Quinn POV
“Ellie, You claim that our pack Luna, Quinn, tried to murder your baby. Do you have any evidence or witness?" As I'm standing by the dock crossing my arms in front of my chest, asks the chief elder of the red cove pack.
I sneer and turn my eyes to Ellie to see what she has to say.
"Yes, chief elder."Ellie takes a deep breath and finally moves her lips and spoke softly, as if she is trying to gather up all of her courage when saying this, " I have a witness. My witness is... Alpha Matthew. I... I think Luna Quinn tries to murder my baby because of jealousy, because my baby... My baby's father is Alpha Matthew." She quickly throws a glance at Matthew and lowers her head after finishing the sentence.
I hear everyone in the room gasping. The next second, all eyes turns around to me, expecting me to make a statement.
"Ridiculous. I don't have to be jealous of anyone, for I'm the rightful pack leader. I didn't do it, Ellie is lying!" I gritt my teeth. Ellie's disguise made me furious. But, I still have to maintain my image as a Luna and a graceful pack leader.
"Please control your emotions, Luna Quinn. and please make your statement, Alpha Matthew." Chief Elder stops me from saying more, I guess he knows what I was going to say, like everyone else. My short temper is not a secret in Red Cove pack, though it wasn't a problem for anyone back when I was still the alpha candidate and my father was still the alpha. But now being the Luna, my temperament suddenly became a big flaw.
Matthew stands up as the chief elder calls, his eyes going back and forth between Ellie and me. Ellie, as always, is looking back into his eyes with her lovable puppy eyes, while I was staring at him in disappointment and despise. Oh Matthew, I thought you could do better.
Pondering for a few seconds, he nods to Ellie, sending a sign of confirmation with his eyes and walks onto the center stage: "I testify that I have seen with my own eyes that my wife Quinn pushed Ellie down the stairs and caused her to miscarry. I also admit that the baby's father is me. There is no doubt that Quinn is guilty. Such a criminal doesn't deserve the position of our Luna."
The buzzing noise from the curious crowd rose immediately.
My eyes widened as Mathew finishs his accusation. That day, Ellie laid herself on the ground and started screaming as if she was pushed, and it was half a minute later when Matthew arrived. He lied.
He really wants to get rid of me so bad? Or the two of them had already conspired on this matter? I stares at his face and the familiar face of my husband suddenly seems so strange and cold to me.
I took a deep breath and started defending myself.
"I said, I'm not jealous of Ellie and I didn't push her down the stairs. Besides, Matthew has an affair with Ellie and his words are not trustworthy. Unless they show more sold evidence other than their own words, I'm not guilty.
Then I continued,
"The truth is, they're teaming up just to pull me down from Luna's position because I'm getting in the way of their 'true love'. Honorable elders of Red Cove pack, I hereby accuse Ellie and Matthew of giving fake evidence and trying to set me up. On top of that, he is unfaithful to his marriage. We should reconsider if Matthew is suitable of being the alpha of our pack."
I was confident that the elders will stand by my side. I'm saying the truth, I know not everyone will be fooled by them. Besides, before my father, the previous pack alpha, passed away, all elders of the pack had sworn to him that they would stand by my side, obey my wills and decisions and protect me in any situation.
No matter who the next alpha is, I will be the most powerful person in Red Cove pack. Although Matthew became Alpha after I mated with him, the oaths the elders made to my father still give me higher rights over Matthew. I know Matthew has been unhappy about this for a long time, but I don't think he can change it.
I see Mathew frowning at my words. Then, he stood out again and said firmly to all the elders:
"In the witness of the elders and all Red Cove members, I hereby announce, she's no longer my wife, no longer the Luna of the red cove pack. I propose we banish her."
Banish me? How dare he and how could he? My mind doesn't turn around for a moment.
"Matthew, I warn you. You don't have the right to banish me or divorce me, nor you have the right to announce a new Luna!" I steps forward in confidence and looks at the chief elder and all the other elders, "Honored Elders of Red Cove, I'm sure you haven't forget the oaths you made in front of your true alpha, my father, have you?"
To my surprise, none of the elders dare look back to me and say a word.
"Yes, of course alpha Matthew has the right to banish you. He's the rightful alpha of the pack." Ellie walks elegantly towards me and said, "You might not realize, dear Luna. Look around, you don't have supporters any more."
What is she talking about? I stare at the chief elder, but he lowers his head, avoiding my eyesight. Same as all the others.
I look around the pack meeting hall, all I see is silence and diffident.
It is the first time I feel panicked in the pack where I grow up. It is the moment when I realize that in this place,
No one is on my side.
"You can feel free to indulge yourself in your pathetic dreams of the past, but the reality is, you're just a weak, wolfless, infertile, miserable woman." Ellie sneers at me and raises her hand.
Slap!
I felt a sharp pain on my face. It was Ellie's slap.
"This is the return for last time, Luna Quinn. Oh, I'm sorry, it's former Luna."
"After all, you're just a pathetic banished rogue from now on."
