Amara couldn't sleep.
The old photograph remained on her bedside table, staring back at her like a painful memory she could no longer escape.
Just before dawn, she finally opened the drawer and picked it up again.
Her fingers traced the face of the young man standing beside her.
"Jason..." she whispered.
Tears rolled down her cheeks.
Seven years ago, Jason had been the love of her life. They had dreamed of getting married after graduation. But one rainy night changed everything.
Everyone believed Jason had disappeared without a trace.
Even the police eventually closed the case.
Only Amara knew what had happened that night...
...or at least, she thought she did.
The next morning, Daniel arrived to take Amara to meet his parents.
As they drove, Daniel smiled.
"My mother can't wait to meet her future daughter-in-law."
Amara forced a smile, but her mind was elsewhere.
When they arrived at the mansion, Daniel's mother welcomed her warmly.
Just as everyone sat down for lunch, the family butler hurried into the dining room.
"Sir," he said nervously, "there's a visitor asking for Miss Amara."
Daniel frowned.
"Who is it?"
The butler swallowed hard.
"He refused to give his name... but he said Miss Amara would recognize him immediately."
Amara's heart pounded.
She slowly stood up and walked toward the front door.
As the door opened...
She froze.
Standing before her was the man from the photograph.
Older.
A faint scar stretched across his forehead.
He looked straight into her eyes and smiled.
"Hello, Amara," he said quietly.
"Did you really think I was dead?"
The tray in Amara's hands crashed to the floor.
