him for me, they had told me Ray didn't seem to be genuine. Something was amiss about him. They'd said he wanted to use me to climb the social ladder.
They had misunderstood him those years ago, he wasn't anything like that. Infact he was the sweetest man any woman could ever want to be with. The man who had loved me wholeheartedly and relentlessly. The man who I've known was nothing like that. My parents had totally misunderstood him.
Even though my parents had always treated everyone fairly, the rich , the poor, the middle class, I still felt that maybe they had prejudice over allowing their only daughter and heiress marry someone from a lower background.
I never thought my parents would harbor prejudice against anyone, but they'd disliked my man, and college sweetheart.
Back then in college, Ray was the hottest guy on campus. Even though he hadn't come from a rich background, Ray attracted many females his way. He was the name on almost every girl's mouth, almost every campus gossip had his name in it. Then we'd fallen in love there in college and Ray had been everything I've ever wanted in a man.
But my parents wouldn't consent to our marriage. They only agreed when I stopped eating, took to drinking and partying. They didn't want me losing herself .
Now thinking about my parents tears welled up in my eyes. She tried to fight it but it made its way down her cheeks.
The car crash that claimed their lives five years ago, only Vivian my best friend had survived .
Vivian is like family, we've been best friends since middle school. She loved everything I loved. When she heard I had gone to college to study Economics, she applied for same course but she couldn't get in at first try. She had to wait two more years before her admission arrived.
She might not be as smart as me intellectually but she is a fashion goddess. She wears luxury like she was born for it. She was definitely born for it. Isn't she the daughter of the CEO of Guild INC? Definitely she was born for luxury. She rocked her expensive outfits in grand style, her makeup and her expensive jewelries. She was quite the opposite of me. I was just indifferent to luxury, not like I hated it , no, but I only didn't see it as a necessity to wear all the luxurious things.
Even though I purchase really luxurious things on special occasions but I still loved the simple life style more. My fashion sense was top notch but I just didn't like being loud. I didn't like the flamboyant lifestyle. I didn't like getting into a room and heads swaying in my direction. I'm not the attention seeking type, but still heads turned to look at me each time I walked into a room.
Eyes always darted in my direction, why wouldn't it be like that?
Who wouldn't want to look at the woman who owns the most successful business in Lanaland ?
Definitely my name speaks louder than any luxury and announces me more.
My confidence was way more attractive than any kind of makeup.
Thinking about Vivian now, I dialed her number but there was no response. I wanted to gist her about the anniversary surprise. Maybe she was busy. What could she be busy with?
Probably doing Livestreams and showing off the new designer dress she just bought or the new designer shoes and handbag she just acquired.
If only Vivian knew how good she was with those lifestyle contents she makes online, she could have gotten a good management and monetized it, she could even influence for brands and make big money from it.
But Vivian didn't want anything that would bring her stress, she just wanted to sit still and enjoy luxury.
I slid my phone back into my purse and continued driving. I had one more gift for Ray. I rubbed my stomach gently. This time I would make sure I protect this baby. I've had two miscarriages, the first one was two years into our marriage. This time I won't let anything happen to this baby.
It was at that time I had the miscarriage that my parents had died. Vivian had decided to go with my parents to my parents company's annual gala . Ray had stayed home on the other hand tending to me. He prepared meals, took me to the bathroom and bathed me. Infact he abandoned all his modelling deals for a month to stay by my side and make sure I recovered fully before resuming his career.
I stared at the keys one time before looking away to continue driving. A pothole jolted me to slow down. I got to the house and alighted from the car quietly and headed straight to the door, it was slightly open. I entered gently into the the house quietly and carefully not wanting to make a noise. The house was quiet, like no one was home. I didn't want to call his name. I would just walk into the room and give him the surprise I've got, or better still I would lure him outside and then I would blindfold him with my hands and then I would show him the Rolls Royce I just bought for him.
My eyes darted across the room, there was a woman's dress in the hallway, and a pair of high heels. In the living room, a woman's disheveled panties lay on the couch, it looked like it had been ripped .
