THE MATCH MAKING

With a cup of coffee on the table I sat down there smiling and wishing that life continues to be this way with so much to enjoy just as I was about laughing my heart out I woke up and realised it was all a dream then I layed quietly on the bed and thought about my life. I really wanted to go to school and become a great woman but life wasn't fair to me, it treated me so badly that sometimes I wished i never existed. It was yet another day to endure suffering pain and shame in the hands of my wicked aunt who was bent on making life very miserable for me despite the fact that I try so hard to please her and do all her biddings, I kept wondering why she hated me so much but then again I thought maybe she wasn't to blame but life was to be blamed, Life hated me so much and that's the reason life brought me into her house ever since I lost my parents so I could suffer, I was lost in thought when I suddenly heard my name. Joy " She Shouted", Yes aunty I immediately replied while try to jump out from bed and rushing to meet her, it was 5am in the morning and I had to prepare her kids for school. She landed me a hot slap on my face immediately I got to her, and I immediately greeted "Good Morning mummy" Say that to your miserable mother in the grave "she replied" who is your mummy lazy girl? Am I supposed to wake you up every morning to fullfil your duties? Sorry ma " I responded' I rushed to the kitchen and immediately put on the gas to boil some water and started doing the dishes with tears rolling down my cheek. I was used to it anyways it's part of me now. After which I cooked and prepared breakfast for the family and then I rushed so wake the kids up for school. Served them breakfast and the school bus was already at the gates to pick them up. I served madam and her husband breakfast and they left for work while I continue my house chores for the day. Immediately I was done in the kitchen I went out to do the laundry and then served food to the security at the gate. Madam came back earlier than expected today, she looked so furious then I became scared because she was definitely going to unleash the anger on me for sure. Joy, "she shouted" and I responded immediately while running to meet her" Yes ma" I replied. Am very tired come and give me a body massage now. ok ma, "I said" , I have been working all day restlessly and am very tired, can't this woman see these and allow me rest? " I thought" I went into her room and started the massage, it wasn't long until she slept and then I left the room. It was noon already and the kids where back from school, I attended to them by giving them lunch and helping them out with their home work, bath them and then to them to their rooms to have their siesta. My whole body was aching already but i can do little or nothing about it because that wouldn't stop me from carrying out my duties around the house. I decided to go have my bath and then picked up a book novel to read, It was about how a young handsome rich man fell in love with a common poor girl who was an orphan and i wished i could have that experience of a rich guy falling for me but just like the saying goes " If wishes were horses beggars would have ride on it" It was just a mere wish and a story so am sure it wouldn't come to pass," I thought". I was still lost in thought when i slept off unknownly. "Pee Peeeeee Peeee " I heard the car horn, it was my madams husband, I jumped up to check the time and i realized it was evening already. Mr Barnabas came back earlier than expected today just like his wife, why is everyone coming back to early today, I said while trying to get down from bed to go prepare dinner for the family. I met his wife Mrs Catherine in the sitting room on my way to the kitchen, I greeted her " Good evening ma" and she said " Joy where have you been and what have you been up to since i arrived this house' I didn't even know how to answer such question but then i said to her, " I have been very busy with the house chores ma, i also attended to the kids when they arrived from school, i was still trying to explain myself when her husband Mr Barnabas walked in. Welcome honey, she rose up and went to hug her husband and kissed him, Thanks sweetheart "he responded" Where are the kids? Mrs Catherine turned to me and i immediately answered, " They are in their room and i left to the kitchen. After a while dinner was served and the whole family came together to eat and enjoy their meal, I sat in the kitchen to eat mine also like i always did, I can hear them eat and laugh loudly from here, I have never eaten on the dinning table ever since i arrived this house, it was like a taboo if i ever did because Mrs Catherine has clearly instructed me never to see me eating on the dinning table which i have strictly obeyed. When they were all done eating, I hurriedly went to clear up the dinning table before my aunt calls my name because if she does i will be yelled at, The kids while trying to eat had messed up themselves so i also had to clean them up and took them to their rooms to catch some sleep against tomorrow because they will have to attend school the next day. I was so exhausted after everything for the day but I had no other option than to continue doing my duties, I had my bath and then laid quietly on the bed it was a really tough and rough day for me, so many thoughts run through my mind and so many imaginations, lost in thought I fell asleep until the next day that was how my life continued daily.
