Kill her

Quinn POV I trudged through the dense forest, stumbled. My heart is heavy with sadness and exhaustion. It had been a whole day since I had been thrown out of the pack, and I had been wandering alone ever since, trying to come to terms with my new reality: Once an alpha candidate, a luna, and now, a rogue werewolf without a pack, with no home to call my own. I was unable to think straight for some time. I wandered aimlessly through the forest, anger and sadness turning into a dull ache inside my chest. I always knew Matthew wasn't fully up to the alpha position because of his suspicious yet indecisive nature, and I've tried hard to manage the job as a Luna as well as trying to help him become a good alpha. It was my oversight to not notice Matthew had developed doubts for me, but I did had trust in him. Of course, because he was my mate. In fact, he still is - He rejected me officially during my trial but somehow, I can still feel a trace of mate bond between me and Matthew. Maybe it has something to do with my wolfless situation, or maybe he was hesitant again deep inside. Somehow, I'm not that surprised at his betrayed. I had to admit, I never fully trusted him, otherwise I would have given him all my powers and not interfere with his alpha duties. But, it's all to late to think about those. All I need to think about now is what to do next. My feet ached from walking through the forest for a whole day, my footfalls made dull thuds on the forest floor as I walked along. The tip of my nose also ached as I recall more and more of my past, but I held back her tears. I decided that I won't cry under no matter what circumstance the day my father died. I swore that I'd be strong and never show my weakness to anyone. The people who I can trust wholeheartedly, who I can be a little girl and cry in front of, have all gone on that day. Suddenly, I heard something at the corner of my ear - I felt that I was followed. "Who's there? What do you want?" I stopped, my muscles secretly tightened, then I cleared her throat and spoke out, senses on alert. Soon, I found that I was grouped up by a few werewolfs. More specifically, gamma warriors. They wear black hoods and cloaks, their every movement is so clean and determined. Well-trained gamma warriors. Once I was fully surrounded, A female werewolf slowly walked out to me. It was Ellie. "Well, well, look who it is," Ellie sneered. "The outcast, all alone in the forest. How pathetic." "What do you want, Ellie?" I frowned, trying to keep my voice steady. "I want you gone, Quinn," Ellie replied. "You were always standing in my way, and now that you're out of the pack, I can finally have what I want. No... But getting you banished is not enough for me. I tried to push Matthew and the elders into hanging you but it seems Matthew still doesn't want you dead." She grinded her teeth so loud that I can even smell her jealousy, "Matthew, I love him so much and he still has feeling for you... I want you gone forever!" I was speechless at her unbelievable way of thinking, but at the same time, my heart sank as I realized the depth of Ellie's hatred for me. Ellie was dangerous. I still didn't know what on earth did Ellie want to do. Last time she faked her abortion at the stairs, put up an act, making everyone believe that I pushed her. Now she wanted me dead. Is all this really just because she loves Matthew? I had to find a way to outsmart them. I scoffed and retorted back, "Okay, so you're afraid of me." I tried to keep a brave face, acted like I wasn't afraid of those gamma warriors, but I couldn't help but felt a twinge of fear. I knew that I couldn't take on three gamma warriors all by myself, especially without my wolf powers. "If you're so afraid of me, then fight me yourself! Don't use your men to do your dirty work!" I tried to agitate Ellie, but she didn't take it. She also didn't give me more time to think. She glanced at the gamma warriors she brought and spat out her command without thinking twice: "Kill her!" The gamma warriors are indeed very well-trained. I took a deep breath and tried to steady my shaking hands. I knew that she was no match for the three werewolf warriors in her current state, but I also knew that I couldn't just give up. I had to find a way to defend myself because no one will be coming for me, I'm all alone. As the warriors closed in on me, I scanned the area for anything I could use as a weapon. My eyes landed on a fallen branch, and I quickly grabbed it, using all my strength to wield it with my sword techniques. Luckily, I'm good with sword. Ellie laughed at my attempt to fight back, so did the warriors. but I didn't let their taunts deter me. I was determined to hold my own, even without my wolf. The first warrior lunged at me with claws extended, but I was ready for him. I sidestepped his attack and swung the branch, landing a solid blow to his stomach. He grunted in pain and stumbled back. But another warrior came at her from the side to attack my back the next second, not allowing me to catch my breath. Thanks to my fighting instinct and the hard training when I was a kid, I somehow managed to dodge his attack and struck him on the back of the head, causing him to stubble. However, there's a third warrior, who was the largest of the group, still waiting and observing the fight. He covered his face with the hood and lowered his head, but the animal instinct in me told me that he's the most dangerous of all. While fighting with the other two warriors, I remained cautious for him and at the same time, trying to approach Ellie slowly. I knew that my only chance is to hold Ellie as a hostage, before I was struck down by the warriors! Five meters, four meters. Just as I was just two steps away from catching Ellie, the gamma warriors seemed to have realized my intention and lunged at me, throwing her to the ground heavily. Quinn could hear the sound of her body hitting the rocks on the ground. Man, it hurt so much! "This is it, Quinn," Ellie said, taking a step towards me, "You're finished. And once you're out of the way, there will be nothing standing in my way." As the two gamma warriors are suppressing my already drained body, Ellie raised her claws to deliver the final blow, I closed my eyes. This is really the end for me, isn't it? I could feel every bone inside me aching, I could taste the blood in my mouth running down my throat. I was literally worn out, didn't even have the strength to move the tip of my fingers, let alone fighting back. At that moment, my past life flashed her mind like a movie. I thought of the most important people in my life, my father and mother, and I felt a pang in my heart as I remembered Kael. They had always been there for me, until the war five years ago. I still remember the day they died. It was like a part of my soul had died with them. "Mother, father, Kael, I'm sorry." I tried so hard to hold back my tears even at the end, as I braced myself for the end. But the end never came. Suddenly, I heard a loud growl and a thud, and when I opened my eyes, I saw Ellie no longer standing in front of me but was grabbed by the scruff of her neck and a sharp dagger was there across her neck. It was the third warrior who was always keeping a distance and observing the battle! He lunged at Ellie instead of me!
