Chapter 20Fort Keeps, NY — Adirondacks — October 1912 Sheriff Benji O'Sullivan wore a long tan leather jacket that just reached the bottom of his calf muscles. His boots were scuffed beyond polishing and the soles worn nearly clean off. He'd need a new pair before winter. The idea of spending money on even essentials gave him pause.
